With the Black Sun Cartels on the rise, the members of that organization were looking for a ship they would be able to take a two or three day trip with enough comfort to tolerate, but also with fighter capabilities. The answer was a deep space starfighter designed to be able to engage in combat, but also be used as a reconnaissance vessel for systems the Black Sun Cartels would enter. Taking what they learned from the design of the IST-100 Spur, the IST engineers came up with the Fireaxe. Several organizations invested in a commission from IST to produce this vessel. A very limited number of Black Sun personnel have access to this specialized fighter.
