Royalty. Wealthy. Force Sensitive? Yes. The Baroness has grown up with a silver spoon, but for all the glamour there was a lot of hard work. High expectations, and a lot of pressure to carry on her mothers' legacies. She was the subject of a lot of teen magazines from En Rogue to Glamour Girl 17. In spite of all the intergalactic attention, the teenager was very much isolated in terms of her own personal life. Security was always overdone in her opinion, she never attended a public academy of any sort, she'd been privately tutored at her home on Tygara.

And while she was force sensitive, she never had a need to set foot in any sort of formal academy, temple or anything that was related to your run of the mill Jedi or Sith. She like the generation of women before her, believed the force to be a tool and not something to worship or wage holy wars over. The only thing she placed her faith in, was at times, Ashira. And while, Riona Kerrigan-Alcori might be this lofty figure to some of the plebians throughout the Galaxy.

Those closest to her knew she could be quite the troublemaker, a mouthy opinionated, sometimes very stubborn young lady. Today happened to be one of the days where she was going to be this person, Riona had been grounded, again. If you asked her why she'd tell you that she didn't know. Whether it was for talking back to her mothers, talking back to an Eldorai noble, skipping out on her tutoring or something along those lines.

The Baroness has clashed, you could say, with her mothers, as her parents not only grew up differently but worked hard to get to where they are today. Riona knows none of this, she doesn't know what any of that feels like. And as she slices her way through a security lock on her speeder. She clumsily forgets to deal with the cameras, as she gets on the speeder bike and fires it up. Heading out the back gates she goes straight for transport pad, and of course, there's a huge no Riona all over it. Locked out of the system, she sighs and looks over to the villa behind her and narrowed her gaze. While her mother might be on Mon Calamari working, she wanted to make sure she could feel the anger and frustration. Pushing her lips to the side, Riona picked out her holo from her pocket. She called one of the very few people she'd call best friend, "Makai, it's Rio. I still have our tickets for the concert, come pick me up?" Riona asks sweetly.

Fingers tapped on the datapad as Makai took notes in the packed, cavernous lecture hall. Cadets and visiting students of various ages and species were hard at work, doing their best to keep up with the presentation handled by the instructor. The course, entitled Spacelanes and You : How to Navigate Without Turning to Dust , was a special three week course presented by the one and only [member="Jorus Merrill"]. Makai had come in from Mon Calamari to catch the course, one that would be vital in the coming years. Mr.Merrill was handling topics of navigating between the spacelanes, important if he was to continue salvaging with the family company. Wrecks didn't always happen on the 'main roads' so to speak.

Comm buzzed a few times in his pocket, but all Riona would get was a messaging system. She would have to wait and see if they could go to a concert after all.

Two hours later, the class ended and Makai began to stream out with the hundreds of other students who had packed into the hall. Makai had only attended the LAA once or twice before. It was nice, being out with regular teenagers and young adults. Trying his best not to bump into anyone, he eased into the crowded hallways on the space station and pulled out his comm. First, a message to [member="Myra Elspeth"] :

Ellie, how is Koa? He hasn't run out of food yet? You are feeding him, right? What've you been up to?

Understandably, Makai had been busy since dropping Koa off with the Arceneau family. He thumbed through messages on his screen, getting to the message left by Riona. Concert? Which concert? Perhaps something in the region? Or something run by lesbian space elves? He really didn't keep up with such things.

Hitting a button on the comm, he went to dial back Riona about the concert.

"Rio...Hey, I just got your message. What concert? When? Where?"

Well, Rio did wait, and wait, and wait. She figured he was either in class or talking to Myra, either way. Rio decided to cave and put the bike back in the garage and climbed up the walls of the Villa. Sitting up on the roof she stared into the sky above, the teen had never known what it was to want. While she knew discipline, she didn't have enough of it, which frustrated her parents to no end. Her Corellian Sand Cat climbed his way up to her and curled at her side, purring as she stroked his fur.

Eventually, Makai got back to her, and she answered him, "outside Voss, the Freighter Tour. Biggest bands this side of the Galaxy will be there, Black Day, Wink 232, Kir'Vana, No Regret, and like a bunch of others."

"Were you in class?" She asks, wondering if one of her suspicions were correct.

[member="Riona Kerrigan-Alcori"]

"Sounds real wizard." Makai didn't keep up with any of the concert scenes or anything similar. He did listen to the bands Rio listed, often when he was out drifting in the black with the salvage crews. The bands brought memories of sweaty envirosuits and hard work, not sun-soaked festivals and carefree idyllic days. He knew Rio was always in the loop with these things and it would be more of her thing. Question was, why ask him? [member="Siobhan Kerrigan"] must have forbade her from attending.

"I'm sort of close to Voss right now. Sorta. So when is it? You are right, I was in class but not at Heurkea Academy. Out taking a three week course at Levantine Astronautical Academy. I've got a break towards the end of the week off but the course starts back immediately after that."

"You going to meet me there? On Voss?"

Riona half wished she got to go to all the schools that Makai did. Unfortunately, she was usually stuck around Tygara or being shipped directly to Mon Calamari. She had been schooled at home with private tutors, taught the ways of the force there at the Villa. Trained to use a bolter and a lightsaber, also there at home. There wasn't a part of her life that wasn't scheduled at this point. Thus her rebellious nature at dislike at being kept at home nearly all the time. To be fair, she had no real need to leave home, but Ashira help her she was going crazy. "Later this week, and maybe." She tells him plainly, "I'll let you know a little later, how's Myra?"

She asked while laying out on the roof of the Villa. Riona had some time right now before someone would come out to look for her to take her to the Temple. Her mothers, [member="Siobhan Kerrigan"] and @Tegaea Alcori were very good at outsmarting their teenage daughter. Grounded meant her usually rigid schedule was going to be accompanied by more guards and more than likely someone was going to be at every stop on her schedule to make sure that's exactly where she was. "Out at Levantine, huh? Wow."

Makai moved down the corridors of Oswaft Station as he walked, the crowds starting to thin. He was staying in a dorm room for visiting and guest students. It was small but had an amazing view of Laekia below, every so often squadrons of Cadet Starfighters would zoom past, going out on their flight runs.

"Okay, keep me in the loop. Last minute doesn't work on in these vast reaches in Sanctum space."

Setting down his bag, Makai pulled out his datapad and turned it back on. He listened to Rio ask about Ellie and grimaced slightly. From what he could tell, both girls seemed to be at odds with one another, even though he was quite certain they had never met. Speaking of Ellie, messages popped onto his datapad. He had an app that sent text communications from his comm to his datapad as well, mainly to chat with Ellie while he was in class back on Mon Cala.

"She's fine. Annoying her about Koa. She seems to think he just eats for anyone." A small scoff and he started to type back a message to Ellie. Fingers moved across the datapad as he continued with Rio. "So what are you up to? How did you escape your ball and chain long enough to talk to me? I'm surprised your Moms are letting you use the comm for this long."

There it was, the flash of a name that identified it as Miz Myra Elspeth Korden Arceneau Kuhn. It rather a mouthful, which is why 'Ellie' was the name that flashed on the screen.

A pause...

another longggg pause and the little stylus started anew

.
294faa1fa276a9ac47ae0f5052145534.gif

Finally, it came!A boopbabeepboop!

[ ... He's fine. And yes I have. I'm not dumb you know. ]

[ No one said you were dumb ]

294faa1fa276a9ac47ae0f5052145534.gif

Pause.. quick back and forth movement.

294faa1fa276a9ac47ae0f5052145534.gif

A long pause, then the stylus started back up again.

[ Then what you call asking me if I am feeding him? ]

This girl clearly keeps typing, then erasing, then typing again

[ Sometimes Koa is picky. I call it being a concerned pet parent. ]

This time, the reply was prompt.

[ Koa always eats what I give him! ]

[ Oh. I didn't know ]

Somewhere, Myra was mouthing silently to her comm going 'oh. I didn't know!' At least, until said Koa began to try and jump on her chest.

A few seconds later... [ He's doing fine though. Misses you. ] hidden between the lines was that Ellie also missed him too.

[I miss him too. Ready to go home to Mon Cal]

Very quickly, Makai got [ Wait, you're not coming to pick him up?] [ No, silly. I'm at the farm. ] Very quickly followed with [ You should come stay a while. ]

[ 'The farm'. I will be delayed but I am coming to pick him up.] A small pause. [How long? I don't think your Dad likes me ]

[ Delayed? Why will you be delayed?] the stylus move swiftly. [ And what makes you think that?!] she didn't even answer for how long.

[Rio wants me to take her to a concert. I have a day or two after my classes. Never been to a concert.] Another long pause.[He....just doesn't. Its okay though, I'm still going to stay over]

[ Rio? Who's Rio? ] Very quickly followed by. [ And you're taking her to a concert?! ]

[Kerrigan and Alcori's kid. Her Moms run Firemane. You should know them] [I think she's taking me. Free tickets or something]

"Yeah, yeah I know," Riona acknowledged as she sat up on the roof, her cat didn't like that and grumpily got down on his own accord. "I live far enough away from the core to know." Did she ever, she looked down as she watched servants below tend to the grounds. "I'm sure he'll be fine," she tried to reassure Makai but that probably only went so far. And then he asked her the impossible, as in how did Riona manage to slip out from under supervision. She didn't technically, "there's something going on at the Temple, and so I'm waiting for my escorts, which means either their held up somewhere or moms getting actual Firemane soldiers to guard me on my way there and back."

"So technically, I haven't escaped my ball and chain," she sighed, "if I want to escape my ball and chain, that would mean living without anything and probably leading to me getting disowned." Rio can recall a night or two of her mom, Sio getting upset enough to have threatened it or to tell the tale of her older sister. Guilt, "and I really don't wanna go down that path with them." Nope, not in a million years. "Eh, I'm pretty sure they're monitoring this conversation. There's like no point in trying to outsmart them, I'll just get a huge lecture and extended time on my punishment."

Not that she hasn't tried before, but she's sort of given up on trying to be the rebel. Yes, she still rebels, yes she still gets snippy, talks back and has attitude and is mostly ungrateful but then she's grateful and doesn't have the attitude, being seventeen is complicated, okay? "I think enough service with the temple will get me a pass off Tygara." Either that or she was going to have to bribe her sister @Galina Kerrigan-Alcori to get her off world, again. "If not I'm sure I've got a Queen or two in my pocket to help out with that." Although she could hear Galina telling her why she wouldn't cover for her too, ugh.

Sure, neither Ellie nor Rio were friends, but they weren't exactly gladiatorial combatants either. "Anyway, tell Myra I said hi, I better climb down from the roof before I get excused of jumping the fence... Again, later Makai." She gets off of the holo and makes her way down to the grounds, tossing her holo to a waiting servant. "I know, Bo."

"Yer mothers are waiting for you on the line," Bo'Sara instructed, and Rio sighed looking up at the sky as if it could help her in this moment.

"Ashira help me," she prayed as she made her way inside the Villa.

"I'm not really a Core type of guy. Then again, not all of us are featured in Teenage Sentient magazine, are we?" Makai really couldn't be bothered with the Core worlds. He knew at one point his parents lived on Coruscant during their time with the Galactic Republic. Dad never made mention of bothering with the Core so he didn't give much thought to it.

"So this conversation is being monitored? I imagine if you look down there might be a bunch of guards at your location. Who knows, just a wild guess knowing your Moms."

Makai always thought the security and stipulations around Rio were a bit overkill. Even he and [member="Myra Elspeth"] didn't have that type of security. Even when they did, it was minimal and professional, allowing the pair to act like a pair of teenagers. Makai was sure the Arceneau guards reported back to Ellie's parents, but at least they were allowed to make decisions.

"I'll say Hi to Ellie for you. Best of luck with your Moms, be sure to keep me posted. I'll still be here."

Ending the comm call, Makai sent the Hello over to Ellie before finishing up. He could study....but....tomorrow was only the lab for his class. He could read before bed. Pulling his jacket back on, Makai wandered back out into the common parts of Oswaft Station. Time to go down to the hangar and try to convince the instructor to give him a go at a starfighter.

Riona didn't say anything, her lips were pushed to one side thinking on Makai's comment. She hadn't asked to be featured in Teenage Sentient, En Rogue, Glamour Girl 17 or Teen Nobility, or any of the mainstream media. She never wanted to be thrust into the limelight , in fact, neither had her mothers. What could they all do? Riona was young, beautiful, wealthy and talented in many aspects of life, academic, athletic, force and even military. While her mothers were seen as overprotective, overbearing and even harsh at times - there was always a reason. One day she would have to take their place, her sister Galina was a queen on another planet.

Riona by blood would ascend and inherit all that her mothers had. Of course at this age, she didn't care. She just wanted to be free of the burdens and to be a young, carefree girl. And no there hadn't been a bunch of guards when she looked down, no those guards were being assembled to take her temple. It was one of the few trips she'd get away from the Villa, at least she had been hoping for it anyway. No, something had come up and she was here in the small chapel at home, at the Villa itself.

She had no idea how they were going to get permission to get off this blasted rock. In fact, she was almost sure that she wouldn't. Not without a severe punishment and possible disownment. Riona would have to figure out a way to convince her mothers to allow her to go to the concert. All the biggest bands this side of the galaxy were going to be there, and even some of her favourite singers. Riona wanted to grumble but knew better as the Villa's priestess looked at her. Sighing, the young scion began to recite the 'words' of Ashira, while wishing she was off on some whirlwind adventure.

Later that weekend...

"Makai, how close are you to Tygara?"

Life at the LAA was fairly interesting for Makai. Most folks didn't know who he was, despite his father having a scholarship program for medical students at Celestia Station. Between his class taught by General Merrill and the classes back at Heurkea Academy, some free time was spent exploring Laekia. On an off day he had gone surfing and explored the coast, wondering if he should go back and rent a boat for a day. It was a bit dangerous to do such a thing without informing anyone else, so he was holding off.

He was starting to grow bored though. His friends weren't around to annoy him. Koa wasn't making him laugh with his goofy antics and his Dad wasn't around to do take him off on the next business adventure.

Laying on his back on the small bunk, Makai was studying for his History of Aquatic Species class while listening to new music from his friend [member="Zak Dymo"] . Makai was fairly certain his good buddy was going to make it to the top, he was already playing at a ton of festivals and doing opening acts.

Comm rang and he answered it, listening to Rio.

"Same place I was when you last called. Why don't you just take the public shuttle here? I'll meet you at the landing dock. We don't have to miss a day of the festival then."

Ha, ha. Take a public shuttle? No. That'd only land her butt in trouble, but she could call a friend. "Okay, I'll be there in a few, just have to make a few calls." Riona disconnected from Makai and dialed up Sabrielle. They'd been life long friends, meeting at Riona's very first church service, she grabbed her coat and bag. "Sabi? You think Loveria could get me on the next shuttle to the Skyport?"

"You want me to die, don't you."

"Sabi, please - I have those concert tickets, I'm going with Makai but-"

Sabrielle sighed, "yeah Loveria still works there, hold on - are you at the Villa?"

"Yes, but I can fix that." Riona walked toward the stables and worked out the new codes and managed to get one of the raptors out. Somethings never change she mused, as she got on the Raptor's back. And off she went, "I can meet whoever outside the gates."

"Right, well Utana's sister should be there soon, and Rio, you totally owe us."

Riona aged faster than they did, they were elves but they knew and she knew people in her age range.

Roughly twenty minutes later Riona was on her way to the landing docks, where she would be able to meet up with Makai. She thanked her friends and their sisters and slipped past security. She looked around for a few moments before finding Makai. "Makai!" She shouted, and waved at him. "Good to see you, ready to go?"

Makai was waiting patiently at the terminal for [member="Riona Kerrigan-Alcori"] to show up. Transit was normally on time, but he suspected his friend wasn't used to taking such a system. Security was always a pain and a half, the checks a planet put the arrivals through as a just in case. Most times they seemed more worried about foreign goods being sold untaxed than real issues.

Rio had spotted him and he waved back. He half chuckled at her hair and waited until she drew closer until he dare make a comment on it. Scale speckled hand reached out and plucked at one of the reddish locks. Brow arced in question, looking back at his friend.

"Whats this? Somehow I don't think your Moms would approve. Tsk."

With a grin on his face, Makai dropped the reddish locks and nodded towards the door. Part of him was still surprised Rio had come out to actually meet him.

"Trip went well I assume? How is everything? What have I been missing?"

"Well this isn't for me mums approval now is it?" Riona asked with a cheeky grin as she flipped her hair over. "The trip went, and everything is.... okay, I'll tell you more when we're not around tons of security that me mums own, yeah." Her hands pressed at his back pushing him onward doing her best to keep out of every camera's sight. "What about what's her name, Ellie? How's she?" What Riona hadn't told Makai was she was hoping to meet her boyfriend at the Rock Show, yes she wanted to go with Makai and enjoy it with him but you know some details were better left unsaid until they reached neutral space and could get away with having such conversations.

"That your ship?" She asks thumbing toward it the moment they passed checkpoints and she could walk along beside him.

[member="Makai Dashiell"]

[member="Riona Kerrigan-Alcori"]

Hands pushed at his back, urging him along the corridors. Makai was in less of a rush. No one seemed to care about the son of a corporation owner compared to the daughters. Then again, the Kerrigan-Alcori's were normally a little more "out there" than his own family. Dashiells liked to hang back, not be so much in the limelight of things.

"Ellie is fine. A little mad I'm not going to be hanging out at her Farm immediately, a bit delayed due the pit stop here. Koa is out there keeping her company though. What else could she ask for?"

Walking side-by-side, Makai shook his head at the ship question.

"Nope, I don't have a ship. I took the shuttle just like you. I'd like one the future though...something I could modify myself. Make it my own. Maybe soon...perhaps I can convince Dad to let me salvage one on a run with him soon."

Rio looked at Makai, "you should've brought her with you." She says about Ellie, "not sure - but you could've brought her and I'm sure we could've found a way to get Koa in." She gives Makai a wink as they walk side by side. She smiles at the thought of Makai and a ship, "sounds fun, salvage run that is." Not that she'd get to do that, at least not while she was still under her mothers roof. Hands in her pockets as they headed for a shuttle, "we can take this one." Surprisingly no one stopped them as she led her friend into a public transport shuttle that would take them from the Skyport to wherever they needed to go.

"Galina's pretty much set to take over for moms soon," Riona adds as an afterthought. "Which is pretty cool, cause I guess now she's a Corporate Queen." She says with a bit of pride, "not sure what I'm supposed to be doing other than sitting in court all day and listening to conservative Eldorai drone on and on and on."

[member="Makai Dashiell"]

[member="Riona Kerrigan-Alcori"]

Makai might a slight face at the mention of [member="Myra Elspeth"] .Ellie could have came along, but she had an incredible fear of crowds and crowded places. It set off a type of PTSD attack Makai didn't know much about, the how was never explained to him and it would be out of place to press for answers. Rio didn't have to know that, so he waved a hand away, bringing up an explanation.

"Don't think her parents would let her. She's a bit younger than us."

Makai opened the shuttle door, informing the driver they were headed to the rock festival in town as Rio got in. He was right behind her, sliding into the next available seat and sinking back to relax.

"Salvage is fun.....So is being a Corporate Queen I suppose." Brow furrowed in thought. "Why are you sitting in court all day? Are you studying to become a Judge? Seems a bit....out of place for you but who am I to disagree."

Riona shook her head, "no not that kinda court." A smile as she secured herself in the shuttle, "um Royal Court? I mean I'm not Royalty, but Nobility so we sit in court and talk about like everything. Politics, interests of the commonwealth, I mean I don't actually get to say much. I just sit there and take notes for my mums." She did kind of have a say but really it was on little things. "And if I'm not there I'm in Cathedral which isn't so bad, I get to watch the pretty Eldorai sing but then preaching." Which still wasn't that bad but she still preferred to be elsewhere, like off Tygara.

She loved her home, she did and was one of the few humans who could claim that she was Tygaran but sometimes it was nice to see the Galaxy. "I should go on a salvage run with you someday. Sounds like fun, maybe I'd get to use some of my skills," she punched into the air and then looked around and put her hands into her lap, "

[member="Makai Dashiell"]

[member="Riona Kerrigan-Alcori"]

"Oh...sounds....fun..." Makai thought it sounded anything but. Sitting around all day listening to a bunch of people talk about...well, probably whatever they felt like. Now he was aware it could be similar to company board meetings, but at the very least there was an agenda to be had. Some type of work to be done. This seemed very....aimless.

Good thing he didn't have to deal with such a thing.

"You know salvaging rarely involves fighting, right? Thats why we have security. Sometimes Firemane sometimes other companies. Most times you won't even see anyone else out there if the salvage is very remote."

"Come along one day. We'll have you do some work inside the wreckage in an envirosuit. Just you and nothing but the black. Well, I guess we can make sure the safety harness is attached."
