- Very Small Size
- Excellent Surgical Assistants
- Can operate within a living creature
- Little Helpers: Aria droids are primarily designed for the health and welfare of Dzara personnel. They are useful in and off the battlefield, repairing minor injuries and helping the host resist a variety of health conditions.
- Tiny Terrors: For less benign purposes, Aria droids can contaminate food and water supplies, sickening and weakening those who drink them.
- Bothersome Mites: Aria droids are, of course, very small and weak. A simple swat with a hand will suffice to kill one, if not many at once.
A miniscule Helix biodroid, the Aria is designed to aid in surgical efforts within tight spaces or under battlefield duress.
An individual Aria droid is exceptionally small, though not truly nanoscale, being approximately the size of a particularly-tiny insect or mite. It is disturbingly organic in appearance, with a gelatinous, translucent pink surface under which metallic components can be seen. An untrained eye might well mistake it for a living creature.
Despite this, these machines are (usually) benign and harmless. Under typical usage protocols, they are introduced to humanoid physiology in the form of an edible pill or a particularly-painful injection. Once so introduced, the Aria lives in symbiosis with an organic host, powering itself via the host's bioelectrical activity.
Should the host wish to remove their Aria droids, they need only send out a Dzara-approved removal code. Once done, the droids will painlessly extricate themselves from the host's body the next time they sleep.
Under normal circumstances, Aria droids give no sign of their presence. They travel around their host body's interior inspecting it for damage, foreign bodies, or other undesirable elements. When such an element is detected, the machine will quickly attempt its repair or removal.
Tiny bladed tentacles suture wounds closed from the inside, excise clumps of potentially-cancerous cells, clear vascular occlusions away with precise diligence, and filter toxins and diseases from the blood.
In the case of serious or life-threatening damage, Aria droids come together in great numbers to keep the host moving. They will attempt to repair blood vessels to quickly halt bleeding, inject painkillers (usually Heroism) to keep their host in relative comfort, and otherwise do all they can to prevent host death.
Should they encounter particularly bizarre or untreatable injuries, Aria droids will come together and pulse a gentle, visible blue color to alert the host that they should seek proper medical attention. Usually, this is done on the back of the host's left hand, though other visible locations may be chosen to get their host's attention.
In other cases, Aria droids are used as surgical assistants by medical personnel. Given their very small size, they can rapidly repair damage in areas inaccessible to handheld tools, help prevent bleeding, or otherwise serve to aid a surgeon.
More rarely, these machines are introduced into enemy food or water supplies by covert Dzara personnel. In these circumstances, an ingested cluster of Aria droids can wreak truly terrible damage, turning their tiny blades on vital organs and the central nervous system. Only repeated, full-body ion pulses or exhaustive surgery can remove these machines when they have entrenched themselves into a living creature... or securing the aforementioned Dzara removal codes.
