OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: I am making this submission to create a playable character race loosely based off the more horde like cultures such as Huns, The Mongols, and Scythians for people to partake in. As well as to provide story for other factions, namely The Jedi Order.

GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Name: Krasgrig
  • Designation: Sentient
  • Homeworld: Yon-Duhn
  • Language: Galactic Basic, Krasgorian
  • Average Lifespan: 150
  • Estimated Population: Inter-Planetary
  • Description: When one first looks upon the species they may find themselves wondering if they’re even looking upon individuals of the same species. The appearance of a Krasgrig ranges from what could appear to be slightly human to monstrosities that will leave people wondering what beast they just looked upon. It is not rare to find Krasgrig to have bodies forged of hardened muscle from years and years of strenuous work in fields and from their time in battle. Their skin can range from what appears to be human colors to outside that range where one could even stumble across a blue Krasgrig. Though one common theme even amongst the more human of their number is that all their teeth are sharpened and appear capable of rending flesh.
PHYSICAL INFORMATION
  • Breathes: Type 1
  • Average height of adults: 1.8-2.5
  • Average length of adults: N/A
  • Skin color: Albino White, Pale, Tan, Red, Blue, Brown, ect...
  • Hair color: Black, White, Brown, Blonde, Red
  • Distinctions: In terms of appearance one may be concerned when trying to discern a Krasgrig from other species wondering where they truly originated from. Their appearance ranges from humanlike where they can appear human in numerous ways except for their mouth full of sharpened teeth and the strange colors that their skin can be found in such as green or red. A majority of Krasgrig’s skin will be within the range of Caucasian up to a Tan color. Many of them possess hair all over their bodies almost resembling fur in some instances though this is usually those who are the purest of Krasgrig. With a height ranging from 1.8 meters to 2.5 the Krasgrig can be anywhere from the average height of a majority in the galaxy to as tall as even Wookies if not surpassing them in some instances. Being an amalgamation of all the species they bred with is what grants the Krasgrig their wide variation of appearances. Some will sprout horns on occasion possibly calling back to a time when zabraks had possibly been brought into their fold.

The more abominable of the species often resemble some of the more horrific species in the galaxy, some having rodent like faces with beady eyes, with pointed ears. Their visage often scarred or mutilated due to battle. In short, this species can appear to be a range of things but it is always apparent that they are Krasgrig due to their teeth which if compared to anything are as sharp as a piranha’s. Being a warrior culture the Krasgrig all possess hardened bodies, it is rare even for the elderly to be seen out of shape. Their clothing is often minimal while at rest or working fields, men will often wear nothing more than loincloths while women may wear wrappings around their chest and a skirt of some kind. It is only during times of celebration that the Krasgrig are seen dawning ceremonial robes often being crimson or violet in color. These robes have odd swirl designs and other such shapes often to denote their tribe, these designs almost always being gold. In times of war the smaller of the Krasgrig will dawn full on battle armor resembling that of Atrisian’s while the larger ones often simply strap plates of metal to the vital areas of their body. Finding Krasgrig that bear scars is no major accomplishment as a majority of them see Scars on the males as badges of honor showing how close they came to death while on women its seen more as a beauty mark drawing admiration from men.

  • Races: N/A
  • Strengths:

  • Muscle Fibers: While humans and most other closely related species only use a few muscle fibers when committing themselves to a physical task the Krasgrig use nearly all theirs in such causing their strength to exceed that of a humans’ dependent on the size of the Krasgrig itself. Where the human sized ones may clock in at two times stronger than a human the largest of the species can outwrestle a Wookie and even match a Gen’dai for a short period of time.

  • Battle Cry: All Krasgrig are born with a natural cry that they use in times of battle or great passion usually resulting in those nearby being dazed or disoriented while those further out will hear their cry and often be struck by fear of knowing the Krasgrig are coming.

  • Bone Density/Structure: To compensate for the increase of muscle fibers used during physical tasks and movement over time the Krasgrig bones have become denser and more structurally sound as without a denser skeleton their bones would be crushed from the muscle spasms when they sneezed or vomited. As such this makes it more difficult to break their bones and actually hurts more when someone hits them.

  • Breeding: The main reason in which there is such a vast difference in one Krasgrig to the other is due to the species ability to breed with nearly any other humanoid species without the need for surgery or medical intervention. In the eyes of the Krasgrig this makes them the ultimate species. (This does not mean they possess the abilities of any other species, eg: if bred with a Zeltron they would be considered a Krasgig and possess none of the Zeltron abilities.)

  • Weaknesses:

  • Darkness: Whether it be due to a genetic mutation or caused by the way the Krasgrig evolved their eyes do not possess the ability to see in the dark to the point where even a dimly lit cave is an issue for them.

  • High Metabolism: Due to more of their muscle fibers being used in everything they do a Krasgig is forced to eat up to three times more than a human for the smaller ones of the species while the larger ones are almost always eating more than even a starving wookie. If they do not take in enough food and nutrients their bodies will enter a state where it starts devouring itself. Muscles will begin to be eaten away in hours instead of days and weeks like other species. The pain will be unbearable bringing a Krasgig to their knees and within five hours of not eating a Krasgig will be brain dead due to their body cannibalizing itself drawing nutrients away from the brain. An hour after this state the Krasgrig will die.

  • White Fieljine: A poison often thought to only be lethal to the Falleen is also incredibly lethal to the Krasgrig where even the smallest dose of it will cause their throat to swell, lead to painful migraines and eventually death if not treated.

  • Muscle Control: While their use of muscle fibers grants them more strength than a human it does make smaller tasks that don't require strength incredibly difficult as a Krasgrig will often end up bending or outright breaking something they were working on. It takes many years for them to learn to limit themselves and even then that isn't a guarantee.

  • Bacta Allergy: Bacta one of the most vital creations the galaxy has ever known, capable of healing even the most severe of wounds is downright lethal to the Krasgrig. A small injection of it is enough to bring a Krasgrig to their knees from pain alone while larger doses can land them in a coma or lead to death. Aerosol versions when breathed in lead to Krasgrig’s throats closing and them falling unconscious due to being unable to breathe.

  • Skeletal Structure: While it is significantly harder to break the bones of a Krasgrig it is also harder for one to repair those that are broken. If not set properly it isn’t out of the realm of possibility for the bones to grow outwards protruding from the skin. Even if its set properly while it may take weeks or months for a human to repair a broken bone it would take Krasgrig far longer approaching years just to repair something as simple as their arm.

  • Cybernetic Rejection: Whether it be due to a mutation in their genetics over time for some reason the Krasgrig have developed the unusual trait of rejecting all cybernetics to the point where if infected a virus begins spreading through their body killing the individuals over time due to rejecting the cybernetics.

CULTURE
  • Diet: The Krasgrig are an omnivorous species that focuses on an equal consumption of meats and vegetables or fruits so that their bodies are always nourished properly for their times in the field, on the hunt or at war. There is no food too foul for the species to eat as due to their metabolism they are not allowed to truly be picky nor is it in their culture to waste food with those who do receiving lashings for their wastefulness. In dire times, it is not out of the question for the Krasgrig to turn to cannibalism devouring the weak so that the strong and young will survive another day. Meat must go with every meal and the Krasgrig will not settle for less. Amenities such as wine and liquors are reserved for times of celebration only as their minds must remain sharp un case of a looming threat. Ingested poisons affect the Krasgrig like they would any other species except for one, White Fieljine. White Fieljine is a poison considered lethal to only Falleen, but Krasgrig contain a similar vulnerability where the smallest pinch could cause a Krasgrig’s throat to begin to swell, for migraines to form, all side effects leading up to death in mere minutes if not treated.
  • Communication: Vocal, Body Language: While the Krasgrig can communicate through vocal languages such as Galactic Basic and their own mother tongue they prefer to use methods such as body language in times of battle to better catch their enemies off guard and not give away their strategies. These involve everything from subtle movements like the movement of fingers, rolling of shoulders to full on gestures using their fists, arms and full body.
  • Technology level: Technology for the Krasgrig has never been a focus for their culture, originally, they were nothing but a nomadic people who possessed little technology throughout a majority of their history, it was only when unsuspecting individuals came across their planet that the Krasgrig indoctrinated them and their technology as a whole. This has brought them up to Galactic Standards in many ways enabling the creation of blaster weaponry, slugthrowers and other forms of weaponry up to turbolasers. They’ve even been able to create their own starships, the one thing they’re lacking is the ability to craft Hyperdrives which confines them to their planet. Despite this and the knowledge of how to create facilities to control select areas environments the Krasgrig prefer to continue living in huts use as little technology as possible. Some would say it’s as though they don’t trust the technology.
  • Religion/Beliefs: There was never a true name given to the religion in which the Krasgrig worship, instead they follow Shamanistic practices with each tribe possessing anywhere from one to three shamans’ capable of reaching out to the force. The Krasgrig have come to believe that these shaman’s and the force itself will provide for them as they’ve begun referring to it as “The Great Ejine”. The Great Ejine in the eyes of the Krasgrig referred to the energy of the planet itself, of the plants, and of the great beyond where all those loyal would return to. Biannually the Krasgrig tribes set aside their hostilities for a time of peace where they spend their time celebrating the life The Great Ejine had granted them. This is one of the few occasions where one will ever find the Krasgrig drinking and is one of the times where they do not have to commit a sacrifice in the name of The Great Ejine. On any other day the Krasgrig will sacrifice their foe or a small portion of what they gathered in the name of The Great Ejine in hopes that they will be blessed with the strength to defeat their foes and be welcomed by an abundant harvest.

To become a shaman one must be naturally in contact with The Great Ejine in which the shamans examine every child after their birth to determine their connection and if they’ll make a worthy addition to their ranks. Only those with the potential to harness The Great Ejine and utilize it in a variety of ways are accepted so while the initial examination at birth might have shown one having the potential to be a shaman they can just as easily be washed out. Those who fail to succeed in connecting with The Great Ejine and becoming a shaman are exiled from their tribe where they are forever unable to join another till they either prove themselves capable of contacting The Great Ejine or dying alone and away from their people. A fate worse than death for a Krasgrig.

When utilizing The Great Ejine the shamans use what many in the rest of the galaxy would refer to as witchcraft similar to what the Sith or Dathomirian witches would practice. This often times took the form of them using it to destroy the minds of their foes, induce hallucinations, mass illusions or even resurrecting the dead in some of the more extreme cases. There are of course those who prefer to use it in more physical aspects such as bolstering their body for great feats, or even controlling the elements themselves. The sky is the limit for a Shaman, those who have become too obsessed with their power and position in life are not above striking down those who question them or secreting them away to never be seen again.
  • General behavior: The culture of the Krasgrig was built off battle, the right of the strong and the preservation of their own people. Since the very beginning these have been the main tenants that laid the groundwork for what the Krasgrig would grow into. An amalgamation of other species that they bred themselves with in search of spreading their influence till there is naught but the Krasgrig, till their influence is either accepted by all or till they’re the only ones that remain. As such it is no shock that the Krasgrig are a warrior like race, from their birth great things are expected. The strong and healthy are often taken and kept by their parents a ritual being committed welcoming the newborn to their tribe celebrating yet another warrior. The weak and sickly when birthed are carried out to a nearby river or ocean by their parents where they are then drowned as the weak cannot be allowed to destroy all that the Krasgrig have spent millennia working towards.

In Krasgrig society there was no need for tiers of society, there was no distinguishing of rich and poor as those didn’t exist. When one joined a tribe, they were among that tribe for life and would be treated as though family. The only exception is those who fail to surrender themselves to the Krasgrig culture, these individuals are seen as lower than the dirt and are nothing more than slaves to the Krasgrig to man their fields, work on their technology and other such menial tasks. They are rarely fed often times starved to the point of being near death before any mercy is granted. Water is rarely permitted more than once a day and this treatment continues till the individual gives in to the Krasgrig. If it is more than one individual such as an entire tribe or village the Krasgrig will fall upon it razing the entire village to the ground keeping just one of the members alive forcing them to watch as everything they knew before them was destroyed.

There is no discrimination between men and women in the Krasgrig society, if anything women are more so revered as they are the ones that bring about the next generations of Krasgrig. They are held in high esteem and are no strangers to battle as they too join the battle. One of the key issues in Krasgrig society is that those unable to give birth or who have given birth to a weak child will often times take their own lives to atone for their perceived sins of bearing a weak child or unable to contribute anything to their people.

Being a warrior culture battle is considered a pastime of the Krasgrig where they will wage war on other tribes simply for the sport of battle or participate in pit fights to prove their mettle and show who reigns supreme. This has even led to arenas being built where people will travel across all of the planet to either participate or watch battles between Krasgrig and what creatures they captured or their slaves.

The tribes of the Krasgrig are split up according to name, usually of the tribes’ chieftain who leads their tribe into battle. Above the Chieftans is The Great Qrul, an individual that is considered the ruler of all Krasgrig, the one whose word is absolute law. The issue with The Great Qrul is that only those proclaimed to be worthy by the Krasgrig shamans can claim the title and must prove they’re worthy through heroic acts in battle, and devotion to The Great Ejine. When there isn’t a Great Qrul to lead his people the Krasgrig tribes stay fractured where they war with each other or other nearby societies, villages or tribes for no other reason than to spread their influence to prove themselves the greater clan.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION

The beginning of the Krasgrig race is near impossible to trace, some historical records kept by the Krasgrig themselves that their orgins started long ago, back when the Coruscanti originally sent out sleeper ships to planets across the galaxy looking to populate them. One of these sleeper ships were knocked off course by an Ion Storm causing these humans to land on the planet of Yon-Duhn. A planet that was hostile in many ways, it was as though everything on the planet wished to be rid of their new settlers. Suffice to say what the humans found wasn’t what they had been expecting what they were welcomed by was a primitive species equipped with naught but spears and swords. The human’s first thoughts were to make peace with the species but they were instead welcomed with violence. There was a large disconnect as the native species didn’t speak basic nor was the reverse possible for the humans. This eventually led to a war where the humans were forced to defend themselves, the sleeper ship they had inhabited during their sleep had become their home as they were harassed by the primitive species.

Of course, all it takes is one individual, one person with the strength of will to stand up for their people. This individual was Ragruk, a human male one who possessed a deep-seated rage, and with that rage there was a power he could harness. Ragruk attempted to rally his people against the savages that harassed them, to make them stand up for themselves but none would. Ragruk was alone the one with the courage and strength to stand on his feet against their enemies. Angered by the betrayal of his own people Ragruk set off in the dead of night. Days passed, those days turned into weeks and those weeks into months. Ragruk was long thought to be dead, but on one faithful day as the star above was eclipsed Ragruk returned with the primitives at his back. Tribal paint upon his face and tattoos adorning his skin Ragruk had integrated himself among the species, not only that but had come to lead them due to his own might. Ragruk was the first Great Qrul, the one that set the foundation and what he offered the humans that had been upon the vessel with him was either a painful death or to join under his rule. Ragruk was now a man of power, one who believed only the strong and just could rule, that order came before all else and the only order there could be was his own.

This led into a long line of conquests across all Yon-Duhn where these people crossed the planet, a nomadic people always in search of battle, in search of the next conquest and expanding Ragruk’s empire. One that continued to grow long after his death. Eventually over time due to the intermingling of the native species the original incarnation of the Krasgrig was brought to life. The frequent ion storms often brought new species and creatures to Yon-Duhn where they were soon brought into the fold of the species after being either defeated or resigning to their fate willingly. The Krasgrig were able to hold out against all the expeditionary fleets that came and landed on their world whether it be the Sith, or the Yuuzhan Vong the Krasgrig fought back chasing the invaders off their world as everyone was a warrior on the planet and they would never stand kneel or bow to another besides their rightful Qrul.

With Yon-Duhn located far out in Wild Space the Krasgrig were practically unaware of all the other events that brought the galaxy to the brink, however when the Netherworld event took place many of their number including the Great Qrul of the time vanished none ever being heard from again. This has left the Krasgrig in a time of turmoil as battles between tribes which had once been for sport were now taking place in the name of power.
