Combat Function: The primary function of the Lancer Corps is to act as a quick, lightning strike force. Their primary focus is in small skirmishing operations, or slamming against the peripheries of a defensive line in an effort to weaken enemy formations. In these scenarios, the Lancer Corps is incredibly effective, but their specialized nature forces them to require support in larger scale engagements. They work well in tandem with other units, acting as a vanguard while heavier artillery gets into position. The pilots themselves aren't heavily armed or armored due to their reliance on speed and mobility, which can be both beneficial and problematic, depending on the scenario. Overall, they are some of the best pilots in the Ashlan military, and are highly regarded as an incredibly effective combat unit.

With the Ashlan military finding themselves fighting in a greater variety of combat encounters, the upper echelons of the Crusade have determined that a great expansion was needed. With the design of the Lancer Mk II came the birth of a new, specialized group of speeder bike pilots dedicated to crushing enemy personnel in quick, decisive maneuvers. The Ashlan military began plucking pilots from their ranks, choosing those that possessed both talent and guts in an effort to fill the ranks of this new military force. Over time, the best of the pilots became the first Lancers, and from them grew a unit that has become a staple in Ashlan tactics. They can now be seen across countless battlefields, acting as the swift arm of Ashla's justice against the enemies of the Crusade.
