STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES:

STR1: Form VI. While Zam was quick to grasp the fundamentals of Form I as a youngling at the Jedi Temple on Kashyyk, her lightsaber instructors had noted her struggle studying Forms II-V. It was only upon reaching Form VI, or the Way of the Rancor, that Zam finally found material she could work with, and has redoubled her efforts on refining her practice of this practical and generalized lightsaber form.

STR2: Scholar. Zam's choice to ultimately take up the path of the Jedi Consular was no surprise to her instructors and master at the time. From early adolescence she'd already taken an interest in the old texts of the order. In time she'd develop an interest in the fields of medicine, Jedi archaeology/history, and the study of ancient Jedi manuscripts and scripture. She is a mediocre combatant, and truly shines away from the battlefield.

WKN1: Non-Combatant. Due to her focus on research and study, Zam has had less time to focus on perfecting her lightsaber technique. While a competent (defensive) duelist, she would be very hard-pressed to best a more adept melee specialist in combat.

WKN2: Hapan Vision. Zam's Hapan ancestry has compromised her ability to see in the dark. She struggles even in dim lighting, and almost always requires the use of assistive goggles or headgear when venturing into places where light does not shine.

BIOGRAPHY:

Of the little known of Zam Ulgo, what is certain is that she hails from Taris - having been born to a Cathar mechanic who serviced the swoop bikes of the Lower City gangs, and a Hapan mother who was cast out from the Upper Cities for falling in love with an 'alien'. Initiated into the vocation of a mechanic from a very early age, her first 'books' were reference manuals and maintenance checklists for swoop bikes and droids. It was a hard but quiet life, and the family loved each other through the hardships of Taris' economic and racial inequalities.

Until one day, an accident on one of the swoop bikes was blamed on her father, and Zam was taken in by the gang as petty vengeance for the death of one of its best bikers, and was subsequently auctioned off to a Hutt who'd resided in a local cantina. The child would work as a servant and runner for the Hutt until around age 8, when she caught the attention of a Jedi Knight who'd walked in while in the middle of an investigation, and picked up on her Force Sensitivity. She was ultimately taken away in the midst of a bar fight that ensued between drunken Rodians and spacer scum, shipped off to Kashyyk to the Jedi Temple there for formal training.

As a youngling at the temple, her love of reading and scholasticism was noted by her instructors - the child poured through old texts of the order and asked questions that made even her seniors raise eyebrows. She'd also develop a love of agricultural science, medicine and biology as she approached adolescence - through exposure to farming communities and working with the Wookies and Ewoks who called Kashyyk home. When she'd completed her initial training, the decision to take up the Path of the Jedi Consular was easy, and her Padawan years would be recorded by the temple as a 'magnificent account of dedication to learning and self-improvement.' Zam was always the more thoughtful Jedi, and Jedi masters noted of her that 'even the littlest of victories brought her joy.'

Her master however would ultimately be killed by a Bounty Hunter sent from Taris by the Hutt that had once owned her - infuriated once he'd realized what he'd lost in his servant girl. Her master was killed trying to protect her, but she successfully managed to end the fight with a Niman 'Pull-Slash' technique just when it seemed like she had but seconds to live. She'd make her way back to the temple with the body of her fallen master, and soon set out again after observing the proper funeral rites and period of mourning.

Today, she wanders the local and neighboring systems in search of opportunities to help, but also in search of learning, hopefully under a new master who can complete her training.
