Faction Issue # 1 - Arrival at the Praxeum [NJP/ Open to All Jedi]

Kitter Bitters

Keeper of Bitter Tales from the Galaxy

s3k4qwE.png

Location: New Jedi Praxeum on Chalacta

Just after sunrise, the first ships began to arrive over Chalacta, at first a distant glimmer, then a steady procession descending into the Praxeum's open hangar. One by one, Jedi disembarked, some cautious, others quietly hopeful, all drawn by the same call. There were no formal escorts, only fellow Jedi guiding them inward through wide corridors toward the heart of the academy, the Great Hall, where the first gathering would take place.

Inside, the hall buzzed with low, restless energy. Small groups formed and reformed as voices carried across the circular space, excited chatter mingling with uncertainty. Some Jedi stood with guarded skepticism, others with visible nerves, while a few simply seemed relieved to no longer stand alone. As more arrivals filtered in, the room swelled with presence, a living convergence of paths long separated. At the center, an open space remained untouched, and gradually, attention turned toward it, toward the moment when those who had built this new academy would step forward and begin.

Emberlene's Daughter, The Jedi Generalist
The displacement was small, subtle enough as the jedi master came there. The Unbeing guiding her when she sensed it as her eyes looked onwards. The last meeting had seen her daughter insulted while she hovered there. Her robes adjusting as the sleeves receded to leave her arms bare, the white and silver of the robes giving a look few could match with her black hair hovering behind her. THe art of the small letting her manipulate her molecules so she could float there and glide through them. Her hair entangled with the air of a thousand worlds and lungs filled with more air but she was moving and remained there. Looking at the padawans as the smaaller jedi masterr glided through them towards where the others would be. Her eyes tracking but she moved around and through the crowds finding a place to observe and listen.

Aris was within the crowd, though as per usual he stood above most of them. It'd been some time since he last proper stepped into a temple. The most recent wasn't for the sake of the Jedi or learning, just an idle curiosity he sated. Now, though, he couldn't help the calm smile on his face as he glanced about the others present. It was good to be amongst friends again.

If they ended up his friends. It'd be nice if they did, but he wasn't the best at making them. For now he focused where the others had. Friends or not, he hoped this was a sort of Academy he could bring another he had in mind.

Kuhbee arrived just as the steady rhythm of incoming ships began to slow, the morning light stretching long across the landing platforms of the New Jedi Praxeum. His vessel touched down with a soft hum, and for a moment, he didn't move. Through the viewport, he could see others disembarking as Jedi of all paths and pasts walked. Some were confident, some uncertain. He realized he was not alone in that feeling.

Stepping out at last, Kuhbee adjusted his robes, the familiar weight both comforting and unfamiliar after so long away. His time back home lingered with him, the aftermath of Black Sun's presence still etched into memory, the faces of those he had helped, the responsibility he had chosen over his training. It had been the right decision… he knew that. And yet, as he followed the flow of arrivals toward the great hall, a quiet doubt crept in. How much had he missed? How far behind had he fallen?

Inside, the hall buzzed with energy of voices overlapping, anticipation building. Kuhbee paused at the threshold, taking it all in. This place was new, untested… but it was alive with possibility. He steadied himself, exhaling slowly, and stepped forward into the crowd. His eyes immediately spotted someone he knew. Aris Noble was easy to pick out of any crowed as he was so tall. The energetic cub practically bounced over to the other Jedi.

"Griwrr Roarr Hirrr" He waved his arms in greeting as the small translator droid gave a wheezy interpretation of his growls.

[Aris! It's so nice to see you again!]

Kuhbee also noticed another Jedi who seemed to be floating or maybe she was hovering? He wasn't sure. This was not a technique he knew.

Her shuttle had been one of many descending in quiet succession onto Chalacta as morning light spilled across the Praxeum grounds. She had traveled alongside other Jedi, their silence on the journey less distant than it might have seemed. For Pari, however, something within her had already begun to settle long before the shuttle touched down.

She was home.

As she stepped onto the soil of Chalacta, a quiet warmth moved through her, familiar and grounding. The air, the light, even the subtle presence of the Force here felt known to her in a way no distant world ever could. And as she made her way inward with the others, she began to notice something that stirred a deeper sense of hope: Jedi and Chalactan adepts moving alongside one another with ease. There was no separation, no quiet tension between traditions, only a shared rhythm, a mutual respect. It was not something she had often seen beyond her homeworld.

By the time she entered the Great Hall, it was already alive with motion and sound.

Voices carried softly through the circular space, curiosity, hesitation, cautious optimism weaving together into something new. Pari paused briefly at the threshold, taking it all in, her gaze lingering not on the crowd itself, but on the harmony beneath it. Jedi of different paths, and the subtle presence of Chalactan sensibilities woven among them felt so right to her.

She drifted inward without urgency, settling along the outer curve of the hall. Her posture was relaxed, her presence steady, hands resting loosely at her sides. She did not join the conversations, though she listened to them. Instead, she allowed herself a quiet moment, eyes closing briefly as she reached out through the Force.

It flowed here as it always had on Chalacta, balanced, living, and deeply connected. When she opened her eyes again, there was a softness to her expression, something close to quiet joy. Pari Sylune would wait with the others but unlike many in the hall, her waiting was not shaped by uncertainty.

Only by hope for what might grow here, now that she had finally returned home.

The praxeum was lovely, it was grand, in testament to the force and the honour of all the Jedi before, but also austere. Her boots clicked as she walked along the bare corridors and she briefly closed her eyes to feel the force of the place and allow herself to be guided to where she was supposed to be, not necessarily where she thought she should be. The crystalline cells in her blue skin glittered as it caught in the sunshine and her red hair flowed in the soft breeze from the west.

Solene made her way into the hall, there were faces here that she recognised and many that she did not, all drawn to the same place at the same time. She would introduce herself to the youngster that stood around the perimeter of the group, herself seeming to bathe in the force. "Lovely, isnt it?" she said to Pari Sylune Pari Sylune as she took her own position. "Have you ever been to Chalacta? I wasnt sure what I might find here but it does feel right." she breathed deeply taking in both the air and the metaphysical breath of the force.

Pari turned and noticed that a blue skinned female was talking to her. She smiled, her teak colored eyes warm and welcoming. "I have. I was raised on Chalacta. It is so nice to be back here, especially among fellow Jedi. The planet holds a special place in my heart."

She smiled, and paused as if she was savoring the very air on the planet.

"My name is Pari. It's so nice to see you. Is this your first visit here?"

"Kuhbee." Aris smiled rather warmly towards the Wookie, whom he comically dwarfed at least for the moment. How long that would last was up in the air. "It's good to see you in turn. You've grown, haven't you?" In more ways than one, Aris imagined. This galaxy was an unforgiving place. Seeing Kuhbee still smiling though was a warmth of it's own. The Jedi were still standing, all over.

Zaiya Ceti Zaiya Ceti was ever right about them being lights that would always brighten even the darkest days.

Kael was confused as to what was going on. He was masterless, still, and had just arrived on Naboo to what he thought was to begin training and hopefully be assigned a master, but as he stepped foot into the prestigious gold atrium of the largely inspired temple that looked like it was made for royalty, he, alongside other masterless Padawans were told to file into lines for several bright white shuttles with gold trim on them. One by one, they filed into the shuttles packing them tightly like sardines albeit much more comfortable with plenty of leg room.

Kael sat by the window and looked out into the sky as the shuttle began to move upward and within a blink of an eye it seemed, he saw nothing but stars and the planet of Naboo looked seemingly distant.

Kael drifted off into a deep slumber slouched sideways leaning onto the window. The padawan next to him woke him up as they began to descend into a landing.

Kael stood up and rearranged his white and gold Padawan robe as he waiting to exit the shuttle.

One by one everyone began to disembark. Once outside, Kael stood at awe as he walked closer and closer to the Praxeum. He thought the temple on Naboo looked beautiful, but that place isn't far off on the scale.

Kael looked around at so many other Jedi, some with masters, some without and he did not recognize a single one. He turned to the ones that were standing the closest to him.

"I hate to ask, what is this place, and what are we all doing here?"

SHe watched several of them arrive and converse for a moment. Hovering there as one spoke and her voice came out while the jedi didn't move frrom her spot in the air. "An excellent question, I too am curious the quarterly conclave just wrapped up a month or so ago." She said it with a look but turned her head to look at him while she moved in the silvery white robes. "But it is also a chance to meet your fellows." She looked at the ones there and raised a small moment as she was hovering with her hand coming out and the kyberite Force Candies coming to her hand. She stayed there with one hand taking a delicate piece of the candy while she ate it. "Candy?"

The girl grew up here, so that explained the effortless comfort she seemed to have with the place.

"My name is Pari. It's so nice to see you. Is this your first visit here?"

"I'm Solene, and its a pleasure.

No, I've traveled a lot but have never made it here. Its very different from the world I grew up on. Ever heard of a planet called Kestri?"
she asked making polite introduction. The little ice world with its hard weather and even harder people would always be the place she spent her childhood, even if it was no longer her home.

Solene tried listening in to the other conversations but her interest was focused on the youngster. She would love to know more about this planet, perhaps the girl would give her a path to understanding why she had travelled to this faraway planet.

"Candy?" Matsu Ike asked.
Kael turned and looked at the elegantly dressed Jedi standing right beside him.

"Yes, please." Kael muttered in response as the woman gave him the piece of candy, with his mouth full and chewing, he turned around to look at the sea of Jedi, all in different colored attire, some like him, must have come from the high Republic. Some were dressed in brown, silver, white, and even black. They were all different species too, of all walks of life. Kael thought to himself, this is what being a Jedi is like, it has to be.

Kael turned back around to begin another conversation with the one who offered him candy,
"My name is Kael, Kael Venn, and you are?"

......Ever heard of a planet called Kestri?"

"Oh no, I have not. I've been studying in the archives, but there are just so many worlds to learn. I do love to travel, though, and hope to see as much of the galaxy as I can. When I received the invitation that said a new praxeum was opening on Chalacta I just knew I had to come. This planet is such a peaceful and meditative place. The Chalactan Adepts raised me. I am hopeful that having a Jedi presence on the planet can help my people recover from the hardships endured under the Black Sun Syndicate's occupation. "

"It's good to see you in turn. You've grown, haven't you?"

"Graii Arrggii Haarrgggg Goarrr"

[I have! Almost eighteen centimeters since we played dodgeball together. Someday I may be as tall as you!]

Kuhbee was bouncing on the balls of his feet, clearly excited to see Aris, but whereas the young cub would have once bounded forward and hugged the Knight, he was now somewhat more restrained. The restless energy was being tamed, slowly but surely, through the Jedi path.

"Well, I mean... guys like us, we're not exactly the type of people they write about in history books, you know? But the people we saved, they're our legacy."

The light of Chalacta's morning filtered softly through the high windows of the great hall, catching on polished stone and the quiet movement of gathered robes. Katarine Ryiah stood just beyond the threshold, hands loosely clasped at her sides, though her fingers betrayed her with the slightest tension. She had faced down criminals, unraveled conspiracies, and walked willingly into the shadows of the Force, but this? This was different.

For so long, she had lived on the edges of the Order.

Since awakening from stasis into a fractured galaxy, one where the old republic had fallen and the Jedi had scattered into splintered paths, Katarine had felt unmoored. The familiar anchors of purpose, council, and community were gone. In their place was silence, distance… and questions. She had thrown herself into her work as an investigator, joined first the New Jedi Order and then the Jedi on Naboo, and committed herself to chasing threads of darkness across distant systems. It was easier that way. Safer. In the field, she knew who she was.

But here, standing at the entrance to the great hall, she felt the weight of something far more uncertain: hope.

They had come. Jedi from distant enclaves, from hidden worlds, from paths she did not yet understand. Some curious. Some skeptical. Some carrying wounds she could almost feel through the Force, and all of them were waiting.

Waiting for her. Waiting for her to explain why she had gathered them all there and why invitations had been sent to any Jedi who wanted them. She was no grand council member like Romi Jade Romi Jade nor a battleworn grandmaster like Valery Noble Valery Noble , or even the founder of an entire republic like Briana Sal-Soren Briana Sal-Soren . Katarine Ryiah was a simple investigator who had stood in the shadows and watched as other Jedi rose to leadership, but now she was dipping her toe into the water, and she just hoped she didn't drown. When Connel Vanagor Connel Vanagor had suggested to her that opening an enclave might be her path, she had brushed it off, but it seems listening to him, at least every once in a while, might be the wise call. That is, if this didn't go terribly. She supposed she could always blame him if it did. The thought made her grin, especially when she thought about letting Buster help her with the blame game.

Katarine exhaled slowly, grounding herself in the present moment, the way Master Tanelorn had taught her. The Force flowed through her, not as certainty, but as quiet encouragement. A reminder: you are not alone.

She stepped forward.

The murmur of voices softened as she entered, and though her heart quickened, her presence remained steady. She moved to the front of the hall, her gaze sweeping across the gathered Jedi, not as a leader above them, but as one among them.

"For a long time," she began, her voice calm but honest, "I did not think I would stand in a place like this again. When I awoke from centuries of stasis, the galaxy I remembered was gone. The Jedi… had changed. I quickly found support in The Galactic Alliance, but then that anchor fell away, leaving me swaying once more. After the war in the Core ,many of us were left to walk our own paths, uncertain of where we belonged."

She paused briefly, her expression softening. "I know that feeling. I have lived in it. I've traveled to small enclaves, far away bases, and even to the mighty halls of the Shirayan Temple, but still I felt lost and unknown amongst my Jedi brothers and sisters." Her eyes moved across the crowd, meeting theirs where she could.

"My work kept me apart. In the shadows. Investigating what others could not, or would not. It gave me purpose… but it also kept me from all of you."

A breath. A shift.

"This Praxeum is my answer to that."

She gestured gently to the hall around them.

"Not as opposition to The Jedi Order or as a replacement for what is, or what we lost when the New Jedi Order disbanded, but as something new and unique. A place where Jedi can come together again. Not bound by rigid expectation, but guided by shared purpose. A place to learn. To teach. To question. To grow."

There was quiet now, but not empty, and listening.

"You are not here because you were called to follow me," she said, a faint, sincere smile touching her expression. "You are here because I wish to serve you. I want to serve my fellow Jedi and help them grow. I want to step out from behind my investigative anonymity and find balance and meaning in the teaching and service of others."

Katarine straightened slightly, though her voice remained warm. "So I welcome you, not as students, or divided Jedi from different sects and locations, and not as subordinates, but as fellow Jedi who I want to get to know better and serve."

She let the words settle before continuing.

"Stay, if you wish. Learn what you need. Teach what you can. Challenge one another. Support one another. This New Praxeum is fully operational and ready to serve as an anchor for any Jedi searching for a place to belong. It's doors are open to every enclave, every group, every sect, and every independent who calls themselves Jedi. My goal is to help train a new generation to rise up and allow the Jedi to stand strong once again. And together… we will build something worthy of those who came before us, and those who will come after."

The Force stirred gently through the hall, not with grandeur, but with something quieter, steadier, and for the first time since her awakening, Katarine Ryiah no longer felt unmoored.
"Our kitchen staff has prepared a wonderful brunch for all of you. There are assistants waiting to assign rooms to any who wish to stay here, for however long that is. Please join me in breaking bread and learning who you all are because soon it will be time for us to begin lessons at the New Jedi Praxeum."

She bowed respectfully to the room, her heart pounding and her nerves spiking slightly as she wondered what reception she would receive.

She let him enjoy the kyberite candies while hovering there with a nod. "I am Master Ike." She was going to say more when Katarine spoke up and was answering the purpose of them being here.. or opening the floor. The grandmasters eyebrows came up as she was more observing what was happening. More she listened to the plan and didn't speak as she hovered there. Taking between herr fingers a piece of the candy with a nod of interest more to see if she was going to expand on her idea. The hair floating behind her like a curtain of void and twinkling kyber stars. "I see." She said it while there but was looking at more of it and the others who were here.

Maybe that is why Solene was here. She too had a history with pirates and had gone through a lot of healing from her own early childhood. Perhaps there was something she could help bring to the people here. The very thought of it just felt right.

The pair stopped talking while Katarine Ryiah Katarine Ryiah spoke about her intent here. Solene didnt know Katarine but that didnt suprise her given the diversity of her culture and the size of the galaxy. It was a noble aim, building a new order in the oldest traditions of the Jedi. She had no ill will to any of the larger orders but she would be lying to say that there were those amongst them that had lost their way. She gave a polite clap to Katarine at the end of her speech. "I will break bread with you." she said quietly to herself before turning her voice back to the youngster.

"I cant help but notice you are alone, you are a padawan, correct? Who is your teacher?" she asked, making assumptions purely based on the girl's age and what she thought she felt of her in the force.

Oryn almost felt like he was on a tour of Jedi temples across the Galaxy, first Dantooine, now Chalacta. It was a great way to expand his horizon. Each Enclave, while Jedi, surely had their own culture, through which many models of Jedi were presented. What it meant to be a Jedi was not such a singular thing as he had first believed.

The young Nautolan scanned the crowd. New faces were all around, but he could feel that he wasn't the only one who felt a little new and lost. It gave him a measure of peace. One figure in the crowd stood out, quite literally. That Aris Noble Aris Noble fella was taaaall….

There was little to make Oryn stand out, apart from being the only Nautolan, and the white and gold trimmed robes that immediately identified him as a Jedi of the High Republic.

Like the rest, he shuffled in to listen to the speech of Katarine Ryiah Katarine Ryiah . It gave context to why there were there. Opening a new temple, another enclave. Oryn had his home on Naboo, yet this could still be a safe haven within a Galaxy riddled by war and despair.

After the speech, he found himself drawn towards the Wookie and that one massive dude. He wasn't sure why at first, but as he reflected on it, he realized it was because they were both radiating a certain warmth, and he was drawn to it like moth to a flame. The air around them felt particularly safe, somehow. It was ironic, as alone they both could be seen as quite intimidating figures. The arm-ripping capabilities of Wookies were famous, and had he mentioned how tall that other dude was?

"Hi! I'm Oryn Selvar. Are you also Jedi? Where are you from?" he introduced himself, while trying to stay aware of the fact that he might be stepping in on a private conversation. He was ready to excuse himself in case he was intruding.

The air was almost like being at a beach on a far away oceanside planet. It had a warm flow through the air but also with a hint of moisture. It felt divine to Kael, he stood there and took it all in when the woman next to him spoke.

I am Master Ike. She said.

Kale thought to himself, a Master. That explains it. He wondered if she had already had a Padawan, but didn't want to ask her that. Kael has always thought that Masters and Padawans were assigned within the Jedi, so he left it alone.

"Nice to meet you, Master Ike." The moment his finished those words, he heard a louder voice. It was the voice of Katarine Ryiah Katarine Ryiah . He listened in awe as she spoke, with such passion. Every word that left her lips were like a drumbeat of solace, dum. Dum. beat.beat.beat. It was powerful. Kael began to smile, he knew this was where he wanted to be. He was home.

After the woman's speech ended, he turned back to Master Ike.
"Is it just you here, no padawans or knights under you?" Kael thought that was a smooth way of not only making conversation, but also inquiring about her Padawan situation.

She looked at the padawan with a small look of interest but spoke with a nod. "I did not know the intentions of why we were all gathering. Usually meetings of the different orders ignores the padawans or.." SHe let it hang as being passive aggressive about insulting other orders was petty in its own way. "The Silver Jedi are also endeavoring in alternative places to most of the other orders. We maintain out network of temples in this galaxy and dimensional force plane." She said it though looking at the others and there were a handful she didn't know as she adjusted herself in the air to be eye-level with the mountain of Aris. "This may prove an interesting field trip for the Matrons to bring the children to."
