Private Journey to Mos Motesta

Tayl sat atop an old 74-Z speeder bike, which had been "acquired" while traveling with the strange mercenary they called Adeline Noctua Adeline Noctua . Their speeders kicked up dust in the open deserts outside Mos Eisley, headed towards a strange town that Jackal called "Mos Motesta".

However, As morbidly fascinating as this "Jackal" woman was, the young Vizsla was here for one reason only. Jackal knew something about The Dollmaker. The very person Tayl had been sent to find. She knew little of the woman herself, save that she was a friend of mother's and very skilled cyberneticist. The kind of person that would want to lay low on a planet like Tatooine. But she still didn't know enough to actually find her.

Jackal on the other hand? She knew people. Or at least of people. So for now, the strange girl was an asset.

<<How far is this place, anyway?>>

She asked over their newly shared commlinks, as the airflow around their speeders would make it difficult otherwise.

<<I don't want to be caught in the open if a sandstorm hits. don't have many supplies stowed either>>

Jackal followed closely behind on a "borrowed" speeder, her tendency to find herself contacted to criminals allowed the Sangir to know of some people.. Even then, it was hard to hide from a persistent
Jackal forever.

When Tayl had asked to be escorted to this backwater city, at first, Jackal wanted no part in it... That was until payment had been discussed of course.

"We are taking the southern route, going first to Anchorhead then to your target. At Anchorhead we can rest for a time... But I have to ask, why do you want to go to this place again? Eisley has a lot more, then again, my time here has pretty much been being paid good credits by the crime families over at Motesta."

She speeds ahead a bit, gesturing for Tayl to stick close to the rocky cliff walls.

"Stick close to the wall, makes it harder to get shot off your ride."

The two were almost halfway there, right at the bend she then gestures for them to halt quickly.

"Raiders frequent this upcoming little turn, no doubt either taxing or raiding goods going between Eisley and Anchorhead, how are you wanting to deal with it? I have seen people simply give them something and they allow you to pass easy enough without bloodshed, but I am getting a little hungry."

Up till this point, Jackal never had brought up her... Unique taste, but then again her comment was vague enough that one could figure it to mean a bunch of things.

The Sangir crosses their arms and gazes over at Tayl through her goggles, waiting for their word.

But I have to ask, why do you want to go to this place again
"Stick close to the wall, makes it harder to get shot off your ride."

<<You said something back there. Reminds me of a family friend that's supposed to be on-world somewhere. She's the reason I'm here>>
She called out over the comms, hugging the cliffside a little tighter almost as soon as Jackal suggested. One could even see as she looked up in realization, only to duck a little lower on her bike after.

Oh yeah. Good ole' Tatooine.

Another quick gesture and Tayl began to slow down, putting her foot down to drift the speeder to a sidelong stop just behind her guide.
"Trouble?"

"Raiders frequent this upcoming little turn, no doubt either taxing or raiding goods going between Eisley and Anchorhead, how are you wanting to deal with it? I have seen people simply give them something and they allow you to pass easy enough without bloodshed, but I am getting a little hungry."

"Mmm..." Tayl gave it just a moment of thought, pressing a gloved hand to her chin. "I don't speak Tusken... got a plasmatic-lighter if you can translate though?"

She throws Jackal a quick glance, reclining in on her bike a little. One could hear the distinct sound of a leather holster being pat a few times then "I got no qualms blasting my way out if you can't speak the language though. Or if you really are just that hungry" Tayl chuckled, seemingly misunderstanding the Sangir's choice in words.

Jackal chuckles lightly, despite the fact that she could speak Jawa-ese of all things... Tusken was not one of them. So the solution was obvious, but firstly there needed to be some setup.

"Nope, not one of the tongues I can speak.. I should really add it though, along with yours.. Or maybe just eat your tongue I don't know."

She cackles yet again, yet the joke did remind her of the red hunger that started to click in her mind... Need to address it, don't go more crazy! More crazy is bad right?

"You push on up ahead, I will catch up.. I need to do something."

And with those words, her guide would spin their bike right around and go back in the direction they came from. Knowing the general vibe Jackal gave, no doubt that Tayl had an inkling that perhaps the pale woman had just left her to be killed by the Tuskens that now came around the bend to investigate the noise.

The group of five all either lift their Gaderffii stick or cycler rifle at the mandalorian, they grunt and howl at the woman, not resorting to violence just yet. They recognize the armor she wears, giving her some unknown hand signs, waiting several moments for them to respond.

The main one had asked "where you going?" in their sign language, yet as stated before by Tayl.. She didn't know either.

Meanwhile, Jackal had clambered up to a higher position up on the cliff, creeping like a hunter not trying to spook its prey. Soon, Tayl could see the red hood and pale face slowly peek from the cliffside. The pale woman's goggles adjust silently as her own slugthrower took aim at the group... But this brought up a whole new question, how did she get up there that fast?

"Nope, not one of the tongues I can speak.. I should really add it though, along with yours.. Or maybe just eat your tongue I don't know."

"Ehh, think I'll keep it for now" She hums at Jackal, stepping off her bike and leaning against it "Maybe I'll teach you sometime if this all works out" Well, that was until Jackal decided to speed off without her...
"You push on up ahead, I will catch up.. I need to do something."

"You what...?!" Tayl spun around as Jackal left, clearly annoyed that her guide was leaving without explaining exactly why.

Before she could properly react however, five Tusken Raiders all came around the bend. At first there were rifles pointed and staffs raised, But Tayl kept her cool anyway. Her posture was straight, one hand lay relaxed on her belt and eyes scanned the group just as much as her optics.

So far, they seemed to prefer talking it out anyway. Shame that she didn't speak the language
"Uh... greetings?"

She tilts her head at the Tuskens, looking just as confused as they were...
"Me, Mandalorian. Me go to Anchorhead- off-worlder town, yes?"

At this point she only made things worse by attempting some "sign" of her own, holding out one hand flat and using the other to glide over it like a speeder... "I ride speeder! metal Bantha, go big fast!"

She could practically feel the Tuskens either laughing internally or their patience wearing thing, but it was right about then that Jackal crest the hill, earning little more than a sigh of relief and a quick glance from behind her visor, which thankfully wouldn't alert the Tuskens.

<<Quicker than I thought>>
A quick message was sent to Jackal's commlink, inaudible to the Tuskens as little more than muted static and a feint click from inside her helm.

She wasn't about to just murder these people on their own land though. Not if they didn't get aggressive first. So, She places one hand back on her belt, and produces that funny little lighter with the other. It was flipped open quickly, and a little blue plasmatic-flame erupted from it's surface, just big enough for them to see that this wasn't an ordinary lighter. Not that they typically had lighters anyway... might actually be pretty useful.

"I bring gift! make fire fast"
Hopefully their leader would approach and take the lighter. Then they'd either be on their marry way or he'd be a real easy target if they got a little too intense. After all, her targeting computers had already locked in each and every one of them, ready to fire up her lighting gun the second things went south...

:The swift survive, the slow fall behind.:

Jackal says through comms, watching as Tayl tried to speak with the Tuskens.

The group of raiders all give a glance at one another, confused as to what this woman was going on about. Seems negotiations would be off the table, yet, as the lighter was pulled out to show them they would all take a nice look at it. Seeming to agree that it could be worth the passage on to Anchorhead, but it would be then that several loud booms go off in a quick succession.

"One! Two! Three! Four! Five!"

The hunter's aim was pretty spot on, three of their heads being popped in a matter of mere moments while the other two were shot right in the shoulder. It was a spectacle in a way,
being able to see as each head that was shot would burst like a melon.

The casings tumble down the cliffside, soon landing in the bloodied sand right as Jackal pulls her head back... Unknown as to where she was heading off to now.

One raider remained alive, if only by inches. Their blood leaked swiftly across the unforgiving dunes, and with his shoulder being blasted, the tribal couldn't raise his own rifle. They grunt in pain, simply gazing blankly at the Mandalorian, soon their vision fades to black as their life had drained from the now blasted corpse.

"Well I would say that worked out well enough, you proved a good distraction!"

The hunter cackles as she jumps and climbed down the cliffside, using her whipcord to safely climb down.

"Loot up and then mount up, we are still only about halfway to Anchorhead? Unless you got some code of honor that prevents you from looting the dead or something."

Jackal greedily snatches all the rifles, strapping them to her bike... But then the red-hooded woman climbs atop a body, soon bearing her snake-like fangs in a flash before they puncture into the body. Jackal remains fully focused on feeding, paying no mind to the Mandalorian until she had letten go of the body. Crimson leaked down her chin and neck as she wipes her gloved hand across her red lips.

Seeing as she had some time, Jackal simply pops off one of their arms with ease using her strength, tossing the torn clothing adorning the arm aside right before she takes a nice bite out of the flesh.

"What?"

She asks while still having chunks in her mouth, no doubt that Tayl would be staring at them... To Jackal it was just eating.

"Yeahhh? You like it, huh?" Tayl nodded to the leader as he approached to inspect the lighter, clearly pleased that she had gotten their attention.

It was all soured when a series of loud shots tore through the air, several Tuskens dropping faster than most could see.
"Shit!"
The leader screeched at Tayl, immediately bringing up his staff in a swift uppercut. She was quick to draw almost as soon as he turned to face her again, seemingly hoping to disarm her and use her as a meatshield, but...

Tayl had learned to spot the footwork over the years in 1313.

She abruptly leaned back and swiped her hand-cannon from it's quickdraw holster, blasting the poor creature once in the leg faster than he or even Jackal could blink. But, her relative mercy had cost her more than she expected. A moment after she had fired, the staff connected with her hand-cannon and broke it half in one strong strike.

Tayl stumbled back, raising her crushgaunt to catch the staff as the Tusken barred down on her. They both looked just as surprised as the other when it stopped mid air in her mechanical grasp.

"Wait." She demanded, raising one finger to try and make him stop before Jackal could-

B A N G

Before Jackal could finish him off.

The Tusken collapsed, arm left gripping the staff for just a moment as the body fell separately... Tayl was fast on the draw but not fast enough to stop Jackal from butchering them all to the last man. The shooting didn't pause, not even for a second, until now.

She just stared for a time, glancing around at the carnage as she held the Tusken's Gaffi stick limply in hand. It wasn't until one groaned in pain that she hesitantly reached out, only to watch them take their last breath...

"Well I would say that worked out well enough, you proved a good distraction!"
"Loot up and then mount up, we are still only about halfway to Anchorhead? Unless you got some code of honor that prevents you from looting the dead or something."

"Mhm..." Tayl paid no heed to Jackal as she clambered down the cliffside next to her, still just staring at the Tusken whose own empty eyes, or what she assumed had eyes behind them anyway, stared back. When Jackal mentioned looting, She just turned to glance her way and then down to the Gaffi stick, clutching it in both hands.

Something felt... off. She didn't feel worthy of the weapon she held, not like all the others she had earned in her collection. Same went for the kill itself. It reminded her of something from her past, though she didn't quite know what.

Once Jackal was finished looting, Tayl had already strapped the gaffi stick to her speeder and begun moving the bodies. They were being neatly laid out in a row along the cliff-face and sprinkled with spare jetpack fuel when she caught Jackal doing... something.

"I was making progress, you know" She just turned her attention back to the dead, giving them far more care than she had ever a corpse in her life until now. Besides, it seemed best not to question the girl's eating habits. By the way she just popped the man's arm off like an action figure, she... wasn't exactly human. At least, not any variant of species of near-human she'd ever encountered before.
I know the metal you wear, solid stuff... But there is nothing stopping me from simply ripping off the plates from the glove to get at that gooey inside.

Seems she wasn't just bluffing that day...

"You didn't have to kill them on their own land... guess it's done though"

She found her own lip curling at the somewhat unsettling thought; Why did she even care? It wasn't like this was the first time, or even last time she had been and would be involved with killing of this nature. Hell, she wasn't even sure that she cared about Jackal eating them now, having seen her own kind juiced to make that horrible shit Apollyon The Betrayer Apollyon The Betrayer forged into her cursed armor.

Not that it wasn't... new to see a humanoid eating another humanoid like that.

"Tell me when you're finished so I can burn them" She shrugs it off, walking to her speeder bike to check the map and maybe her supplies. Just something else to do really, always preferring to keep her racing mind focused on a task at all times.

She raises a curious brow while still munching away at her prey, unsure what the woman was going on about.

"Is it right to reprimand a dog who was simply hunting because they needed to eat? Is it cruel or simply just nature?"

The strange woman was even able to bite through and crunch bone like it was a snack, Jackal always found it interesting how people would watch her, since to her it was just eating when she needed to eat just like everyone else.

"Ever considered that in the galaxy you have to take what you can get? Ignoring the right or wrong, doing what is best for yourself and perhaps something you care about. I grew up... Poor to say the least, and I still am. I live in a shack, and killing is how this hound lives."

Jackal taps at her chest, making a point that the right or wrong of something shouldn't always be the first thing on the mind, it should be survival.

"As much as I enjoy hunting, I also need to eat. Surely you can tell I am not human, I don't just need normal intake... My body burns through food quickly, my reflexes and strength has a price ya know?"

She normally wasn't one to try and hold some moral high ground, but it was true that she did need to eat, and that the world hardly ever pays any attention to the right or wrong, only to itself.

"Would you have prefered I ate someone else? What about some townie where we are going?"

Within no time at all, the whole arm was gone.. Bone and all.

"If you must burn them then go ahead, I just figured their own would find them and do what they want with them."

Once Tayl was done, Jackal revs her speeder before resuming the trip, blasting sand behind her.

... Poor to say the least, and I still am. I live in a shack, and killing is how this hound lives."

"Mhm... been there" She sighs, checking over herself to make sure there weren't any wounds she'd missed. It all happened so fast. Not as fast as Jackal had seemingly gone through an entire humanoid arm though, judging by the scene Tayl found when she finally looked up.

It was... grim, of course, but that wasn't what bothered her really. It was more so how it came to be. But thinking on it, she couldn't quite blame Jackal, could she? They had both done strange things to survive. Tayl still felt guilt-wracked for coming after Iris Arani Iris Arani , likening it to Jackal and these Tuskens today; Bounty Hunting was something she had only taken up out of desperation. She would have consigned that poor young woman to whatever the slicers of Denon had in store, if only for enough credits to continue her search for mother.

She was still thankful it didn't turn out that way in the end though...

"Would you have prefered I ate someone else? What about some townie where we are going?"

That one earned another look, Tayl's head tilting slowly in realization as she sat sidelong on her speeder bike. "No, I guess not"

"Listen, things have... changed, since I left Coruscant. picked up some new habits. Guess I need to drop 'em, remind myself what the galaxy's really like out here"
She said dismissively of her own thoughts, turning away to retrieve her pistol after checking her gear and finding an empty holster.

"Just uh... maybe we should cook it first next time?" Tayl forced a chuckle to lighten the mood, trying to just ignore her problems as always. It really wasn't Jackals fault that she needed to eat other sentients, so.

But then of course she found the pistol laying in the sand, and a new problem was placed at the forefront of her mind;
Vengeance was broken. "Oh... shit" She carefully picked it up in both hands, wiping away the sand. Not that it mattered of course, as the twin barrels had been broken into two separate pieces and too much of the complicated electronics inside seemed to have broken and wiring even began to melt. Must have been mid firing sequence when it was broken. Might even be some internal plasma scoring...

So with a sigh, she walked the weapon's carcass back to her bike and carefully placed it in a padded box that had previously been delegated to spare power crystals for the gun. She wouldn't be needing them anymore... probably needed to look into cheaper power sources anyway.

And then once Jackal was finished with dinner, she marched over and torcher each body with her plasma-thrower, taking only a moment to stand by and watch, hoping their souls would depart to a better place. "Nu kyr'adyc, shi taab'echaaj'la."

She bowed her head in respect before returning to follow Jackal.

"Nah I don't need to cook anything, I just eat things raw. Why bother spending the time when I can just eat it? You would be amazed what all I can eat, but that is something for another day."

She turns her head to see what Tayl was upset about, her eyes catching a view of the broken pistol that now had been shattered within the sands.

"Guns break, you need me to fix it up or just make you a new one? I will need... Payment of course, and time. I normally build things for function over form, but considering the amount of looks my pistol gets.. I will require time and the proper materials if you want it to look nice."

Jackal shrugs before plopping herself on the speeder, jetting off as mentioned before.

As the two would kick up the sands around them, the Sangir seemed to enjoy herself. Taking every opportunity to
jump over dunes and doing little tricks in the air, a thrill seeker at heart it would seem.

"Come on now Mando! Pick up the speed! Feel the rush of the wind against you and the rapid pumping of the heart!"

Now fully around the bend, Jackal drifts along the side of it, seeming to know the route like the back of her hand as she narrowly avoided sharp metal chunks that stuck out of the sands below. Seemed Tayl would have no choice but to pick up their own speed if they ever wanted to catch up with the eccentric woman, despite the chance of a brutal death by going such speeds... It all seemed to be a game to Jackal.

Tayl followed behind in a straight line and calculated pace at first, busy thinking about Jackal's strange eating habits. Not even that she was eating people, but at this point she almost more concerned that they weren't even being cooked. That had to affect the taste, right? Not that Tayl was much of a cook herself, but it had be better than raw meat at least.

By the time she had arrived to the conclusion that she should offer to Jackal sometime however, She had changed the topic to her broken hand-cannon.

"Guns break, you need me to fix it up or just make you a new one? I will need... Payment of course, and time. I normally build things for function over form, but considering the amount of looks my pistol gets.. I will require time and the proper materials if you want it to look nice."

She had glanced at that pistol of Jackal's a time or two during the trip already... Admittedly, Tayl wasn't entirely sure that it wouldn't just explode in the poor girl's hand one of these days.

<<I'll keep that in mind, thanks>> She said over the commlink, watching her guide jump the first dune. <<It was a gift from my mother. one of very few>>

Then more dunes came and went, With the Sangir jumping each and every one of them.

Even despite the grim scene only minutes before, Tayl found herself tilting her head in bemused curiosity. Something about that carefree attitude reminded the young Twi'lek of her even younger self, and seemed to speak to her in some kind of way. Seeing the girl smile like that just before vanishing behind another dune for only a moment, it made her snicker into the commlink.

"Come on now Mando! Pick up the speed! Feel the rush of the wind against you and the rapid pumping of the heart!"

<<Alright, alright!>> She shook her head shortly before clamping down on the accelerator.

Her bike made an audible whooping sound as it carried her over the next dune, gaining some air along the way. Nothing impressive at first, but she was starting to catch up Jackal.

Seeing Jackal disappear around the bend, Tayl clicked her tongue with a nod and put as much speed as she could into the old speeder in order to fully catch up. Only, she wasn't prepared for the metal shards she'd encounter on the other side. Her speeder barely fit between two of them as she shot through, quickly turning and releasing the throttle in an attempt to slow down but it was already too late.

"
Shit...!" Her bike nearly rolled as it scraped along the edge of another metal shard, Tayl having to throw all her weight to the side in an attempt at abruptly dodging the damn thing. If she hadn't more or less clung to the opposite side, using only her foot to keep herself from falling, the damned thing might have taken her leg off...

Luckily, she was able to force herself up and then wrestle control over the bike once it had cleared the metal debris there. It wouldn't be long after that she had adjusted course and Jackal could at least catch sight of the Mandalorian back there.

"A gift eh? Mm I can't say I ever got anything like that, suppose I understand why you seemed so upset then."

The Sangir had been waiting a distance ahead, arms crossed as she waited for the Twi'lek. Ahead of the two they could see Anchorhead off in the distance, Jackal was looking forward to taking a pitstop if even but for a moment... The sunlight was rather harsh on Jackal's skin, she adjusts her hood to try and block as much as she can, growling a bit under her breath.

"Ahead of us is Anchorhead, think we can have a stop to rest? I normally am nocturnal... This heat and brightness is pissing me off, humid I can deal with... But this planet is just pure chit, I would love to just nap in a cave or something right now."

A nice cool and dark cave... Now that sounded like a blessing right now indeed, much less if she could just sit at home all day, but those credits aren't gonna earn themself now are they?

"Can't say I stop in Anchorhead much myself, most of my time here is actually spent in Mos Motesta, the cave systems around there are nice. There is even a hot spring to relax at, or you can go to the bathhouse above it. Hmm, I already have a bit of a name there thanks to my services, they pay and heads roll... Just business is all."

She cackles before sighing a bit, squinting her eyes at the town in the distance then turning back to face Tayl.

"So, how long have you been around here? And why do you want to go to this city so bad again?"

Tayl took several deep and quick breaths and she pulled up beside Jackal, perfectly content to lean back a little, drop her shoulders, and take a quick breather.
"Ahead of us is Anchorhead, think we can have a stop to rest? I normally am nocturnal.

"Chit, really...?" She said, still catching her breath between speaking a word or two.
"Yeah, okay. Don't want you shriveling up on me" In reality, she just wanted to take a break and check her speeder for damage.

If anything, that bathhouse was sounding real nice right about now.

She spent a moment watching her peculiar guide stare ahead at the town, unable to help but wonder; What would they find there?
If they were as rough as the folks in Mos Eisley, then she could see them getting into at least one gunfight while they were there. Quick as it may be. But with how far removed Anchorhead was from the big spaceports, she suspected that folks out this way might be a little hospitable. Or at least, peacefully indifferent.

"So, how long have you been around here? And why do you want to go to this city so bad again?

"Heh" Tayl would tilt her head to the side a little, causing one of her Lekku to fall limp from over her shoulder "Would you believe me if I said I was a tourist?" She hummed.

After a moment spent dusting her gloves off, She leaned forward on the bike to lay her arms across the steering handles, propping herself up lazily as she pointed two fingers at the town beyond.

"I've seen every corner of every spaceport between here and Kestri. I've slung my guns with bounty hunters and Jedi alike. But you know, the damndest thing? Never been far outside Mos Eisley before"
Her head tilted back towards Jackal again, her stray arm returning to lay across the other, propping up her chin.

"I used to have something of a reputation back there, ya know? Mmm! Fifteen years old, free reign. Just me, my blaster, and whoever decided to tag along for the day" She chuckled, feeling quite nostalgic in that moment. Even if said blaster was now broken.

Not to mention, It wasn't actually that long ago. Good ole' accelerated aging. Sadly even if it was only a few years back, she wasn't entirely sure that Jackal would have even heard of her. Not unless she had heard the tale from one of the local gangs there.

"Ten men. Ten men" She briefly held up all her fingers "Piled up outside the cantina, same place we met. Intent on murdering the bounty hunter I'd been chatting with between hunts..."

"Asked 'em if they were looking for her" Her arms crossed then, while her voice started to dark a slightly darker undertone, as if to add suspense to her story.

"They asked me who wanted to know. So told them... '
A little reaper that calls herself violet'... Big guy nearly pissed himself!"
She actually giggled with shear glee, her leather glove creaking as her grip on the bike tightened to get ahold of herself.

"Anyway he reached for his pistol. Hadn't even cleared leather when I pulled my hand-cannon, fired from the hip"

"Fifteen seconds, Jackal. Fifteen seconds!"
One could practically envision the smug grin behind her visor as she held up five fingers, and then five fingers again. "10 men lay dead in the sand, right where they stood"

"Well, most, anyway"
She shrugged "A couple got lucky at first. Would have been 10 seconds flat, but their scattered movements saw a few accidental meat shields... So it ended up being 15 all together by the time I shot the last two"

"FFFuck I miss those days...!" She sighed happily

"But... had to leave for a... a personal hunt. Left the life to reconnect with my family in the process. Now mother's trying to rediscover old contacts and allies an' chit. Two of 'em are here..."

She gives Jackal another look, tilting her helmed head forward in that way which always seemed to make the visor look thinner. More angular. More serious.

"Something back there reminded me of one. An Arisian woman, folks call her "The Dollmaker", if I'm not mistaken. Supposed to be some kind of Cyberneticist, with a habit of using materials that look almost like porcelain"

Finally, she kicks her bike into gear, slowly drifting into town while she spoke with Jackal. It wouldn't be long before she had spotted what looked to be an Inn of sorts, jutting her chin towards the place shortly before pulling up just outside. And... locking her speeder, of course.

"If she's in Mos Motesta, I gotta find her. Call it a familial mission"

"Yeah, okay. Don't want you shriveling up on me"

"Very funny.. But yes, I am supposed to be sleeping right now. I much prefer to go find little dark places to rest in, keeping the sun away from my eyes. Due to my eyes being built for the night and just how keen they are.. Bright lights and me don't get along, I really should tint my goggles..."

At times it would be hard to tell thanks to how energetic the Sangir normally was, but it was easy to see the worn look in her inhuman eyes, and how they would squint to try and block out the light purely by instinct alone. Jackal yawns, exposing her maw as she does so.
"Would you believe me if I said I was a tourist?"

"And would you believe me if I said I thought you were an idiot then? There isn't too much outside of Eisley, or maybe I just hate sand... Thinking on it I really hate sand, almost impossible to get the chit out of my boots."

With her small rant out of the way, Jackal turns to Tayl as they started to tell a story.

"A reputation you say? I like to think I am rather quick on the draw myself, but once I do get my gun out.. Well you saw what happened to those raiders. Same ole thing, precision shots are just like killing to me... Second nature, but I wasn't always strong nor did I have any amount of reputation as someone you don't mess with. But even the smallest mouse can climb out of a pit now can't they? Do you think luck exists? I do.. It was pure luck that got me where I am today, but that is a story for another day. Now, as for yours. Maybe along with learning your language you could teach me how to quick draw?

She chuckles a bit before a lightbulb surged to life in her sleepy mind.

"I do suppose I have a story I can share, let me tell you how I learned Jawaese."

Jackal turns her bike back on again as Tayl did, telling the story over comms as the two speeded towards Anchorhead.

"See, while I may have the ambition to be the best hunter, I also do mercenary work, scrapping, and perhapssss smuggling. I had been on Denon for maybe a week? There is always plenty of underground work to be had, and plenty of tech scraps to go around. I am not one to be picky, even if the scraps are in a trash bin I will still check it out. It just so happened that as I was walking by a trash bin that I heard something inside it, I open it to see a Jawa that was also a scrapper. We get to talking, and I gain his trust thanks to giving him some nice parts I found. Using his little translator machine he tells me about a whole ion engine that was still in almost perfect shape, turns out he was scouting around a warehouse and needed my help due to not having a gun. So we agree to split the loot, I also scout the place and see two guards that patrolled around it. Once the first came by I launched by cord around his neck, ending them with a simple hard tug. The body is quickly hid behind the bin and I rush to hide behind a pillar at the front of the place, the next comes along, ended swiftly as I bit into their neck. There were... twelve yes, two outside and the rest inside. After hacking into the cams I busted through the front door, taking one man as a shield while I blasted the others. By the end I only ended up getting a finger blown off... The Jawa had to pay me more and I took a good number of factory new weapon and armor parts from there, along with learning a new tongue."

Despite the story, Jackal seemed to still have all their fingers... Was she simply telling a lie?

As Jackal finishes her little tale, they both arrive in Anchorhead.

"Ahh it makes more sense now, you are looking for a contact then. Well, I think the name rings a bell. But all I can say is that I know that they have to be in Motesta, no idea where though. I am only ever around when the barons competing with one another bid their credits to hire me for dirty work. I think I am one of their favourites since I get the job done quick... Chances are I can bump my prices some and get away with it."

The Sangir clasps her greedy mits together, snickering a bit.

"Oh, hey we stopping here? I would love to find a dark corner to hang from, I should be ready to go as the suns set? Dusk, right before night falls. But I might need more rest... Work has had me beat."

She yawns again while getting off her bike, locking it before stretching.

"Swear these seats always make your ass hurt.."

"Even with all that padding?" She teased with a sly tilt of her head.

"Sounds like you've a knack for more then shooting though. I'm fond of the whipcord too. Think I used it for my second kill as a kid"

Then, sliding off the bike, she approached the Inn. Her star-spurs would make a slight ✱jingle✱ with each step, which caught a few looks as she stepped through the automatic doors and came to a brief stop. A quick glance around, visible only by the most subtle reflections moving across her visor, Told her that it was a decent enough establishment. She hadn't chosen some cantina, but a place of rest. The fact that it had a very tiny little bar too was just a bonus.

"Looks safe enough to me" She said over the shoulder before approaching the front desk.
A few credits are placed on the table, earning a raised brow from the old man checking her in.

"One room. Two beds, please"

"I'm... sorry, ma'am. These are Mandalorian credits" He said nervously, prompting another curious tilt of Tayl's head, and one hand placed on her hip.

"This is Enclave space, isn't it...?"

"We can only spend them abroad... We don't get many off-worlders through these parts. Not like Mos Eisley"

Tayl remained silent for a time, throwing a glance at Jackal and then the floor while she mulled it over. Seemed to her that the old man had a point, even if it was inconvenient.

Finally, she opens a small leather pouch on her belt, pulling out one of several golden coins between her clawed fingers.

"I can do Wupiupi"

One was handed over to the old man, who carefully studied it with a smile.
"Fascinating...! I haven't seen these since the Hutts left. But- but the gold is still spendable even under Mandalorian rule"

Then they both exchange a pleased nod and Tayl stacks the remaining coins on the desk.
Once their payment had been properly counted and stashed away in a small safe, The old man took his cane and began escorting the two women towards their room. Slowly. Legs and hands a little shaky with each move.

"Room thirteen, down yonder. It has a nice view of the road outside and a balcony, but thick curtains if the street lights bother you at night. Even has a bath if- if you'd like to wash the sand away" He nods to himself as they near the door, slowly fumbling through his pockets until he had produced the key.

"I know how much you youngins hate sand, hahhah!"

"And here's your key, try not to lose it... And if you ladies need anything at all, just come down stairs and holler. The wife, she makes a hardy breakfast every morning. It's included in your- your tab, you see"
Then he just smiled at what he could only assumed to be some counter-culture youngsters, and slowly made his way back down towards his desk.
