The Republic owned Ruusan on and off for a while now. And that includes before the last Event which was 844 ABY, so 841 ABY fits timeline broadly.
And when I joined the boards, there was an Academy/Temple there (as well as Tython) - which is another option now it springs to mind. Of course Tython is now OS controlled but that was post Event.

[member="Corvus Raaf"] Tython is definitely a good choice, although again, a little out of the way for non-Jedi students. If they were brought in as Initiates/Padawans, then absolutely, that'd be spot on.
