PRODUCTION INFORMATION
TECHNICAL INFORMATION
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Internal Security Scanner Uplink: Gar'gotabor droids are all connected into a ship's internal security scanner, allowing them to be used as mobile scanner platforms, thus increasing the amount of surveillance a ship has.
  • Ion Charge Failsafe: Unauthorized attempts to access the droid's memory will trigger a failsafe ion charge, frying the droid's circuits and deleting the data on it.
STRENGTHS
  • Advanced Self-Repair Capabilities: Maintenance droids face all manner of hazards when working, and given the droid's secondary purpose as a security droid, Breshig War Forge Consolidated thought it prudent the droid be given self-repair capabilities to reduce the amount of maintenance required, allowing the droid's owners to focus on the maintenance of what they bought the droid to maintain in the first place.
  • Repair Database: The Gar'gotabor can be programmed with a repair database, giving it an enhanced understanding of the ships/vehicles/installation(s) it is expected to maintain allowing it to come to a better conclusion about what might be required for a particular repair job.
  • Wide Array of Tools and Sensors: The Gar'gotabor has a wide variety of tools and sensors to tackle the tasks that it might be expected to carry around, meaning that the number of times a specialists might be required to solve a particular problem is far reduced.
  • Resilient: The Gar'gotabor is well protected against a wide variety of threats, whether they're on the battlefield or while it's working.
  • Data Link: Gar'gotabor droids in the same proximity as one share data via a short ranged encrypted comms frequency to enable them to better coordinate with one another on tasks, whether it be assisting in the manufacturing process of a new corvette or hunting down intruders. This datalink can also link to a ship's computer to access diagnostic information.
  • Intelligent: The Gar'gotabor is meant to be far more intelligent than the average maintenance/construction droid, able to understand complex instructions and make educated decisions of its own when it comes to tasks it is assigned rather than requiring constant oversight. Which isn't to say the droid requires no oversight at all.
  • Isotope-5 Reactor: Jare'la is fitted with an Isotope-5 reactor, giving it impressive power generation capabilities. The droid could easily be used to jump start a speeder if it really came to it.
WEAKNESSES
  • Droid: Despite the measure taken to protect the Gar'gotabor against EMP/Ion damage, a powerful enough weapon will still fry this droid like a protato in a deep-fat fryer.
  • IFF or Death: Anyone not transmitting a friendly IFF signal not already in the droid's registry of friendly targets will immediately come under attack by the droid unless specifically instructed otherwise by Shuklaar.
  • Not Designed For Combat: Despite Shuklaar's attempts to augment the droid's combat capabilities, his attempts only made the droid more aggressive in combat, which in fact is what earned it its name.
  • Acid: Shuklaar didn't give Jare'la any protection against acid weapons, and so the only protection it has is however long whatever acid would take to corrode through its armor.
  • Sonic: The droid's armor provides no protection against sonic weapons, hard sound or otherwise.
  • Large: Like the "Hatchling" Maintenance droid that it's meant to supplant, the Gar'gotabor is a large droid, almost three meters long and a meter tall, limiting its use on smaller ships.
  • Intimidating: It can be unsettling for some to see a droid like this hovering by one's side.
  • Isotope-5 Reactor: If the reactor overloads, then the resulting detonation will result in the destruction of the droid and potentially anything else in a large radius around it.
DESCRIPTION
The droid that would eventually become known as "Jare'la" started life as the first production model of the Gar'gotabor line. When Shuklaar had seen the demonstration of the droids, he'd decided that he'd wanted one, and so put down payment for one. What he didn't know was that he would receive the very first droid to ever be produced. Quite pleased with himself, Shuklaar took making some modifications that would have been far too exorbitant to have been standard features on the production model, such as a Stesr'gar frame and Stesr'gar-reinforced Duraplast composite armor. Additionally, the droid was fitted with a thermal armor hull lined and a duravlex and zersium insulation to correct one of the flaws on the production model.

Intending to use the droid as his personal engineer whenever he personally takes to the shipyard or factory, as well as mobile firepower for when he needs to step out and shoot a few shabuire, he tried his best to improve the droid's combat capabilities by installing a Droid Anatomy Upgrade, Droid Combat Enhancement and a Droid Battle Upgrade. Unfortunately, this only made the droid far more aggressive in combat, almost suicidally so. Which solved the problem of what the droid's name was going to be pretty quickly. The droid also developed an overprotective streak as far as Shuklaar was concerned, which led Fleet Admiral Kote to inquire as to why he didn't, "just get a shabla strill, you atin, dini'la di'kut?" True to form, Shuklaar doubled down on his decision and replaced the dual heavy blaster pistols the droid has stock with a PPC-01 Phased Pulse cannon.

He didn't stop there, however, and outfitted a Gata'dr shield generator to the droid to increase its survivability, citing that he couldn't quite let it be shot to bits now that he'd put all this work into it. This of course meant increased power requirements, and so he replaced the droid's stock power supply with an Argu'a'ika Isotope-5 power generator. The amount of power generated was vastly more than was required by the droid, but also gave it the capability to divert some of that power elsewhere to power other devices, droids or even some vehicles.

Ever since, the droid and Shuklaar have been more or less largely inseparable. Though tempted to take the droid down to Myrkr and then Wayland, he was wisely cautioned against such an idea.
