- Name: Kaitomaw
- Designation: Non-Sentient
- Origins: Ahch-To (canon) Ahch-To (Chaos Canon)
- Average Lifespan: 800 years
- Estimated Population: Rare
- Description: A leviathan of the Ahch-To abyss, the kaitomaw is an aquatic Sithspawn of terrifying scale. From the tip of its obsidian horn to the trailing edge of its dorsal fin, its body is built for destruction. Its maw houses rows of interlocking fangs designed not merely to bite but to shred starship hulls. The creature's eyes burn with a fixed golden fire a visible mark of the dark side infused into its flesh. Scattered across its body are specialized bladders that allow it to gulp surface air, enabling brief but devastating breaches from the sea.
- Breathes: Brachial lungs (Type I atmosphere and underwater)
- Average Height of Adults: 500 m
- Average Length of Adults: 4,000 m
- Skin Color: Varying oceanic blues with a pale grey underbelly for countershading
- Hair Color: N/A
- Distinctions:
- Dense, resonant horn (modified tooth)
- Hydrostatic air bladders for emergency surface breaching
- Races: N/A
- Force Sensitivity: All
- Penetrating Horn: The kaitomaw's horn is a specialized tooth that resonates at frequencies capable of weakening molecular bonds. Infused with dark side energy and nearly indestructible, it can pierce capital ship hulls and has been known to crack planetary shields given enough momentum.
- Sithspawn Origin: Forged in the fires of ancient alchemical wars, the kaitomaw was brought to Ahch-To as a siege weapon against the Jedi temples. Its very presence churns the deep waters into hazardous maelstroms.
- Harvestable Resources: A slain kaitomaw is a fortune for those brave or desperate enough to claim it.
- Bones: Jade-colored and crystalline, these resonate with the Force and can serve as lightsaber focusing crystals.
- Horn: Capable of piercing beskar and Vonduun crab armor, this specialized tooth is prized by elite hunters and weapon smiths.
- Blubber & Meat: Edible for most species. When rendered, the blubber produces a hyperfuel additive that can exponentially boost engine output for short bursts.
- Scales: Thickened by deep-ocean pressure and reinforced with the dark side, scales can resist lightsaber strikes and absorb turbolaser fire for a limited duration before failing.
- Biosacks: These alchemically constructed organs can project a resonance-absorptive shield, converting incoming blaster energy into a devastating omnidirectional discharge (similar to the Shadowfang Beast).
- Hibernation Cycle: The kaitomaw's primary survival mechanism is also its greatest vulnerability. It sleeps for decades or centuries in the deep, awakening only in response to strong Force presences. In the absence of such stimuli, it becomes sluggish and enters a catatonic state, easy prey for organized hunters.
- Force Creature Dependency: As a Sithspawn, the kaitomaw's dark side infusion is a double-edged sword. Force nullification technology or artifacts cause it physical distress and weaken its hide. Conversely, its dark side signature acts as a beacon to Force-sensitives. Harvested hides lose their protective potency rapidly unless treated with Sith alchemy.
- Force Light Susceptibility: Pure, weaponized light side energy particularly Force Light burns the kaitomaw like acid. Paradoxically, the creature is drawn to such displays, unable to resist the concentration of Force energy even as it destroys them.
- Diet: Carnivore (schools of fish, large marine predators, occasional surface vessels)
- Communication: Ultrasonic cries (subsonic components can induce nausea in nearby humanoids)
- Technology Level: N/A
- Religion/Beliefs:The Thalassian Keepers of Ahch-To regard the kaitomaw as a primordial sea monster a living curse left over from the Jedi-Sith wars. They avoid the deep waters where it dwells and tell cautionary tales of the "sleeping wrath" that rises when the Force is disturbed. Over centuries, a clandestine hunting tradition has emerged, primarily among off-worlders, who brave Ahch-To's oceans when a kaitomaw stirs.
- General Behavior: An apex predator of the abyssal zone, the kaitomaw patrols the deep trenches of Ahch-To. It feeds on whatever it encounters giant crustaceans, schools of razor-fish, and the occasional pod of native cetaceans. It rarely rises to the surface unless lured by a significant Force signature or a concentration of dark side energy. When awakened, it becomes relentless, tracking its target across the planet with unnerving precision. Years of whaling by opportunistic hunters have made it cautious of surface vessels, but not fearful. It learns. It remembers. It hunts.
Created thousands of years before the rise of the first order by the sith to attack worlds. The Kaito were massive in size and meant to become something to destroy water worlds and decimate planets that rely on fish for food or trade. They were small but would grow and as wars against the jedi raged on they could present a looming threat they would have to engage in their great hunts for sithspawn across the galaxy. Several dozen were brought to the first jedi temple. To attack and keep the jedi on the world so that they couldn't travel between the temples several sithspawn were released to impede and attack.
Then the wars came to an end and years of peace as it were came as the jedi left the world and the keepers at the time reset the island temple. So they went to sleep and from time to time over the centuries that followed would awaken when large concentrations of force users would come to the world. Being able to eat many of the fish in the ocean it served other purposes as well like over population of the fish as well as some of the larger natural predators of the planet. The Kaito have been researched by the jedi but not wiped out as several sleep around the planet and outside of actively hunting them down they can be in hibernation traces deep under the oceans.
When the jedi came back to the world though and established a larger presence on the planet the kaito awakened and the eternal empire under
