He didn't move. He saw they had gauged as much from the lesson as they were going to, and some had decided not to partake. It was best to end this with an exclamation point and drive the point home. He held out a hand, and then the other as he watched Numbers, [member="Yag'dril"] and [member="Kaden Blake"] come at him. He began to focus his energy... Knowing that perhaps this was a bit more then necessary, but he wanted to do one thing, and that was drive the point home and drive it home hard. He'd repress his power to the best of his abilities so as not to cause them serious harm, but...
Neither would reach him. The Jedi Master let out a scream that reverberated throughout the room, as he would unleash a Force Repulse that would likely send both Blake, 'Dril and Numbers flying across the room, hitting the wall. With that, a silence would fill the room and the Jedi Master would take a moment to let out a deep breath. Force Repulse, even toned down, took a lot out of him. He'd need a rest, he knew, and thank the Force he'd recruited [member="Shmi Labooda"] to fill a slot for him while he did that.
Why had he done that, one might ask? Sure, he could have used Force Wave... But he wanted them to hit the wall. He wanted them to take a few lumps, without causing major damage. He wanted them to feel sore when they went to bed that night. Every lump, every bump, every bruise, every bit of soreness would be a reminder of the lesson. They would not forget the lesson, it would burn the brightest in their minds, and that was what he needed from them... He needed them to keep this lesson at the center of their very being.
"That is enough."
He would make his way toward the two, first helping Numbers to her feet, then Yag'dril, and then doing the same for Blake. Knowing his condition, Josh would turn first to Padawan Blake. Letting out a breath, he would try and recall what amount of sign he knew, thanking the Force he'd been sure to focus primarily on learning more key words first. He would sign "Force" first, then make a motion to emphasize that it was important, before motioning to himself, and then to him, indicating that the Force was important to them, hoping that it would register that he meant it was important to the Jedi. Josh knew he'd have to find a better method then sign to use on mission for communication, and he had an idea, but that would have to wait for a one on one session with Padawan Blake.
With that, he would turn and walk to the center of the room before addressing each of the Padawans, both new and veteran. He would clear his throat, and then he would speak...
"There was a key lesson to take from that sparring session. Every little bit of it, from my refusing to fight armed, to the end point. The Jedi use a lightsaber quite commonly, yes, that's likely what you've seen or heard of... But this lesson was to remind you of a key part of how we function. The Force. The Force is our main, primary driving... Well, force. It is the most important thing to a Jedi. I fought each of you unarmed... But the Force gave me speed, the Force gave me the ability to augment my own physical attributes, and the Force gave me the strength to finish it the way I did. All without a weapon.
The Force is your ally, your friend... Embrace it as such. It will be the most important part of your training, and it will be the most important, vital aspect of your life as a Jedi going forward. If you lose your weapon, you will have the Force. It is your greatest asset... And your greatest friend.
I repeat. Force. Important. Center" He spoke as he would look toward Padawan Blake and sign "Center" and make the motions of importance again toward the deaf Padawan to hammer the point home. "We are not just monks with glowsticks. Good luck learning to swing that glowstick without the Force. Cast aside everything you have ever heard about the Jedi, or seen the Jedi do... For you new Padawans, this is where you learn from scratch. And the biggest lesson of all will be the importance of the Force. Master it... It may not be the only tool a Jedi should have. But it will be your most important.
A Jedi must be physically, mentally and emotionally ready for anything... A Jedi must master the art of the blade. A Jedi must have compassion, and understanding... But most importantly, a Jedi must always continue to study the Force... Even when they have achieved the rank of Master."
The Jedi Master would nod once more toward the new Padawans.
"Once again... I wish to welcome Padawans [member="Kaden Blake"], [member="Calder Icehammer"], [member="Yag'dril"], [member="#24061"], otherwise nicknamed Numbers... To my class. To hammer home what I said earlier... Look toward your classmates, both your fellow newcomers... As well as to the more learned Padawans in my class... Padawans [member="Douglas Starwind"], [member="Dusaro Dresari"], [member="Anora Vahn"]... Remember their names, their faces. Look at them... And know they are your brothers. They are your sisters. They are not your co-workers, they are your family, and you should fight alongside them as though they are your family."
Looking toward Padawan Blake, he would be sure to motion toward the other Padawans, and sign something signalling importance, trying to sign "family" afterword though he was clearly rather amateur at signing this one, and very well could have signed "Talking Chicken" instead.
Even Masters had things to learn.
"For now... I apologize for the wait, Starwind, Dresari, Vahn... And to you as well, Master Labooda. Now that orientation has been concluded, I would like to give the floor to Master Labooda, if that is still your desire, Shmi... Master Labooda, if you have any advice, or lessons you wish to impart on my students... Please, feel free. The floor is yours."
With that, he would let Shmi take the attention of the Padawans, and would move to sit alongside them, sitting cross-legged as he made eye contact with Shmi... A small smirk crossed his lips that likely only she would see. An indicator that behind the formal, strict teacher she'd seen today... Still lay the casual, smart-ass of a man she'd grown to love.
