ADVANCED SYSTEMS
STRENGTHS
  • Armoured - Where it lacks in weaponry the Iron Class makes up for in armour. The ships advanced shielding allows it to take quite a beating before going down. This allows the Iron Class to sustain heavy amounts of fire, protecting the troops it may be carrying from enemy fire.
  • Heavy Load - For a ship of its size the Iron Class can carry a lot of smaller craft and personnel. With 4 hangers and 2 ventral docking clamps it has space for 4 squadrons of either fighters, light bombers or dropships with the 2 docking clamps being able to hold 2 corvette sized transport craft or 2 large ground vehicles which the Iron Class can take through hyperspace. Additionally, the ship has a large amount of passenger quarters which resembled barracks, allowing large amounts of troops to be stationed on the ship.
  • Landing Gear - Much like transport ships of old such as the Acclamator Class Assault ship, the Iron Class is equipped with landing gear, allowing it to land on planets in large enough areas. This makes it so it has the ability of landing in hostile environments, where an armoured landing transport is needed over multiple smaller transports.
WEAKNESSES
  • Slow - The Iron Class is very slow. It has slow speed as well as a slow hyperdrive in order for additional room for troops and hanger space. Because of this the transport itself is vulnerable alone, being easily pursued by any enemy craft wishing to. It also causes any fleet it's in to decrease their speed, as the commander of that fleet must consider the fact the Iron Class is so slow.
  • Lightly Armed - The transport itself has very limited weapons with 2 light turbolasers acting as the main weapons of the ship. Apart from that it has a mere 4 point defence turrets to guard the rest of the ship. This makes the transport near useless in naval battles, forcing it to rely on other ships to take down any enemy ships it encounters or to help defend it from enemy ships.
  • Too Spacious - Despite it being able to carry a large amount of troops, space craft and vehicles this has left very limited space for the rest of the ship. There is very little space for advanced systems and additional modifications can't be made without sacrificing space used for holding transports. On top of this, it has left the ship with limited living quarters for the crew meaning only a relatively small crew are able to operate the relatively large ship, often causing the crew to be fatigued after extended periods of operation.
DESCRIPTION
With warfare being an inevitable part of life in the galaxy, the Sorsuub Corporation saw it was necessary to develop a frigate sized armoured transport. The reason for the being the fact that most transports were large carrier class ships which relied on legions of dropships to deploy their troops. The Iron Class is different. While it can rely on dropships to deploy troops it has the ability to deploy troops itself, with the ship small enough to act as a landable transport but large enough to carry a decent amount of troops and vehicles. While the transport does have the ability to field starfighters its hangers are mainly designed to accompany dropships, smaller transport craft or ground vehicles, with additional docking clamps present to hold additional cargo, transports or ships which may not fit inside the hanger. The ship itself is popular with warlords and pirates due to its ability to go anywhere while carrying large amounts of material and personnel.
