Intent: A pneumatic cannon that shoots jars of bees at foes.

Development Thread: N/A I can dev this one if necessary, but the concept is so simple, getting 10 posts out of it would require being excessively tedious.

Manufacturer: Rusty's Custom Firearms and Cutlery

Model: N/A

Affiliation: Open Market

Modularity: You can swap bees out for wasps. Or ants. Maybe even spiders, though that's just being mean.

Production: Production: Minor

Material: Pneumatic Air Cannon components, glass, bees

Classification: Pneumatic Air Cannon

Size: Handheld

Length: < 1 meter

Weight: 3 kilograms for air cannon

Ammunition Type: Jar of Bees. For smaller species, such as yellowjackets or killer bees, figure on 100 insects per jar. For larger species, such as bumblebees and large hornets, around 30-40. Expect 20-30% to die on impact, leaving the rest very angry.

Ammunition Capacity: Single shot

Effective Range: Maybe 50 meters if the wind is right.

Special Features: Did I mention it's a gun that shoots bees?

Description: The idea for this weapon started out as a result of Rusty drinking alcohol for the first time in an HRD.

The premise is simple: Rusty took a T-shirt cannon of the sort used to please crowds at sporting events, found a jar that would fit in the mouth, and filled said jar with bees. While utterly useless as anything more than a hilarious distraction, he realized that the best distractions are usually hilarious.

Range is short, less than 50 meters. The rate of fire is slow, and each jar has to be loaded manually. Also, the ammunition is glass, and therefore fragile, and also full of bees. If you drop a jar, you're really going to wish you stuck to flashbangs.

They're pretty hardy. I expect a few to get killed on impact, but the majority would survive. It's a numbers game, really.

You do not want to know how I know that.

How many bees, on average (assuming you want to fill it to the brim without over-filling and killing them), can you fit into one of these jars? Or is it literally one bee per jar

Depends on the species. Honey bees, upwards of a hundred. Bumblebees, closer to 30 or 40.

My preferred ammunition would be yellowjackets. You can fit about 100 of them in a jar, and when they die, they release attack pheromones. Figure about 20 die on impact, and when they smush, the rest go into a frenzy.
