GENERAL INFORMATION
Planet Name: Laranis II
Demonym: Laranisian
Region: Seswenna SectorOuter Rim Territories
System Name: Laranis System
System Features: (See Laranis System)
Location: N-47
Major Imports: Most Items
Major Exports: Minerals, Materials
Unexploited Resources: Potential Mineral Deposits and Valuable Materials may remain undiscovered. Iron, nickel, bauxite, copper, tin, gold, silver, gypsum, lithium, all are found in large deposits across the northern and western continents. Undersea mining has not yet been attempted. In a few instances, phrik has been found as well. It would not be unlikely for quantities of these more common minerals to be found in the aforementioned places, however the likelihood of a new phrik vein being discovered is much, much less likely, being about 1/100.

GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION
Gravity: Standard
Climate: Temperate
Primary Terrain: Mountains, Desert, Arid Scrublands
Atmosphere: Type II

LOCATION INFORMATION
Capital City: Red Sands
Planetary Features: An arid, rocky, desert world with mountains and grasslands, it is dotted with mines, exploiting the vast mineral deposits here. In the southern deserts, moisture farms use vaporators to collect water for the population, and wind turbines and solar farms occupy much of the surface.
Major Locations:
  • Red Sands
  • Moisture Farms – Southern Deserts: Vast fields of moisture vaporators and solar panels fan out across the barren wastelands of the southern portions of this world, collecting much needed water and power to support the behemoth of mining and manufacturing taking place in the mineral-rich northern and western continents, as well as providing these resources to the planetary capital at Red Sands.
  • Various Mining and Refinery Operations: On the northern and western continents, numerous mines and refineries churn out tons of ore and materials every day. Iron, nickel, gold, silver, tin, copper, gypsum, bauxite, and more criss-cross the landscape in massive veins, making those who own these expansive mining operations very rich. Even phrik has been found here.

POPULATION
Native Species: Numerous non-sentient flora and fauna.
Immigrated Species: Human, Sullustan, Wookie, Rodian, Other.
Population: Sparse (2.6 Million)
Demographics: Human (33%), Sullustan (34%), Wookie (6%), Rodian (8%), Other (19%)
Primary Languages: Galactic Basic
Culture:
Laranis II is oft-described as “A Working Man’s World”. Populated by moisture farmers, miners, refinery workers, service industry employees, and spacers, Laranis II is most certainly that. Conditions are tough, and the harsh landscape, coupled with a polluted and hostile environment, frequent dust storms, and arduous lifestyles combine to make it a place where only the toughest can survive. Protectorate policies, enforced by a ruthless Security, keep the cost of living high and stretch the working classes to their breaking point. Long hours and (usually) low wages keep the population in its place, and when they dare to rise, Protectorate Security is always there, ready and waiting to take them down a notch again.

GOVERNMENT & ECONOMY
Government: Corporatocracy
Affiliation: Laranis System Protectorate
Wealth: Low
Stability: High
Freedom & Oppression:
The Laranis System Protectorate is the corporate-run government of the system. A deliberate and painstaking effort has been made to ensure the visage of a free and open society, widespread prosperity, and benevolent rule. However, this is all a mirage. The Protectorate is a ruthless conglomerate of the system’s most wealthy and powerful corporations, backed by a corrupt and powerful Protectorate Security, whose only concern is the acquisition and keeping of wealth and power. While on the surface, all appears well, the Protectorate ruthlessly stifles the pleas and cries of the lower classes – the workers and common people from whose labor they derive enormous profits. Those who try to rise are quickly silenced, and ‘disappearances’ and rushed kangaroo courts are not uncommon. Heavy fees and high costs of living, coupled with corrupt law enforcement, ensure that the common people stay in their place, all while their corporate masters play a life-and-death game, viciously rivaling one another for power and position, using every means available to climb the ladder towards dominion over the system.

MILITARY & TECHNOLOGY
Military: The Protectorate Security is a well-funded and well-equipped paramilitary and law enforcement agency of soldiers, intelligence operatives, and bureaucrats whose ruthless tactics and ferocity ensure the Protectorate’s power and keep the engines of commerce and trade working to their advantage. Recruited from seasoned veterans, mercenaries, and bounty hunters across the galaxy, Security personnel enjoy high wages and privileges far and above that of the ordinary citizen, the price of their loyalty and service.
Technology: Galactic Standard

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
The first colonized world in the system, Laranis II was the sight of a “Gold Rush” as immigrants and prospectors flooded to exploit the many veins of ore and precious resources that filled this arid world. Fortunes were made and lost here, and those who came out on top would eventually create the Laranis System Protectorate.

Laranis II was quickly passed over for the more temperate, pleasant world of Laranis III. What remained here was the working classes, the miners, spacers, and others whose daily struggles and tough living brought forth the massive wealth enjoyed by the corporations. Nothing has ever been built on Laranis II which does not in some way contribute to that. While the capital world enjoys symphonies, museums, parks, and beaches, Laranis II sees only manufacturing plants, refineries, mines, and the places that serve those who work in them.

In its largest settlement, Red Sands, congestion, hardship, crime, and toil are the way of life. In the southern deserts, moisture farmers work night and day to feed the corporate machine with the water needed to keep it working. Solar farms and row after row of wind turbines cover the plains, powering the planet’s many mines and industrial centers. It has been this way on Laranis II for centuries, and for so long as the ‘Old Guard’ of the Protectorate have their way, it will be that way for centuries more.

Good Evening,

This is a nicely put together submission, there are just a few points that caught my eye which I'd like to bring to your attention.

1) Unexploited resources:

Which materials in particular do you see as located on the planet? You mention valuable materials but don't give any indication as to what? This leaves it very vague and could lead to confusion for future writers utalising the planet for RP in the future.

2) Major Locations

I have copied the relavent text from the template below.

Major Locations: [ What are the major locations on your world? Include an explanation on each. ]

While you mention a few locations you don't actually provide any details or explanation about them as is requested by the template. Even a few sentances would give people an idea of what they're dealing with with that location.

Thank you for that adjustment. However, I notice you still haven't adjusted the Unexploited resources. If you could do that then I'll be happy to move the submission on to approval.
