PRODUCTION INFORMATION
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
  • Classification: Neural
  • Size: Average
  • Weight: Average
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Compatible with exterior electronics and systems, information from the Kioku-1 can be sent to computers.
  • Audio and video memories can be viewed by exterior electronics or Fukashi's N5 Optical Implant.
STRENGTHS
  • Remember Anything: Holding ten petabytes worth of information in vivid, graphic detail. The Kioku-1 is able to store four human lifetimes worth of combined memories, knowledge and skills. Given that this is incredibly unlikely to be filled by human experiences alone, the remaining memory can be used to supplement the NeuroProcessor's other functions and contribute to the running of the customer's other cybernetics and CoProcessors.
  • Learn Anything: By taking their Kioku-1 out, customers can then connect their CoProcessor to any kind of interface which is compatible with such a large amount of information (Fukashi networks are capable of this for a fee) and download whatever information, knowledge or skills they desire. Although a customer who adopts a skill like this-- such as flying a starship for example will never be as good as someone who was taught naturally, they will still be able to instantly learn the basics of more or less anything they desire.
  • Share Anything: Any information which is stored on the Kioku-1 can be digitally transferred to any other individual with a Kioku-1 installed, in practice this means that anything which the owner has within their mind they can directly send to anyone else with the CoProcessor. Needless to say the applications for such technology are far and wide, and will as Fukashi Electric like to state - "Bring people closer in ways we never thought possible."
WEAKNESSES
  • Remain Installed: Once the implantation of the Kioku-1 is complete and it has set itself up to function, all information which the owner takes in from that point forward will be transferred onto the Kioku-1 until the point in which it is removed. This means that if they were to have it removed, the skills and knowledge they had acquired from the point of installation will be taken with it, and although they can be reviewed remotely, or simply installed back in. This proves quite a conundrum for any would-be buyers as it essentially locks them out of one of the Nakaioma NeuroProcessor's slots as replacing the Kioku-1 with another CoProcessor would ultimately be too inconvenient.
DESCRIPTION
The first CoProcessor built for the Nakaioma NeuroProcessor, the Kioku-1 Storage CoProcessor is the recommended beginner's CoProcessor by Fukashi Electric. Like all CoProcessors it is designed to be slotted into the side of the main processing unit via a quick and easy surgery through the miniscule entrance port on the customer's spine and can begin working permanently after an hour-long boot-up process. Maintaining a ten petabyte storage space, or approximately four times the size of the average human brain's storage ability, the Kioku is truly a remarkable work of neural engineering and is used by most of its customers primarily as a means of storing vastly greater amounts of information, learned skills and memories in vivid, easily recallable detail. Like its PR slogan says "Remember Everything."

Not restricted to solely augmenting the original human processes, the Kioku-1 can also supplement the Nakaioma NeuroProcessor's handling of other cybernetics and CoProcessors which are installed into the customer's body, allowing everything to run faster, smoother and with less chance of error or gradual degrading. The Kioku-1 can also be removed by Fukashi specialists while holding onto the integrity of the memories within, although this has been described as an incredibly odd and in the worst cases- a very uncomfortable experience to have memories and information taken from one's mind, these can still be accessed by the customer at any time by connecting their Kioku-1 CoProcessor into the nearest terminal and viewing the contents on the interface as if they were reading or watching the HoloNet. Customers may also choose to have it inserted back into their Nakaioma NeuroProcessor at the customer's choosing.
