The original "Krownest Automatic 847" or "KA-47" saw widespread use in the outer rim territories long ago, but the "Krownest Automatic" weapons company was all but lost after the Sith-Imperial purge of Mandalore, with only the company's sole heir surviving. More recently, The Black Hand Rifle Company bought Krownest Automatic and all of it's designs during a series of business deals on Kestri.
Immediately, The company began working on a modernized version of the original KA-47, Intent on quickly arming rebel cells and possessing a reliable yet easily produced weapon to tempt new clients.
Thus the "Kestri Automatic 47, Modern" or "KA-47M" was born.
The new Kestri Automatic featured a new Precision chamber for increased damage, a Rylith power cell for reliable recharging, And came with an intuitive targeting scope. The safety-select lever on the right-hand side was clearly labeled in Aurabesh in small but plan words; "Safety" "Fire" "Full-auto", and a knob below the targeting scope is labeled "Zoom" and "None", switching from x1 to x4 magnification respectively. Finally, a targeting sensor was mounted and linked to the Night scope's HUD software, allowing it to highlight lifeforms and droids within line of sight, even in the dark.
The rifle was advertised as turning customers "From farmer to freedom fighter in under a minute" due to the intuitive design. This is partially true, as the user needn't learn to field strip their weapon if they take decent enough care of it and read the "Don't overheat, swap at 250 shots" warning label on the right-hand side of the blaster cartridge and know how to work a blaster's Gas refill valve, such as the one located at the bottom of the cartridge.
The KA-47M also came with a simple 1-page manual that could teach the basic features and how to field strip the weapon for repairs and cleaning, but it was expected that most users wouldn't even need it until they had already fought their first several battles.
