To a number of faction one can join or just there a limit to major factions you can join I'm a bit confused on the joining of faction rules

There is no limit to how many factions you can join, major and minor factions included. Of course, it'd be a bit curious should your Jedi character suddenly join the One Sith, or vice versa. 
As long as it makes sense that your character would join that particular faction, why not?

Thank you for the answer I wasn't sure that would be odd to be a one sith but I wasn't going to be sith though Gabe don't like sith I was thinking of only joining light side or some thing in between light and dark
