AN IMPERIAL CONFEDERATION STORY
INFERNO RISING

THE EMPIRE ONCE DIVIDED HAS UNITED!

After the division of Imperialism between the Dark Empire and the Empire of the Lost, the adherents of Imperialism have once more united a singular banner with the intention of Strength, Authority, and Order to a galaxy plagued by War, Chaos and Corruption.

As the nascent IMPERIAL CONFEDERATION rises, it faces new challenges and threats that seek to undermine its growth and its mission. Thus, the ever vigilant Supreme Commander of the Imperial Armed Forces, MARLON SULAREN has begun assembling a new elite special forces squad to serve as the hidden blade of the Imperial Armed Forces.

On the world of CHOLGANNA, various Imperial Special Forces operatives are gathered together to be evaluated by the Supreme Commander himself through an intense military exercise that will test their physical and mental capabilities along with their ability to operate as a team. There is no room for failure as these operatives are key to the future of the Confederation..

LONG LIVE THE EMPIRE!

MOSHED-2025-5-21-20-6-48-ezgif-com-crop.gif

Within the vast training facilities of the Imperial Center for Military Operations on Cholganna, various Imperial Special Forces operatives are assembled to partake in a major evaluation under the supervision of Supreme Commander Marlon Sularen. In this evaluation their physical and mental limits will be tested along with their ability to communicate as a team and overcome obstacles as a unit. Soon, they will form the core of the Supreme Commander’s PROJECT: INFERNO, which will safeguard the future of the Confederation against those who dare to stand against it.

Current Directives :

  • Gather outside the simulation chamber and await further instructions
  • Get acquainted with the other Special Forces Operatives

Amidst the imposing confines of the Imperial Center for Military Operations, Devang stood poised for a critical evaluation, clad in a crisp uniform fir for the simulation training he will be undergoing, exuding a sense of focus and determination. Assembled under the watchful eye of Supreme Commander Marlon Sularen he awaited the commencement of a rigorous assessment that would push his limits to the edge. Devang's gaze swept across the room, taking in the sight of his fellow operatives, each radiating a distinct air of expertise and readiness. The weight of the impending evaluation hung palpably in the air, a test not only of physical prowess but also of mental acuity and teamwork. This evaluation was a precursor to their involvement in PROJECT: INFERNO, a vital initiative that would define the future security of the Confederation. Devang exchanged nods of acknowledgment with his comrades, recognizing the shared sense of purpose that bound them together. The directives were clear: "Await further instructions and forge connections with his fellow operatives" laying the groundwork for the seamless cohesion and trust that would be vital in the trials ahead. As the evaluation loomed on the horizon, he steeled himself for the tests that awaited, ready to demonstrate his abilities.

PROJECT: INFERNO,
STARDATE: 052225.

Boots clacked along the stainless, polished surface of a military institute which survived the tumultuous era of the Empire of the Lost. Cholganna still persisted in it's state of freedom-- it's decay-- as fourteen other worlds, encompassing five star sectors, were taken swiftly by the banded remnants of past orders and administrations into The Imperial Confederation. Velcarin suspected, given the formation of PROJECT: INFERNO and the proximity of this planet to the other worlds taken in the new Imperial Occupation, that it would be the next to fall.

Velcarin was not an applicant or designated member of this new so-called 'Inferno Squad'. As a member of The Inquisitorious she had responsibilities elsewhere and work to do that others wish that they would not. But with the Confederation still in it's infancy, with it's work-force sparse and acts of consolidation, recruitment or expansion still in their early stages, she was here to provide security and oversight on behalf of one of the more darker organisations in the new faction. At least that was the official reasoning for her presence here.

She suspected, however, that there were some politics in play. While The Grand Inquisitor had yet to be replaced following the tragic death of Meredith Rayner, there were others among the upper echelons of the new Imperial state who may have distrust for the likes of Marlon Sularen Marlon Sularen and the rumours that the alleged HEIR TO THE EMPIRE had roots planted all across the galaxy that were yet to be shared with his new allies, associates and adversaries found in the three Imperial states of the Confederation.

Her presence among the polished, pristine halls of this military installation-- built on Cholganna among the forests which covered most of the world,-- was a reminder that while the expats of Dark-Imperial bloc had been accepted into the new Imperial state there was still an element of mistrust given the differences in politics and constitution between those of the Empire Reborn to the likes of the Imperial Sector Authority and perhaps even the Risen Empire. While Chologanna was not yet taken in the new Imperial Occupation it's close proximity to Imperial space meant that even here, away from the regimented systems of the Confederation, it's hand could still be felt on the shoulder of even it's most powerful and strongest leaders as Sularen put into motion the creation of a new unit on this day of days.

Dark-Imperial... ISA... Risen-Imperial. Expats of the so-called 'Lost' and their fallen Empire from Lianna. NEOCONS-- relics-- that was left behind from the old days of the First Order and New Imperial Order. Velcarin held no real political opinions or perspectives on philosophy when it came to the Imperial states of the Confederation and it's many members whom some of which had served in many administrations that had risen and fallen over the past half-a-century.

Velcarin was not afforded the luxury of such things. A former Jedi turned Inquisitor-- taken from Nespis VIII during the fall of the Empire of the Lost as an unwitting victim of the Trigonus Report-- Velcarin was only designated to serve. Not to think critically of her superiors or new comrades. She quietly understood why she was now patrolling the hallways of this facility but in the matter of whether she cared about it or not was something else which felt elusive and beyond her means of apathy. . .

The shuttle doors hissed open and a towering silhouette ducked low beneath the frame. Dieter's heavy boots landed on the metal floor with a solid thump, echoing in the silence as he emerged from the dim lights of the shuttle's interior. The rear ramp lowered with a soft whine, and without urgency, he strolled toward the back to collect his things.

His powered armor, bulky, white with blue markings, and scuffed from recent action, lay neatly atop a reinforced transport cart. The scorches and gouges along its shoulder plating told stories of high-velocity slugs and near-lethal engagements. Flanking the armor were two large crates, their durasteel lids marked with security seals and personal insignia. One held his blasters; the other held his blade.

With practiced ease, Dieter nudged the cart forward, the repulsors taking on most of the weight as he pushed it through the sliding doors into the central holding area. The room was already buzzing with movement and quiet conversation, other applicants milling about, sizing each other up, some casual, others tense.

Even hunched slightly, Dieter still stood a full head taller than most of the crowd. His broad Atoan frame, 6'10" of scarred muscle and iron calm, drew a few glances, but none met his eyes for long. He maneuvered the cart into a corner near a maintenance console, where it would stay visible but undisturbed, then stepped into the center of the room.

As he reached into one of his belt pouches, fingers rummaging for something familiar, his shoulder clipped another applicant. The jolt was minor, but enough to make him pause and glance down.

"Oh sorry, friend," Dieter said, his voice deep and gravelly, tinged with the heavy cadence of a rough Atoan accent. He looked down at Devang Talstan Devang Talstan with a slight smile creasing the corners of his weathered face. "I should be watching where going, not digging in belt like idiot. But—hah—I was trying to get this."

He pulled a half-burnt ciggara from the pouch, the paper torn slightly but still serviceable, and wedged it between his lips. The smell of it: spiced, earthy, carried faint memories of far colder places. He didn't light it yet, but placed it in the corner of his mouth.

With a grunt, he extended his hand, calloused, and firm as a bulkhead door. "My name is Dieter," he said. "But most friends, they call me Breaker. Or Tiny." He chuckled, the sound low and dry. "You choose your pick, da?"

Devang Talstan looked up at the towering figure before him careful not to blind himself by staring at the fluorescent lighting standard in most Imperial facilities. Straining to meeting his gaze he sensed rugged experience and unspoken tales etched in the lines of his face.

"No harm done, dont worry about it friend" Returning the firm handshake with a grip of not so equal strength, Devang introduced himself, "Devang Talstan, pleased to meet you Dieter" The corners of his lips lifted in a friendly smile, As the scent of the spiced ciggara wafted through the air he says "breaker seems fitting, almost broke my hand there" he laughs, Devang gestured toward the bustling room, "Quite the gathering here today, seems we're in for an interesting evaluation. Have you been through something like this before?" His tone was casual yet there was an underlining sense of excitement in his voice wondering what exactly might unfold today.

Saltare stood amidst this installation, drinking in the high walls and pristine Imperial edges. The sharp, brutal edges, indicative of the Imperial design, stood out, protruding sharply from this world, daring anyone to try to lessen its stature.

Cholganna.

Saltare had never been here. He'd never even heard of it. But Marlon Sularen Marlon Sularen had issued a directive calling for people to come, so he had come. Beth and Logan had heard whispers and passed him information regarding a PROJECT:INFERNO, which Saltare knew was undoubtedly involved with why he was here. There wasn't much information regarding it yet, but Saltare was unsure of the direction in which the Commander would take this new project.

It didn't sit well with him. If Marlon Sularen Marlon Sularen attempted to rebuild Inferno from these newcomers, Saltare was unsure if he would accept the offer if given the choice. He would not abandon his comrades from the original Inferno Squad for another unit. He didn't know if that was why he was here or even what PROJECT:INFERNO really was, but he was skeptical, to say the least.

Saltare continued to walk the corridors until he reached the simulation chambers and saw several other members milling around and talking. Saltare appeared busy as he entered the chambers and picked an area to check his gear, reviewing his armor and weapons and doing last-minute checks to ensure everything was green.

As he did this, he glanced over these unknown soldiers, watching how they moved, spoke, and looked. Saltare knew none of them and bided his time as he entered the gathering, watching and observing for now; he would get acquainted when the need arose.

Supreme Commander Marlon Sularen entered the observation chamber that overlooked the simulation, flanked by two of his closest subordinates : ISS Overseer Rackham Rackham and the Special Forces Operative Joseph Torson Joseph Torson . Today was an important day for the Supreme Commander, as he finally had the opportunity to properly assemble his envisioned hybrid Starfighter/Commando Special Forces Unit that he had sought to create since the days of the Second Great Hyperspace War. However he first needed to test their skills and abilities in combat and see how well they could perform as a unit as he sought to perfect Project Inferno before unleashing them upon his enemies.

"Are the operatives ready?" Sularen inquired as he turned his head towards Rackham. "Talstan, Kovasch and Dothon are present although Cowl and Vechin appear to be running late." Rackham responded. "I would still suggest beginning the test now. We already have enough candidates with the three operatives alone." he added. "Let's wait a bit for Cowl and Vechin's arrival. I would be rude to start the test without them." Sularen responded. "In the meantime, send instructions to the operatives that are present to enter the simulation chamber. I would like to get them briefed on the task at hand." Sularen ordered.

Rackham simply nodded and walked towards a nearby console and pressed a button activating the intercom. Soon, the operatives that were waiting in the assembly area would hear an announcement with the following instructions. "ALL OPERATIVES PLEASE REPORT TO THE SIMULATION CHAMBER IMMEDIATELY. I REPEAT ALL OPERATIVES PLEASE REPORT TO THE SIMULATION CHAMBER IMMEDIATELY. THANK YOU". Once the announcement finished, the doors leading to the simulation chamber opened up right in front of the gathered operatives, giving them access to the large simulation chamber that would be the staging ground for their first test.

The stage was set for the grand rehearsal and now all that was left was to see how well these operatives would perform on this mock battlefield.

Dieter chuckled at Devang's comment, shifting his ciggara from one side of his mouth to the other as the announcement rang out over the intercom, instructing all applicants to proceed to the simulation chamber.

He glanced down at Devang and replied with a grin, "Da, tovarisch, quite the gathering, yes. And you are right, evaluation like this? Always mean someone wants to see if we break. Hah! But no, I've not been through similar before. I've been in tough situations, but no evals."

With that, he offered a friendly nod. "Now, I must go get my toys. We see who breaks, eh?"

He plucked the ciggara from his mouth and inhaled a deep breath of it through his nose; he hadn't even gotten the chance to light it. He turned and strode back across the chamber toward the corner where his cart hovered, moving with a mix of weight and purpose.

Gripping the cart's handle, he moved it behind the other applicants, its repulsorlifts humming gently as he entered the simulation chamber. Once inside, Dieter locked the cart in place and began putting on his powered armor, its blue command markings shimmering in the light, marred only by the dents and scuffs earned in live combat. Despite its size, he had modified it to be equipable by the user.

Piece by piece, he began to strap on each part; the hiss of magnetic seals and servo-assists filled the chamber as each part locked in place. He left his helmet clipped to his belt for now. With his armor secured, he moved onto the weapon crates. In one, his assault rifle sat heavy and sturdy, while in the other, his vibrosword sat lightly and with finesse. He checked both of them for functionality, making sure everything was green-to-go.

He grunted with satisfaction, "Good." He rolled his shoulders back, to which the armor responded smoothly. Then, with the calm readiness of a veteran, he stepped into formation with the rest of the applicants, ready for whatever the evaluators had planned.

Velcarin folded the hem of her cape onto her arm while she carried her helmet in the other as she traversed the walkways of the facility to escort the three applicants into the testing area. She paid them no mind as she walked in tow with them into the facility. Her vacant stare surveyed the area quietly while she walked. Always looking for the threat was the antitheist of her former life as a Jedi. Of course she had always possessed the inert ability to tell the difference between threats, given her latent abilities in the Force, but before then-- before Nespis-- she had been taught to trust in others. Not anymore, she feared.

It was not the same now that she lived as an Inquisitor. Trust was for the weak. There was only the command and insatiable pull to fulfil her duty. As she walked in tow with the large Paragon known as Kovasch before walking out of the training area to take a new vantage point which would overlook the simulation, Velcarin tried to put aside the conflicting thoughts of the past with the present. They had beaten it out of her-- quite literally-- but even in those moments of quietness, where duty took her to places of solitude even amongst those that offered comradery, she felt torn.

There was a time in her life where the likes of Marlon Sularen were her enemies, and although they had never crossed paths in THE SECOND GREAT HYPERSPACE WAR, the man embodied everything that she had once stood against. As a relic from a bygone era continued to carve up the galaxy in the present day-- soon to be with his dreaded INFERNO SQUAD-- a new face of the present day stood in focused solitude. She need only concentrate on protecting the LORD COMMANDER for now even a place such as this as a galaxy spun in turmoil unaware that one of it's chief villains was beginning again...

Hemor stood in the center of Bullfrog team nines stealth ship "Valor" as they traveled to Cholganna. The team was late due to finishing a difficult operation. The team of nine was down to seven, Fils was KIA by the artifact, and Karth was in the infirmary with two fractured arms and cracked ribs. Hemor his black Pantoran hair freshly cut looks at his team and cleared his throat "Alright team, we are going to show our training is heads above the other members of the confederations special forces. The ISA is counting on us. We will honor Fils, and trust in the med teams for Karths healing and return." The team all bowed their heads giving a moment of remembrance for their fallen member, most of them Pantoran.

The remaining time went past quickly as the team cleaned and checked their gear again. Over the ships speakers the pilot spoke "We are dropping out of hyperspace momentarily." Hemor stood in the cockpit as the blue and white streaks faded to show a large planet. The Valor descends quickly to the designated zone.

Bullfrog Team Nine quickly made it to the gathering area, checking in with a data chip of allowable information as to why they were "late" to the start of this gathering. Hemor collected the information that was needed before the whole team looked at each other and talked in their internal comms. Anyone nearby just sees a silent exchange.

What was next was yet to be seen.

The MIN Fool's Errand lurched out of hyperspace, directly orbiting the planet Cholganna. A Nebulon Fire-class Light Carrier, the Fool's Errand was an amalgamation of three different classes of ship: a Nebulon B2 Frigate, a Quasar Fire-class Cruiser Carrier and an Acclamator-class Assault Ship. Constructed out of sheer necessity, the Nebulon Fire-class Light Carrier was intended to augment the Mahporeeem Imperial Navy's admittedly small but still potent fleet of starships and capital ships. This particular vessel had been tasked with delivering Captain Ronhar Tane and his squad of Storm Commandos to Cholganna, to participate in some sort of special training exercise. As a relatively new addition to the Imperial Confederation, Ronhar was determined to make his mark on the training exercise, and to show off his skills and abilities to both his superiors and his peers.

Unfortunately for him, he was already making a poor impression with his lateness. A hyperdrive malfunction had caused the Fool's Errand to miscalculate the hyperspace jump, and when the ship reentered realspace, it did so right in the middle of a pirate ambush. Though certainly frustrating, Ronhar and the crew was able to get some practice in for the exercise as they slaughtered the pirates indiscriminately, destroying their fleet with extreme prejudice and inadvertently saving the pirate's intended target, a cargo ship, in the process. Thankful for being saved from certain death, the cargo ship had provided the Fool's Errand with the materials that it needed to repair the hyperdrive, and after a short delay, the ship was back on course and finally at its intended destination.

Before boarding the Lambda-class shuttle that would take him to the planet's surface, Ronhar double checked his loadout one last time. Normally, he would equip himself with his E-11D Blaster Carbine, but his weapon was currently undergoing maintenance. Instead, Ronhar decided to use his modified Mk III "Viper" Autoblaster, which was equipped with a targeting scope, a blast dampener and a particularly volatile blend of Tibanna Gas. This special concoction, which had been personally devised by Ronhar himself, dramatically increased both the power of the weapon's blaster bolts and rate at which the weapon overheated, though this was not especially problematic for someone was well trained as Ronhar was. Ronhar's secondary weapon was, of course, his trusty 434 "Deathhammer" Heavy Blaster Pistol, a weapon that rivaled blaster rifles in both power and recoil.

His armored consisted of his modified blast vest and Stormtrooper helmet, both fully coated in a layer of Reflec, along with his various armorweave storage pouches and bandoliers. He carried a number of stun grenades for nonlethal use and a vibroknife for close quarters combat.

Of course, Ronhar's most defining features were, naturally, his augmented cybernetic arms and legs, made out of a special durasteel composite blend. These artificial limbs were nearly indestructible, and far more protective than Ronhar's actual armor was. They greatly enhanced Ronhar's speed and strength, turning the man into a nearly unstoppable agent of destruction.

As Ronhar performed the final diagnostic checks on his cybernetic limbs, his helmet mounted comlink squawked a message in his ear:

"Captain Tane, we have been cleared to land at the training facility. Report to your shuttle at once."

Ronhar replied with an affirmative, and made his way to the awaiting Lambda shuttle. Most of his team was already on board, fully kitted out in their Storm Commando gear.

"Captain Tane, how nice of you to join us!", quipped Antomar Dramag, one of the squad's newest members. "I'm glad you could find the time to join us on this little adventure", he said sardonically, before getting an elbow to the chest from Pierdar Stopill, Ronhar's second in command.

"Shut it, Dramag!", Stopill hissed. "We have an officer on deck, show some respect!"

Ronhar stared daggers at Dramag through his helmet, and for a brief moment, he considered clocking him in his head, though he quickly dismissed the idea and turned to address Stopill.

"Sargent, are we prepared to depart?"
"Yes sir, the shuttle is fully prepped and awaiting your command."
"Very well. OMEGA SQUAD, MOVE OUT!"

Ronhar and his Storm Commandos boarded the shuttle and headed to the surface of Cholganna, where they landed at the training facility. After reporting in, Ronhar and his team immediately headed to the simulation chamber, ready to participate in whatever the organizers had planned for them, though Ronhar was unsure if only he or his entire team would be allowed in...

The speakers in the facility crackled to life, "ALL OPERATIVES PLEASE REPORT TO THE SIMULATION CHAMBER IMMEDIATELY. I REPEAT ALL OPERATIVES PLEASE REPORT TO THE SIMULATION CHAMBER IMMEDIATELY. THANK YOU."

Saltare stood and checked his HUD, making sure everything was in order. As he had been waiting for the next set of orders, new arrivals had landed. A tad bit late, but no less ready. He eyed them as they began to filter in, watching how they moved and responded to the atmosphere in the room.

They were commandos. But, it was still to be seen if they were veterans or newly placed in their positions.

Saltare was the only true member of the original Inferno squad present, and he would be damned if he let their reputation down here in this group of newcomers.

Saltare's boots were heavy as he filtered into the simulation room with the other commandos. He was quiet, but he was ready.
