He detests things that are of a rude nature such as cursing, unnecessary brawling, and arguing. He does not enjoy loud noises or lights and has a particular hatred for war and battle.
COMBAT INFORMATION
  • Weapon of Choice:
  • Combat Function: Although he extremely prefers to avoid combat, Jean is no stranger to the art of battle. He is a master when it comes to hand to hand combat and close quarters fighting. Weaknesses:
  • Technologically Behind: Unless it is a piece of weaponry, Jean is not proficient with modern technology, due to Illyria's technological dark age. He can proficiently use anything simple once he is taught, however some skills such as piloting a starship or advanced vehicle are all but lost to him.
  • Unrealistic Expectations: Because Jean is a natural prodigy at most things he has done, he expects all others to adapt to new situations and commands as well as he does. Because of this he has a nickname in the Palace, The Taskmaster. His expectations are nearly impossible to meet, which often causes him to grow angered at those working under him.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
From the time he was a young boy until late in his pre-teens, Jean always wanted to become a famous chef. Of course, due to the hundreds year war on Illyria, such ventures had been placed well below the current standard. The boys he grew up with dreamed of being Knighted and fighting valiently for their House while Jean merely wished to delve into the subtle intricacies of taste and flavor. A middling Noble House that found it's home in Azurine City, House de'Luo was once known for producing the planet's finest culinary artists. However that was long before the war. Jean's father was not a cook. Instead he served as the senior spymaster for House Pascal, who reigned over House de'Luo as their overlord for several centuries.

When he reached an appropriate age, Jean was tasked with joining House Pascal's elite force of assassins. They trained him vigorously, from the age of twelve until well in his twenties. He was meant to be one of many, secret weapons to be set into the world and devastate those who would not bend the knee to the ambition filled House. In the end, what followed was

something that shattered Jean's spirit and broke his heart. Thirty years of murder, poison, and killing. It took the smile from the bright-haired boy and replaced it with a terrible demeanor. He was silent, brooding, and found solace only in the thought of the war's end. An end that was seeming to never arrive. While in service to House Pascal, the de'Luo family prospered from Jean's use. They were well funded and it allowed them to survive the harsh war, relatively in tact. At the expense of Jean's peace of mind.

At a lull in the war, an enigmatic figure appeared on Illyria. With the backing of a droid army he declared the war
over. With one decree, one initial command, years of infighting amongst the Illyrian nobles had come to a screeching halt. In his subjugation, House Pascal attempted to rally their forces against him and were promptly destroyed for the trespass. Taken aback by this display, Jean felt a twinge of anger for his liege lord. In fact, his own family damned the Illyrian King in soft whispers behind locked doors. Jean celebrated his arrival. At a time when the planet could have torn itself apart, this man presented something they had never known. Peace.

The King rose to prominence and one day at Court Jean made a single outburst. With eyes filled with tears, he begged that he be removed from the assassination Corp that had once fallen under House Pascal. A broken man, pleaded to be put whole once again. This outburst was met with harsh scowls from all in the Court, all but one.

The King agreed to his request. He had sparked the man's interest and because of this he took House de'Luo as the Keepers of the Palace. For a more illustrious House this could have been a slap in the face, but for House de'Luo it was a great honor, one that silenced the hatred from Jean's family and replaced it with proud gratitude.

In the years to come Jean would become something like a friend to the King. He served him well and for his faithful service the King swore never to return him to battle unless absolutely necessary. With the blood of the war washed away, Jean's smile returned along with his witty humor and enjoyable laughter. He sought out to become a chef in his free time and in only a few years, was coined as a very capable master-chef. Since the conclusion of the war, Jean had directed House de'Luo in the re-opening of several prized restaurants, many of which have been in the family for generations.
