Name: Kutaan
Designation: Sentient
Homeworld: Cayay
Language: A language of hisses and clicks, called Xinaff by the Shaki
Average height of adults: 3 meters (Lord caste, Worker caste) 4 meters (Soldier caste)
Skin color: Brown exoskeleton
Hair color: None
Breathes: Type I and many Type II atmospheres

Strengths:
Natural weaponry (Soldier Caste): The Soldier Caste of the Kutaans have powerful spikes lining their limbs, perfect natural weaponry, as well as a second row of extremely sharp teeth.
Exoskeletons: All Kutaan have hard exoskeletons that are wonderful for taking brunt impacts. They cannot resist blasterfire, or slugthrower roounds, or even vibroblades, but you'll find it extremely hard to crush them or wound them with blunt impact. They are literally known to survive having building fall on them.
Hardy: Kutaans are known to be able to survgive in extremely high and extremely low temperatures, go for up to a month (save the Queen, who must eat constnatly to upkeep eggs) without eating, and weeks without water. They are known to be able to hold their breath for up to two hours, and survive masive falls without breakage due to their exoskeletons. It's very hard to kill a cockaroach.

Weaknesses:
Vunerable limbs: A Kutaans's limbs are not protected by their exoskeleton, and are prone to damage. (With an exception of the warrior caste's arms)
Difficulty thinking for themselves (Worker caste): Much like droids... Don't give them dificult tasks.
Xenophobic: Kutaans view all other species as inferior, fit only for slaves. That dosen't help their people skills.
Bacta allergy: When touched by Bacta, Kutaans exoskeletons are literally known to dissolve, giving a Kutaan a slow an painful death. No one knows why.
Pyrophobic: As Kutaans secrete a chemical that is highly flammable, and will ignite if an ignitor is held to them for more then a second or two (A blaster bolt wont do it, a lightsaber will, as will a flamecaster), they are highly flammable.
Size: Kutaans are very large compared to humans... Which causes obvious issues, such as the inabilityt o get into most doorways, and the increased chances to be outmanuvered.
Immovable (Queen): The Kutaan Queen is required to be of a massive size, in order to create the huge amounts of eggs needed, and is therefore practically immobile. Though she could be moved by external means, a tractor beam and the like, at the average weight of around 2220 kilograms and roughly the size of a very small ship, the Kutaan Queens are unable to move themselves.

Distinctions: The Kutaans are very large insectoid creatures, greatly resembling earth's roaches. A hard exoskeleton covers their back and internal organs, with six long limbs protruding outwards; two of which are used as legs, which can propell them forwards at amazing speeds, while the front two function as hooked arms ending in three elongated fingers tipped with hooked claws. Their large heads are adorned with a gaping mouth, filled with massive curved teeth perfect for ripping the flesh of living victims.
Average Lifespan: 30 GSY (Lord Caste, Queen) 10 GSY (Soldier Caste), 5 GSY (Worker Caste)
Races: The Queen, Soldier Caste, Lord Caste, Worker Caste
Estimated Population: 10 billion throughout the Nidaam system
Diet: Omnivorious, nearly anything, although theey ecpecially like meat (the fresher the better)
Communication: A hissing clicking language

Culture: The Kutaan are divided into four distinct and strict castes, each with a certain place in the everspanding 'colony empire' of the Kutaan; The Queen, the Worker Caste, the Soldier Caste, and the Lord Caste. The most important consists of a single member; The Queen. The Queen decides what caste any certain batch of eggs will be, by controlling the flow of hormones into each batch of eggs she lays. The Queen also controls how many eggs she can lay, in each batch. Due to this, if the Colony Empire needs more soldiers, she could lay soldiers. If they are in need of a Lord, she lays a lord. The Queen is treated as the ruler of the Colony Empire, choosing and overseeing the lords, and is the only member of the Colony Empire that can lay eggs. However, every queen is born to the Lord Caste, as described below. The Queen can lay between one and one hundred eggs per batch, with a maximum of ten batches per day. With each egg growing into a full adult within a galactic standard week, this means the Colony Empire can be re-populated extremely fast. It should be noted that the Queen is... huge. Immobile.

The Lord Caste consists of five Kutaans at any one time, each overseeing a certain area of the Colony Empire, and are all directed by The Queen. They are hatched to have more independant thought, as well as be more intelligent. This includes The Soldier Overseer, who controls all millitaristic movements of the Colony Empire, second to the queen and hopeful, and oversees the Soldier Caste; The Worker Overseer who controls all matters concerning the Worker Caste as well as controlling the Shaki population, and is in charge of major construction and such; The Agricultural Overseer is in charge of cultivating food for the Colony Empire; There is the Breeder, who is in charge of... welll... fertilizing the eggs, as well as serving the queen hand and foot; and lasty, there is the Hopeful. The Hopeful is a female Kutaan bred to proceed the Queen, and handles anything that the Queen can not, often acxting as her proxy, as she is unable to leave her palace due to her sheer size. When the former Queen dies, a vast amount of hormones activate in the Hopeful, slowly transforming her and preparing her for her vast egg laying load.

The Soldier Caste are the members of the Colony Empire bred ecpecially for warfare. Typically short lived, the Soldiers typcailly die out when not needed, and are quickly laid again when war begins. They are typicaly hardier and stronger, as well as larger, then the average Kutaan, making them formdible oppenants, and powerful warriors. Though the Soldier Caste can fully use modern weaponry, and they often deploy blaster rifles and the like, they are also equiped well for hand to hand, with large spike protruding from their arms and legs, and a second row of teeth.

Lastly, is the Worker Caste. Their job originally was to do everything that wasn't fighting or leading. They would build structures, farm food, be servants to the Lord Caste, mine metals, and anything else that could be done. However, as the Shaki were discovered and taken as slaves, the Worker Caste were needed less and less, and are now reserved only for the enviroments in which Shaki cannot work, or are to weak to do sucessfully.

Daily life among the Kutaan is simple. Do whatever they were born to do. Kutaan do not sleep, and can go several days without eating (save for the queen, who must eat constantly to sustain her eggs). Their are simplle; Soldiers fight.Workers work. Thhe lords lead the soldiers and workers. The queen eats, and lays eggs. The Kutaan have no arts, religion, holidays or sports. Their lives are straight-forward. Do what you were born to do, until you die.

Technology level: Slightly below Galactic Standard; basic blaster weaponry, ships with low-power weapons and hyperdrives, etc.

General behavior: As a species, the Kutaan can be described in three words; Arrogant, Violent, and self-righteous. They typically view all other species as inferior, and only worthy of slaves. They are known to prefer violence and war over all other soulutions, and are prone to declare war on a potential threat long before reasoning with them.

Other then that, personalities vary am,ong the castes. Worker drones are barely sentient, incapable of all but basic speech, and lack any form of free will. They are literally unable to do something unless directly ordered to by a superior. If you tell them to make you a sandwhich, they may make you one out of stones and grass. Any commands must be extremely specific, or the typically dumb Worker Caste will probably fail to do as you asked. This is the main reason the Kutaan turned to Shaki slaves. Soldiers are even more violent then most, and are known to fight without emotions such as fear, or anger; as well as seeming not to even feel pain. They fight, until they die. The Lord Caste tend to be the most intelligent, and the least violent (though still very prone to violence) then the other castes, and the most capable of free thought- allowing them to form personalities easier.

History: The Kutaan evolved from insects on their home planet of Cayay, and eventually formed a form a sentience based around a Queen, much as it is today. For thousands of years they lived as a primitive species, living in basic buildings made of stone, and fighting with spears and their own natural weaponry. When Humans arrived on Barafka, and later attempted to colonize Cayay, they were first introduced to modern technology. And they took to it quickly. Within fifty years, the Kutaan began to colonize the other planets in the system, forcing the humans of all of them other then Barafka, and enslaving the Shaki as workers. From there, a war sparked among the humans of Barafka and the Kutaan, which ended only when the humans agreed to keep their settlements on Barafka, and leave the rest of the system to the Kutaan. The Kutaan reluctantly accepted, and settled the other planets of the system.

Theophenes

Stark raving silly
Okay, a few things:

  • I need a weight/size number for the queen. I can understand if the queen is the size of a boat or something, but I still need a number.
  • How are Queens born in the life-cycle? Doe the queen create an heir near the end of her life?
  • The series of clicking noises needs a name. I'm not particular, but it should have an actual name of some kind. Kuutanese/Kuutanesh, maybe?

Overall, these guys make my skin crawl, in the right way. I like the flammability as a weakness.

[member="Theophenes"] I apologize for taking a day to get to this, I'm on LOA due to my computer deciding to die. Glad these guys have the expected effect of being extremely creepy. :) I put a lot of work into them.

1.) New weakness added for the queen
2.) The Queen is born as a 'Hopeful', of the Lord Caste, who serves as the queen s proxy to anything that needs to be done outside of her palace hive. When the former Queen dies, the Hopeful undergoes a metamorphisis where she becomes the new queen. If both queen and hopeful die, dozens of the females of the hive would attempt to go into metamorphisis, which would cause extreme disarray within the Colony Empire, and would result in them killing eachother until one queen is left.
3.) Added. :)
