STRENGTHS
  • Power of the Winter: The Borealis utilizes cryogenic freezing technology to create ultra-cold blaster bolts. These blaster bolts, by the nature of their temperature, have the potential to freeze and shatter objects upon impact.
  • Small Size: The smaller frame of the Borealis allows it to be concealed more easily and makes it less cumbersome.
  • Long Range: With a low rate of fire and recoil, as well as blaster bolts that only dissipate over a longer range, the Borealis is quite capable at long ranges.
  • High Worth: The antiquity, rarity, and design of the Borealis make it an extremely valuable weapon to own.
WEAKNESSES
  • Rate of Fire: The lower rate of fire of the Borealis makes it ineffective against larger groups of enemies.
  • Bite of the Cold: Due to the constant freezing process of the cryogenic gasses within the Borealis, the internal temperature of the weapon is very cold. A coating of liquid ethylene glycol prevents this from becoming frost and from the cold encroaching on any essential components and keeps the weapon functional, but gloves are recommended when handling this weapon.
  • Disabling Heat: When extreme -- emphasis on extreme -- heat is applied to the weapon, the cryogenic freezing process can be somewhat or completely sabotaging, rendering the weapon less effective or inoperable until it can be brought down to a safe temperature.
DESCRIPTION
Gunsmiths, a famed and revered subject of those who work at the Forge, devote their lives to crafting new and exotic weapons.

Weapons are the religion of the Mandalorians, as the saying goes, and if it were completely true then it would make gunsmiths priests among their brethren. Those who labored under the banner of Clan Kyron were gunsmiths of near-unparalleled level, working under the tutelage of the five Forgemasters to learn how to harness the power of winter in their weapons, creating cryogenic blasters of great infamy.

The KSTR-20 Borealis Heavy Blaster Pistol is designed to be a heavy-duty model of sidearm used by Mandalorian gunslingers and warriors. Not cumbersome or bulky, it is able to deliver high-impact cryogenic blaster bolts over long-range, putting emphasis on performance and stability over a high rate-of-fire found on most sidearms. It is an extremely useful weapon, and any Mandalorian that is able to get their hands on one will find their arsenal supplemented by a capable and deadly weapon.
