There is no section of the Vanish 2 Military Sensor Masking System that mentions manipulating electromagnetic fields, nor is there a section in the Blackest Night System or in the Eidolon submission itself that mentions such capabilities. Likewise, there is no mention in the Eidolon submission or in the Fiberplast and StealthX pages that states that Fiberplast or the Eidolon are non-metallic in nature. Similarly, the General Purpose Warhead Launcher, Caecius Drive System, and Zephyr Hyperdrive list Durasteel, Synth-Steel, and Titanium-chromium as construction materials.Gir Quee said:Since the Eidolons have built-in sensor masks that manipulate electromagnetic fields to blend into an environment, and since their hulls aren't metallic in nature, I'm sort of curious as to how much of a magnetic signature you'd be able to get on them.
Happens I guess. I'll have a post up for you two shortly then.Anija Betna said:[member="Travot Ravenna"] sureguess we were all waiting on each other

If that's the case, the amount of metal available to detect could easily be fairly low. Like I said, some of the systems included in the sub list standard metals as construction materials. I've gone through and double checked the subs and Wiki pages, but I'm still not seeing any mention of Electromagnetics. I gave the benefit of the doubt for the most part. Only two of the three sensor frigates (for real. All they do is detect stuff.) were able to detect anything, and even then it was only because they came flying into the system on a 0.8 Hyperdrive. Had they been hanging around before hand and not came in on a 0.8 hyperdrive, I probably wouldn't have had Larraq's fleet notice them. They have a lot of space to keep an eye on, active scanning or not.Alric Kuhn said:[member="Captain Larraq"]
Fiberplast is like carbon fiber. This was mentioned in several novels that feature the StealthX.

Sensor... Radiation?Ali Hadrix said:I would like to suggest that metallic components deep within a structure, once sensor radiation has been scattered throughout the rest of the vessel, would not yield an intelligible result.
Or else the validity of any stealth system could be challenged on the basis that a hyperdrive cannot be constructed out of non-metallic components.
I feel we should focus on the spirit of the submission, rather than become mired in an endless debate over particulars.
