Jason's Big Trip

Josh smiled as he laced his arm through hers when offered, content to just enjoy the show with Ra and Jason. Once it was over, Josh would direct them toward the ship. Once they were aboard the Final Dragon, Josh would quickly finish his own ice cream which he had been neglecting. As much as he didn't tend to admit it, he had a bit of a sweet spot for ice cream too, the same as Jason. But seeing Jason happy had taken his mind off even that.

Once he, Ra and Jason had finished their fooding, Josh would take a minute to clean his face with a cloth as the ship's ramp would close behind them. "I still need to give you a tour of the Dragon sometime" Josh would remark. "Though her time as my full time ship is beginning to come to an end, I think. We have a new one in construction, while the Dragon will be made to work more like an agent ship for dropping in more undetected" He would admit. "But that probably won't be for a few months more at least."

Opening the doors to the master bedroom, a porg would immediately zoom past him and begin rocketing around the ship. Which caused Jason to break out in a series of uncontrollable giggles.

When they had travelled here, it had been a short trip and a tour hadn't been given. Now the opportunity was given, Josh told her a new ship was being built for him and he nodded. Smiling when he said this one would be more for agent work, it was something Ra understood very well.

"Unmarked ships are best for that. Having had to do some undercover activities...I understand."

They had met when she was with her fleet, but she had her own ship for more clandestine activities. She hung onto her old freighter for such things and was pleased with its performance. At any time, she could get a better or newer ship, but it did the job she wanted it to and that is what mattered.

Following Josh through the ship after they got cleaned up and finished eating, she let out a small sweek of surprise when the porg burst out his cabin. Ducking down so as to make smaller target, her arms covered her head until she heard Jason giggling. Peeking out at him, her arms lowered slowly. Her body was slightly tense though and she looked ready to cover her head again at any time.

"I didn't get a good look at that."

He nodded his head in turn. "It's just easier to get in without being noticed with a smaller ship, so this new one will have a docking bay for this one. You'll get a tour of both before it's finished being built, and after it's finished though" Josh would remark with a grin. He was happy to get a new, bigger, more functional ship but there was something cozy and homey about this one too. But he'd swapped to a new model dubbed The Final Dragon a few times now, he was used to swapping up. And he was still putting this one into use, it wasn't time for it to be retired just yet.

Josh would laugh when Ra would duck down as a result of the flying Porgbert. He would let out a whistle as the Porg would stop and land on his shoulder.

"This is Porgbert."

Unlike Josh, Ra had held onto her original ship. It had become hers when her captain had been killed and he had been the one that got her on the road to being a merchant. She most certainly could have gotten a different ship for her personal use, but the small freighter did its job and that was what mattered.

"That'll be nice. I never did see the reason to get a different personal ship. Besides, it's full of wonderful memories for me."

That was said just before Porgbert was released and flew past her. Giving Josh a slightly dirty look when he laughed at her, she took it with humor though. Watching as the bird thing landed on his shoulder, Ra looked at him for a moment and then between Jason and Josh...and back to Porgbert.

"Is he nice enough to let me pet him?"

“Of course he is” Josh answered, giving Ra a big smile as he tried to catch the porg so Ra could pet him. But he hopped from one part of his shoulder to another, seeming to be taking this as a form of peace play. Letting out a laugh, he seemed to just let it go and silently welcome Ra to try her hand if she wished.

“Jason will probably crash before long” Josh would admit. “Probably as soon as the sugar rush wears off.”

He would probably fall asleep himself before long too. It’d been a long day, after all. But… It was kind of nice. To be able to sleep in what felt like a home, with what felt almost like a family there. It was familiar, not the same, but familiar. It was a calming feeling to him.

Watching the porg hop from one shoulder to the other of Josh was quite amusing and Ra chuckled a little. Once Josh gave up and Porgbert appeared to have settled down, she held a hand out. Unless he tried to bite or avoid her, she would pet him on his head and neck, but not go any further.

“Did you know that birds feel the petting of the body as a form of foreplay?”

This was said in a whisper just loud enough for Josh to hear. It was said with a straight face, but a small glint in her eyes.

Porgbert would stare at Ra for a moment when she would hold out her hand. Staring at her with those big eyes, the Porg seemed to consider whether she was a threat or not. Seeming to decide she wasn’t a threat, Porgbert seemed to let her pet him, and Josh chuckled lightly in turn. “Seems you’ve found a friend” The Jedi would comment as he looked around for Jason to see if he was still trying to lick ice cream off his face. He’d given him a spoon when they had walked back onto the ship, to finish it off since he didn’t like to eat the cone. And Josh had done the same thing. Seems it was a shared trait. Hereditary? Or just a coincidence?

He didn’t see him, he’d have to look in a sec. But Ra’s words about birds made Josh stop and stare at her a moment, looking horrified for a moment. Why would she say that about birds? Jason loved birds! Josh couldn’t even think of sexualizing something that Jason loved so much! He just slowly nodded his head at that.

“I’m gonna find Jason” He said as he would hand Porgbert to her. “Try not to pet it too heavily.”

Was that an innuendo? Hard to say. Either way, he would walk away and eventually found Jason crashed on the couch. Josh would laugh a bit in turn as he would walk over and clean up the ice cream that covered his face and mouth now that he wouldn’t be eating anymore. Picking up the cones, he noted Jason had eaten it to his last drop.

Happy to have made a friend of Porgbert, she wasn’t sure how best to hold him when Josh handed him off. Probably looking a bit like a duck out of water holding him, Ra stayed where she was while he went in search of Jason.

It was soon obvious he had been found and Ra would lightly pet the porg while she waited for him to come back.

“Where does the bird sleep?”

Quack.

Porgbert just stared at her when he was handed off to Ra, though before long he began cooing and making little Porg noises that indicated he was enjoying the attention. While he was generally quite skittish and wasn’t as openly affectionate as a canine, thus why Josh was considering looking for a second pet that would more serve the purpose, Porgbert did have his moments. He was kind of like a cat, in a way.

Josh would carry Jason past Ra, inviting her to join him as he would carry Jason to his bedroom. As the crew quarters were too far away, and he knew that odds were Jason would make himself sick from all he’d ate during the trip and would have night time tummy aches in the middle of the night, he decided to just keep him close by for the night.

“Porgbert sleeps where he wants” He whispered once he had tucked Jason in. Feeling his forehead for heat, he would nod his head and pull the covers over him gently. Smiling lightly, he kept his hold on Jason a bit longer.

“Good night, Jason” He whispered softly as he would walk out of the room, stretching out. “Jason tends to have night terrors, or just gets sick if he eats too much, when middle of the night comes. I usually re-purpose the crew quarters for him otherwise, but this go around, I think I’ll keep him a bit more close by… Saves me some grief” He would explain.

Moving out of the way and still looking like a duck out of water, she followed Josh as he took Jason to bed. His son looked very sweet sleeping in his arms and she attempted to set Porgbert down with him when he was tucked into the bed.

She was familiar with the nightmare thing from the nights they had spent in Bast before and didn’t think it any different.

“He’s always close to you when he’s around. Never too far away.”

Once Josh was done and they were back out in the hallway, she looked up at him for a moment before speaking.

“Where do we sleep?”

Ra had made the right decision in having Porgbert sleep near Jason, as the Porg would soon enough find it’s way toward the center of the bed to roost, just not far from Jason. It seemed it was time for the bird to rest as well. And even if they weren’t, they seemed to always make the exception for Jason. It was clear that the Porg had a soft spot for the child.

Once they were out, Ra would ask about where they were sleeping.

“I’ll be sleeping with Jason, obviously. Kind of the point of having him sleep in my bed” He responded. “That does leave the guest chambers if you want them, of course. Or the couch, whichever your preference” Josh added. “My bedroom’s available, of course, but… I’m not sure about what you’d think of the lack of room” He would admit, scratching his head. She had said “we”, but he had already indicated he was keeping Jason close by as he knew that he’d likely wake Josh up before long anyway and there was no point in keeping the child in a separate room right now. So he wasn’t sure what she wanted. He tried to at least let her know she had options.

She must have been more tired than she though or she would have noticed that detail. Of course, that just showed how worn Ra was. Shrugging her shoulders, she considered her options.

“A bed would be better I think. So one of the guest chambers is fine. If you wouldn’t mind showing me the way.”

Already standing to the side, she would pick up his hand if he allowed it and give it a squeeze. Though sleeping together would be great, she understood on a basic level his need to be close to Jason.

“That’s fine. I only have one set of guest chambers, so I hope these will be alright” He would answer as he would begin to lead the way. Josh knew he needed real crew quarters eventually… It was about time, he thought, with how his missions had been going and with the constant company that he kept… That it might be time for an upgrade. Times changed and his equipment had to change too.

He would keep hold of her hand as he led the way, until they came to a room. It wasn’t the biggest bedroom, but it had the essentials, it was well kept and the bed was large enough to house an adult. A bit big for Jason to sleep in by himself, as Josh had noted that he was sleeping here during times that he didn’t need Josh immediately, but it was what it was. It was within easy walking distance though. And hearing distance. So Ra wasn’t far from his quarters if she had need of him.

Thinking she intended to head to sleep here and now, Josh figured it was best he turn in as well he knew as he released her hand.

“See you in the ‘morn, then?” He inquired. “The rooms are proofed against the hyperdrive’s effects, you’ll barely feel it when we go into hyperspace. We’ll be moving by the time you’re up.”

“I travel for a living aboard very large freighter ships when I’m not on missions or running my movement. So spacefaring might just be in blood by now.”

It would be nice to get back to the merchant roots she had for so many years. Time would tell if that was possible though.

Essentials were covered and she paused just before going into the room.

“See you when we all wake up. Thank you for the wonderful day out.”

She wouldn’t be sleeping far from him and the room would be comfortable enough. Standing up on tiptoes, Ra would attempt to plant a kiss on Josh before he turned away to head back to his room.

“Glad to hear.”

It seemed she would be settled, at least. It would be nice to spend the night with Ra, but… Fatherly duties came first, and she knew that. He appreciated that she respected that, as well.

He would smile at her words, and gave a gentle half bow in response.

“It’s no problem. We were glad to have you with us.”

He would return her advances, giving a light peck on her lips before he would turn and head back to his quarters.

Time would tell if there was a future between them, he supposed.
