PRODUCTION INFORMATION

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS

[*]Weight: Very Heavy
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Long-Handle Design: The extended length of both the hilt and blade afford the wielder incredible reach, and allows the user to easily swing around the body, using joints of the body as fulcrums upon which the lightsaber could be levered.
  • Pommel Spike: The end of the lightsaber's pommel was fashioned in the shape of a sharp spike, which allows the wielder to use as a cruel piercing weapon against enemies in close combat. Because the entire hilt is fashioned out of Beskar, this spike can puncture through all but the heaviest of armor plating.
  • VT-Disruptor Lense: An addition only added to his past lightsabers, Carnifex has reintroduced the VT-Disruptor Lens to his current lightsaber as well. This allows his blade to cut through any organic matter with a power gland, which is an organ exclusively used by Yuuzhan Vong organics.
  • Bifurcating Cyclical-Ignition Pulse: The bifurcating cyclical-ignition pulse utilized a dual-crystal process within the hilt that allowed his blade to continuously work while submerged.
  • Obsidian Crystal: Carved from an immense Dark Side shrine found on Korriban, the crystal inside the Emperor's lightsaber is a jagged shard of obsidian infused with the Dark Side of the Force. Though glossy black in appearance, when placed inside the lightsaber it produces a scarlet blade like traditional red kyber and synthetic crystals.
STRENGTHS
  • Reach: With a hilt three feet long and a plasma blade six feet long, the Emperor's lightsaber affords him incredible reach in combat. The weapon's length allows him to leverage the blade against the fulcrum joints of his body, greatly increasing the momentum and strength behind each swing.
  • Beskar Hilt: With a hilt made of beskar, the Emperor's lightsaber is impervious to traditional lightsaber strikes and kinetic and energy attacks. The spike mounted on the pommel of the hilt can also be used as a piercing weapon, easily punching through all but the most resilient of armor plating.
  • Modifications: Inside the weapon are two distinct modifications, a VT-Disruptor lense and a bifurcating cyclical-ignition pulse; the former allows him to cut through Yuuzhan Vong biotechnology and the latter keeps his lightsaber working even when completely submerged underwater.
WEAKNESSES
  • Awkward Inner Ring Defense: Because the lightsaber was designed for offensive maneuvers and keeping enemies at range, it fared poorly when pressed to defend the inner ring of the traditional three ring defensive technique. The inner defense had only a single guard position, with the hilt covering the navel. Typically, attacks would be deflected by angling the blades tip and shunting them aside with the lower third of the blade, facilitating a swift counter towards the opponents chest or abdomen. Maneuvering such a large and heavy blade to perform these maneuvers was considered awkward in such close conditions.
  • Weight: Being made almost entirely out of Beskar, the hilt of the lightsaber was very heavy in comparison with other blades its size. For anyone else to wield this weapon would require tremendous strength, but for the Emperor of the Sith it wasn't much heavier to him than for an average man to wield a large broadsword.
DESCRIPTION

Over twenty years ago Kaine Zambrano was inducted into the Sith Order as an acolyte. Once he had completed his preliminary training and acquired himself a master in the form of Daxton Bane, he constructed his own lightsaber. That lightsaber possessed a long handle and an even longer blade, one that could accentuate his abnormal height and reach. However, he lost his lightsaber during the Sacking of Concord Dawn, his weapon tumbling from his grip during a heated close-quarters engagement with a Mandalorian Verz Horak. Since then he had never again wielded a lightsaber of similar make to his original, instead focusing on curved and saberstaff designs.

But after many lightsabers passing through his possession, Kaine looked back to his early history and decided to again design and build a long-handled lightsaber to serve as his latest weapon. The hilt was to be built out of Mandalorian Iron, a strong substance that was simultaneously heavy and impervious to the blade of a lightsaber. The standard hilt length of thirty centimeters was extended to ninety-one point forty-four centimeters, more than tripling the total length. The plasma blade itself was set to a staggering length of one-hundred-and-eighty-two point eighty-eight centimeters, much larger than the standard one-hundred-and-forty-five centimeter length of typical lightsabers.

At the weapon's pommel was a large beskar-coated spike, jutting out smoothly and seamlessly from the hilt itself. Though coated with Mandalorian iron, the inside of the spike was composed purely of solid tunqstoid, an incredibly heavy substance typically used in the constructed of ultra-heavy blast doors on military bases. This added weight at the end of the weapon added momentum to each swing, and could be used to swing the spiked pommel directly into another being with concussive force. Not only that, but the added weight allowed the spike to be thrust downwards with greater force; the beskar slicing easily through most materials.

The most interesting aspect of the Emperor's newest weapon was the kyber crystal that powered its blade. For many days the Emperor traversed the barren wastes and unearthed tombs of Korriban, homeworld of the ancient Sith. He was guided through such bleakness by the Dark Side of the Force, which led him to a shrine located deep within igneous caverns underneath a long dead volcano. The shrine itself was fashioned purely out of hardened obsidian, volcanic glass, and thoroughly infused with the Dark Side of the Force. Before he devoured the energies of the shrine, the Emperor carved a shard from the shrine's edifice and into this shard he poured his cruelty, his malice, and his will to dominate all life.

Once he had placed this crystal into his newly forged weapon, the blade that ignited was as scarlet as any other blade wielded by the Sith; but shimmering with a hidden darkness known only to the Emperor. This was to be his true instrument against the Jedi, the weapon with which he would eradicate their entire order.

He blessed it with the name Jidai ai Maras, the Jedi's Bane.
