"We will,"

Valery smiled at his response, as it at least affirmed that some of her attempts to get on the good side of the Mandalorians had been working. Not that all of this was just a trick to get them to like her and other Jedi — on the contrary. She came here to train and learn about them, and in return, they were able to learn more about the Jedi. It created at least some respect, and with the Brotherhood of the Maw being recognized as a great threat by both, it was only natural to work together.

Soon, she'd certainly take the chance to more directly aid the Enclave on their side of the war. As a thank you for all they've done for her, and to show that she was serious about this alliance.

"But what do you think will come after?"

The question and what he explained directly after got Valery to go quiet for a moment, as she thought about his words. They reminded her of an old conversation she had not long after she got out of stasis. No matter how many times the Sith and other Galactic threats were defeated, there always seemed to be another ready to pop up. "I'm from a time long ago, and back then it was very similar. Even after defeating enemies at the scale of the Maw or the Sith Empire, the peace times that followed never lasted forever."

She paused and frowned, "I don't think winning this war will be any different, but it won't stop me either. Whether my service ends in my death or not, I will never stop standing up for what I believe in. I hope that I do get to experience a time of peace in the Galaxy, but I'll be ready to defend the Alliance in times of war, always."

Valery raised her drink up to her lips and while she took a sip, the waiter arrived with their meals and presented them on the table in front of the two. It all looked and smelled fantastic, so of course, it sparked more stomach growls from Valery, who wasted no more time and dug in. Only when she realized that she wasn't being the most proper lady, did she look up with a slightly sheepish smile. "Sorry, I was just... very hungry," she chuckled and used a napkin to clean up her lips a little.

"How is your food?"

Although her revelation that she once lived in a different era in the past had raised an eyebrow from the giant in intrigue, the man remained silent and listened to the the woman speak like a true warrior she was, one dedicated towards her people at that; as Valery voiced her belief the arch enemy would be nothing more than another foe to be defeated in the fields of battle, and the determination of iron in her voice to back up her statement, the giant of a Mandalorian could not help a heartfelt smile emerge from his scar ridden features as the giant hearkened to her words. Occasionally, as he listened to her in silence, the giant would give a nod of his head at the Master Jetii, wordlessly acknowledging and extending his agreement with her sentiment regarding the subject matter they were discussing.

As he expected, her answer was relatively close to what the giant assumed she’d answer. It was true that for every enemy they would defeat, a new one threat just as dangerous as the last one, perhaps dangerous than the one before even more so, would emerge from the darkest corners of the galaxy, and would take their place as their successors at threatening the galaxy; but it was also true that whether their duty towards their own people would come to an end with only their deaths in the or not, they would not relent from their servitude.

Those who would come after them would take their place if they were fallen in battle, undoubtedly.

An undertone chuckle escaped his lips at the mention of a time of peace in the galaxy; the Vizsla Alor shook his head slowly in disagreement with that sentiment of the Master Jetii’s. He did not ever entertain the idea of a galaxy in peace; there would be none, not for the likes of him. While the enemies of the Mando’ade still drew breath, there could be no peace for the giant.

And their enemies were many.

The man would be denied further thought on such things as the faint, pleasant to the ear mechanical whir of the service droid’s rolling wheel reached his ears. Glancing to his left, away from Valery’s visage, he’d see the droid bringing their order on the service tray it held in its hands. Presenting their ordered meals before them, the man gave the droid a curt nod of his head as the droid reached and took his empty pint for a refill before leaving.

Although the appetizing smell of food wafting in the air had worked up the giant’s own appetite, he did not hungrily attack his food unlike the starving Master Jetii sitting before him. Picking up a fork, the giant took a sizable bite from the large pie on his plate; letting his taste buds feast, closing his eyes as he slowly chewed the bite, the man savored the taste of the hot, spicy ground roba in his mouth before eventually swallowing it.

"Sorry, I was just... very hungry,"

The man opened his eyes as she raised an apology to him. The giant grinned at her in response as the woman drew a napkin to her lips with a kind chuckle. “You needn’t apologize,” he said unbothered as he took another bite from his meal. “We are neither royalty, nor is this a fancy banquet. Relax. the giant muttered kindly with a chuckle, at an attempt to appease her concern of appearing uncouth. They came here to satisfy one of the basic needs of any living being, after all. Coming out a bacta tank after spending a full day inside one had only increased her desire to satisfy that two fold at the very least.

"How is your food?"

The kind grin on his scarred visage remained as he glanced down at his meal with a slow nod of his head. “Well, it can’t hold a candle to my mother’s, that much is for certain; but it is the next best thing,” the giant muttered at an answer to her inquiry; his voice trilled with a faint hint of bitter longing, almost unnoticeable when the giant made a mention of his mother. For a brief moment, the man would seem deep in thought as he slowly chewed another bite from his roba pie before eventually glancing up from his dish. “How about yours?” the giant asked in return with a kind, genuine smile. “Did you like it?”

The mention of her being from a long time ago seemed to spark a bit of a reaction, which reminded her that she hadn't actually told him much about her past at all. However, before she got a chance to go into more detail, their food was set on the table between them. With how hungry she was, the idea of talking to him about the days of the Old Republic faded for a bit, and she dug in like she hadn't eaten in days. This brought out the more sheepish side in her again. as she the normally well-mannered Jedi Master had faded for a moment.

Luckily though, he didn't seem particularly bothered by it.

"You needn't apologize,"

"We are neither royalty, nor is this a fancy banquet. Relax."

"You make a good point," she said with a soft chuckle before she dug right back in. At her pace, the food was disappearing from her plate fairly quickly, but she always made sure others didn't feel rushed about getting through their meals. She enjoyed their company a lot more than the taste of her food.

"Well, it can't hold a candle to my mother's, that much is for certain; but it is the next best thing,"

A more teasing grin struck her lips in response, "Ah, momma's boy, hm?" she smiled and meant well with the statement, but she also picked up on how his demeanor shifted a little and forced her smile to feel more apologetic in nature. "I think my daughter would agree with you, though. Nothing is better than dinner prepared by mom or dad." She smiled lovingly and looked at her food for a moment.

"My meal is quite good too, and it definitely fills." She tapped her stomach and looked at him for a moment, which helped her remember something. "I don't think I've told you much about my past before, hm? Normally I wouldn't want to bore people with history, but I noticed my comment earlier catching you by surprise a little."

"I was born in the days of what we now call the Old Republic, roughly 300 years after the Mandalorian Wars. I ended up in a very long stasis, but that's why I said what I said."

"Ah, momma's boy, hm?"

The Giant chuckled at the woman’s response to his remark about the taste or rather, the lack there of, regarding his food.Mm-hmm, an acknowledging grunt at her voiced sentiment escaped him as he chewed another sizable bite he took from his roba pie with his fork. She got him there, admittedly. A meal prepped and cooked by one’s beloved mother… there wasn’t anything like it.

He missed her dearly.

When it happened, it was difficult for The Giant to come into terms with the fact; the loss of the woman who had taught her what it meant to be a Mandalorian, who prepared him for the rite of passage into adulthood in Mandalorian terms ever since the day he could walk and talk, since he was but a Foundling; his Verd’goten. Losing a person one deeply loved and cared for was never easy to begin with. Quite the contrary. It weighed down on one’s heart, heavily.

But such was life. The Mando'ade called for her, and she had given her life in their defense, protecting what meant the most to her; she fell in battle for him.

On Mandalore she had begun the long march; her soul had finally become one with his father’s in the Manda at the end, watching over The Giant from the Oversoul. To wallow in sorrow in their memory would have been a disservice towards their deeds, however. He remembered and cherished whatever memory he had of them; the sweet joy of such memories were intertwined with the bitterness of mourning.

Aay’haan.

It was the Mandalorian way of mourning the passing of kin, comrades, or a beloved; anyone they held dear to their heart. Bittersweet mourning.

"I think my daughter would agree with you, though. Nothing is better than dinner prepared by mom or dad." She smiled lovingly and looked at her food for a moment.

He swallowed his bite before stating his agreement to her statement. ”I could not agree more,” The Giant concurred with the Master Jetii at her remark with a heartfelt smile. The gentle electrical hum and whirr of the service droid reached his ears as it approached him with the refilled pint of ne’tra gal. Extending his gratitude to the service droid in a silent nod of his head, the giant raised the refilled pint of the sweet sticky ale to his lips, taking a hefty swig of the drink as the Master Jetii expressed her liking of her food before talking of a different topic.

About to take another bite of his meal, the man abruptly paused at the revelation. Lost for words for a moment, The Giant lowered the fork onto his plate as his dark brown eyes glistened with a curious glint. She was from an era several millennia ago! A number of questions began to whirl in his mind as he regarded the woman sitting before him intently. Although he did not intend to drown her in a bunch of questions regarding her past, he was curious about several things. He never would have thought one could be suspended in stasis for so long.

“You must have been far more hungry when you were thawed out of stasis, compared to spending a day inside a bacta tank,” The Giant quipped as a warm smile emerged from his clean shaven, scarred features. “Why were you put on stasis in the first place, though?”
