ADVANCED SYSTEMS
STRENGTHS
  • Interdictor: At the expense of dedicated weapons, the Incapacitator possesses four Gravity Well Projectors that allow the ship to pull enemy ships out of hyperspace and prevent them from jumping in the first place. This makes it an essential part of any engagement to keep the enemy from retreating.
  • Speedy: Unlike its counterpart, the Eradicator, the Incapacitator is actually quite speedy for its size. Sith-Imperial naval architects discovered that by rearranging the vessel's power grids, they could significantly enhance the ship's engine output. It can quickly retreat from any unfavorable confrontation, though it has to disable its Gravity Wells in order to use its engines to their full potential.
  • Improved Defenses: Conversely, the Incapacitator retains the Eradicator's reinforced hull, defensive cannons, and sturdy shields; mainly to ensure that the interdictor can take its fair share of hits without immediately exploding into debris.
WEAKNESSES
  • Lightly Armed: Besides the defensive weaponry and the gravity well projectors, the Incapacitator doesn't possess much in the way of offensive firepower. However, it doesn't necessarily need to in order to fulfill its role as a support craft.
  • Bridge Tower: Both the Eradicator and Incapacitator use the same hull design, and thus both have the same style of bridge tower. Tall, exposed, and vulnerable. Imperial arrogance at its finest.
  • Rear Blind Spot: For the Incapacitator there isn't much weaponry forward and backward, but the stern of the ship still lacks even point-defense cannons which makes its rear still a perfect vector of attack for enemy vessels.
DESCRIPTION

Shortly after the creation of the Eradicator-class Heavy Cruiser, the shipwrights of the Sith Empire repurposed its hull for the creation of the Incapacitator, the first of a new class of interdiction cruisers previously unseen in the armadas of the Sith. They were visually identical save for the set of four Gravity Well Generator bulbs bulging out of the dorsal and ventral hull around the Incapacitator's bridge tower.

At the cost of the Eradicator's heavy weapons the Incapacitator could generate gravity wells that could mimic a large mass in space and thus restricted hyperspace travel, preventing any nearby vessels from engaging their hyperdrives and simultaneously forcing any passing ship in hyperspace into realspace. This significant addition allowed the cruiser to be placed along strategic hyperlanes within Imperial space, either to act as a checkpoint for through traffic or to blockade access to a particular system or sector.

Naturally these ships were made in smaller numbers than their more readily available cousins, and were considered strategically important enough to warrant a constant frigate and fighter escort wherever they went.
