LFG Jedi test subjects: Please read the disclaimer

Aaaine

Everything, anything, for science.
Humorous title, but one that rings very true!

I'm looking for 3 jedi writers who are willing to put their characters through a bit of turmoil in the name of science! The goal of the thread will be to bring your three characters to the LCFO headquarters on Vassek. There, you'll be taken care of with the first "day" consisting of physical measurements and a quick psychological exam. You'll be taken care of, and you'll be safe.

The test will involve a non-lethal amount of Fear Virus being injected into your character. The goal of the experiment will be for your character to either push through the virus and battle it off, or, if it is believed the test is going poorly, your character will immediately be injected with the vaccine.

IC, your character will receive a cool 10,000UC each, as well as a better understanding of their own mind and the horrors that lie within.

OCC, I feel like this is a really cool opportunity to write a man vs. self story with your characters in a thread where the ending will be they can end up safe.

The LCFO, and myself, get a better understanding of the virus as well as a hands on look at the effects of the virus on a force user, which can lead to more effective vaccines against viruses such as this one in the future.

I am happy to plan this out or answer any questions that y'all might have. I'm hoping for a lot of interest in this thread, so if you aren't chosen for this round I plan on doing more of these in the future!

Feel free to respond here or in dms if you're interested :)

Fal has been captured and is currently in Jedi prison/rehab facility. She used to be in the order. We could work something out of how she was forced to participate in the experiment while in Jedi custody if it’s something your keen.

Do Dark Jedi work?

Brutalis - As long as you’re willing to play nice, and understand this is for science and not to take out a jedi, of course. If that isn’t super in line than your character however we can certainly work something out 1 on 1.

Aaaine Aaaine - I could use the credits.

Balun Dashiell Balun Dashiell Would love to see you there, I’ll make you down. :)

Lady Falentra Lady Falentra I absolutely adore this idea. Now, I don’t know if that storyline would fit this thread, since its more of a…voluntary basis. But I would love to put together a thread with you playing with that storyline. Would you mind if I reach out?

The NJO wouldn't force someone into a medical experiment lol. That seems an unreasonable angle to force on others

Part of my thinking, tbh. It seemed a bit out of character.

Now volunteering under strict supervision to secure an earlier release? I could see that falling more in line with the NJO.

Yeah it would have to be voluntary, or someone untied to the Jedi would have to be involved. It makes no sense for a Jedi to be forcing it on someone else xD

Aye, aye. And forcing it is not the public image LCFO wants to be putting out currently.

They’re a research group, seen publicly right now, with concerns about the overreach of power by forcers, but want to better understand the force itself through scientific means.

eh. experimentation could be part of her 'treatment' to get rid of the darkside.
That's not how Jedi would do that lol. Redemption is a pretty long process and it's not just a medical type cure for someone to no longer be considered fallen to the Dark Side. A lot of it is about mindset, philosophy and development of character. It wouldn't make any sense for the NJO to subject someone who is troubled and in the process of healing to some medical test without consent.

I feel like there’s different types of therapy. There are psychologists - which is like talk and behavioural therapy and then there are psychiatric care - which use a more scientific approach plus meds and all.

Yeah but we're discussing consent, and this medical experiment has nothing to do with helping people who have fallen to the dark side either lmao. It has zero added value, and you're wanting to claim that our characters are forcing it on you without discussing it with any of us. But to not flood the LFG more, hit me up on discord if you wanna chat more about how my faction would actually help your character :)

The Jedi Order, known for its ethical standards and adherence to the light side of the Force, rejects any form of coercion or unethical experimentation. Forcing a Sith child into dubious experiments contradicts their core values.

The Jedi Code emphasizes respect for life and individual autonomy, making forced experiments a violation of their principles. Dedicated to the light side, the Jedi oppose manipulation and exploitation, which are hallmarks of the dark side. As guardians of peace and healers, they focus on rehabilitating, not exploiting, those in need.

Past mistakes have taught the Jedi that crossing ethical boundaries leads to negative consequences, so maintaining their moral high ground is crucial. Public trust is essential for the Jedi to fulfill their role, and unethical actions would damage their reputation and authority. They believe in redemption and aim to guide Sith children back to the light with compassion.

Forcing a Sith child into experiments could perpetuate a cycle of violence, but the Jedi promote forgiveness and understanding to foster long-term peace. Upholding their legacy requires unwavering commitment to their values, and engaging in unethical practices would betray the foundation of the Jedi Order.

In the year 900 ABY, the Star Wars universe has evolved significantly, but traditional antagonists and new threats still persist. Remnants of the Sith, though diminished, still exist, seeking to rebuild their power and continue their malevolent practices. Neo-Imperial factions, successors to the Galactic Empire, strive to revive authoritarian rule, using fear and oppression to maintain control.

Powerful crime organizations like the Hutt Cartel, Black Sun, and newer factions engage in smuggling, slavery, and other illicit activities. Dark side cults conduct fanatical and often cruel practices to gain power and influence, while renegade Force users exploit their abilities for personal gain. Mega-corporations with vast resources exploit planets and populations for profit, often employing ruthless mercenaries.

Space pirates raid and plunder, capturing and tormenting those who cross their path. The Eternal Empire, known for their authoritarian rule and dark side influences, could have remnants or successors in this era. Additionally, unknown alien species or intergalactic invaders present new challenges and employ exploitative or tormenting tactics as part of their conquest.

No serious player with a main Jedi character would willingly portray the Order negatively in such a manner. It doesn't make sense for the narrative and contradicts the established principles and values of the Jedi.

TLDR: Jedi are good guys, Sith are objectively Bad guys

I've already explained this concept on Discord, but it's worth reiterating:

Continuously writing narratives that cast the New Jedi Order (NJO) or Jedi in a bad light can harm the larger group's image. This portrayal creates an impression / image that the players of Jedi characters do not want to propagate or participate in. Traditionally, Jedi are the good guys in Star Wars, while Sith and the Empire are the villains. These roles are fundamental to the setting. Writing Sith as anti-heroes doesn't cause as much harm because it aligns with their complex nature.

Depicting Jedi as villains does significant damage to the narrative. It's incredibly frustrating for new Jedi characters when the Jedi are portrayed as experimenting on children or torturing prisoners. This harms the stories of those who want to write about good Jedi. The negative impact is much greater than portraying Sith as anti-heroes.

Jedi players aiming to depict their characters as good are not willing to support narratives that show Jedi in a negative light. Those interested in darker paths or becoming dark Jedi might, but for those striving to be good Jedi, such portrayals are counterproductive. It's insulting to have someone play out-of-character actions for the Jedi and insinuate that it's normal behavior for them.

If you want to craft a compelling narrative where your character meets and interacts with Jedi, I'm more than happy to show that they are good guys who strive to do good things and help your character, in character.

None of my Jedi characters would support a narrative involving dubious medical practices. They would vehemently oppose anyone attempting something so fundamentally wrong and contrary to the Jedi's core values and principles. My Jedi characters would actively work to stop such actions and protect your character from any unethical treatment.
