PRODUCTION INFORMATION
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Scalable: the L.01x is at its heart a basic principle in a simple package - it can be scaled down to the level of a personal weapon (a blaster sight for example), or scaled up to work alongside turbolasers and heavy starship weaponry (as a targeting array).
STRENGTHS
  • + Pinpoint accuracy: the L.01x is capable of providing exceptional accuracy, even while undergoing complex maneuvers, and works to amplify the effectiveness of mounted weaponry. Essentially, the L.01x guarantees that a much larger percentage of shots fired hit their target than not, fulfilling the philosophy that LIKON weaponry should score as many hits at long range as another weapon system can at medium and close ranges.
WEAKNESSES
  • - Sensor bleed: despite its accuracy, the L.01x suffers greatly from prolonged and sustained fire regardless of the weapon it is mounted on. Due to the proximity of a mounted weapon's energy discharge to the L.01x's return sensor, rapid energy discharges can confuse the sensor and disrupt targeting. In the best case scenario, a precision lock will be lost and accuracy will drop to standard; sustaining fire past this point can result in a complete loss of target lock. It is best not to fire a given weapon more than three seconds continuously, with semi-automatic, stutter, and salvo fire being optimal.
  • - ALERT! Target Lock: while the emitted targeting laser is invisible and does no damage, it is still a high energy modulating targeting beam. Targeting an enemy starship (or anything with decent sensors) with this laser will immediately alert them to being targeted. This device is thus not recommended for those attempting stealth, subterfuge, or utilizing a cloaking device.
DESCRIPTION
The L.01x precision targeting laser consists of a lightweight
plasteel housing (as to not effect weapon pivot speed), carbo-plas mounts, a low powered spectrum laser emitter, and a return sensor. On activation the targeting laser emits a low powered, non-damaging, invisible spectrum laser through a synthetic byrothsis beam gem lens that then paints a target (for only a fraction of a second), scattering its particle beam in the process.

This particle scatter is received by a
dedicated energy receptor and data analyzer, which working in tandem act as a laser tracking unit; the degree, pattern, and strength of scatter is compared to the relative movement and density of the painted target, and firing solutions are calculated from these readings within hundredths of a second.

Should readings be determined inconclusive or below scanning threshold, the spectrum laser's unique ability to modulate itself allows the targeting laser to find the best absorptive frequency for optimal acquisition tracking. To protect the targeting laser from energy pollution, false readings, and background interference, the return sensor is agrinium insulated and ion surge shielded, allowing the sensor to operate without fear of faulty locks (this does not, however, prevent a concentrated ion blast from disabling the targeting laser).
