In Times of Certain Danger [RR Jedi]

Long had it been since he had last set foot in a temple. Venturing to his home world had proved fruitless to him. He could not access it the way that his father had in the past. The Red Eye Armada was lost to him. Should he have landed he would not have found things as he would have preferred anyway. He was a wielder and wielders were not welcomed. Outcasts. Forsaken. The Lost of the lonely lands, a place where only the bravest ventured for most wielders eventually succumbed to madness anyway. No teaching, isolation, and power did not go well together. It would have been a terrible place for him.

He lamented the disappearance of his master, the Grandmaster. With her disappearance, the Jedi had gone. Korr had taken them to the Alliance, and perverted what they were meant to be. He had taken the Jedi and turned them into beasts of war, being who had perverted the lightside of the Force in the name of their crusade. No longer did the Jedi serve the light in the name of peace and serving the people of the Galaxy. They served themselves in the name of a government. It was wrong.

But there was always hope in the darkest of times.

So it was that he'd come to be told of the Republic once more gracing the galaxy with it's presence. He hadn't been overly fond of the Republic. Their pompous nature and attempt to completely control what the Jedi did had been part of their downfall. Not the ultimate cause, but certainly a contributing factor. As he'd heard it, this remnant of that Republic seemed to have established itself with the principles of non-interference, and treated the Jedi as private citizens rather than as a mobile arm of their military. He could see the wisdom in that. No red tape for them to deal with, and they could decide how best to serve.

So he arrived on Ciomia. It was a dangerous place, as he could clearly see. The storms played havoc with his transport, and he had to fight tooth and nail just to get someone to take him out beyond the city. Even then they wouldn't go the whole way and left him to wander on foot. Dangerous as that was, he managed, and eventually found his way to the temple, his pack slung over his shoulder, lance strapped that way, shield on his arm. It was the best way he had found to travel. He approached the entry, hidden as it was, and knocked.

Seamed as good a thing to do as any.

Lilla was coming to terms with the Temple on Ciomia. She knew there were plans to make it more…well…Jedi-like, but right now it felt like exactly what it was – the ruined insides of a wrecked ship. It’s only saving grace, as she saw it, was the fact that the wreckage was so old that in many ways there was now a balance between the natural and the fabricated.

And maybe, just maybe, that was a metaphor for the future, or even the present? The past was the past – and although it serves to remind Jedi of mistakes not to be repeated, in many ways it was little more than a rear-view mirror. It did not indicate the current terrain or the future path.

And the future was never fixed – and an over-reliance on technology was not something any organisation should fall foul of, especially one that was intrinsically linked to the Force.

So, the present was the logical place to be – in the here and now. Mindful of the future but not at the expense of the now.

And so, the more Lilla reflected on it, the more the site made sense. This was not the old Jedi Order, and certainly not the old Republic. Nor was it a new and shiny version of the past. It was an entirely pragmatic and grounded Order that served a government that believed, quite simply, in democracy.

Thus, she’d been drawn into the group of Jedi that planned the morphing of an abandoned metal shell into a Temple. One that would be created, she was now sure, by the blending of the two, not the eradication of either. There would be nods to other Temples – in particular Coruscant and Ossus – and areas that would be uniquely Ciomia.

The walk here was the first change. There was nowhere to land a ship, due to the challenges of nature – and that was a positive. The path to the site forced visitors to slow down and gave the Jedi time to reflect – in much the same way as the Crooked Way had on Ossus.

But Lilla was shaken from her meditation by the news they had a visitor. It was the Jedi’s temple, but in practice was not fully operational as an academy, so people knocking was not a common occurrence. An so she headed to the entrance – for given it was hidden, it was likely only a Jedi would have found it.

Alexandra always liked the forest far more than tech or a temple these days, after years of living in the woods back on her own home planet. Buildings felt claustrophobic to her at times and left her wanting to get out and run though the forests of the planet, to connect to the flow of life and to feel it run through her body when she separated herself from her body. Today was a bit more mundane though, just her walking through Ciomia's forest and thinking on her place here, not entirely used to being a jedi or around them yet.

Alexandra Feanor, Jedi Master. It sounded extremely weird to her and was confused how it came to this. She had at one time fought against the Jedi consistently, but over the years her methods had failed to create those who followed her way of thought. They took a far darker path than Alexandra wanted for her students, which left her with the failures of her past. She had figured joining the Jedi might stabilize her mind and her life.

And that is what brought her here to this planet, where she was walking and thinking on things. Her feet drifted over the ground and were bringing her back to the temple after a long day but as she got closer something was a bit different. The flow of the force had changed and she felt like something new had arrived on the planet, a change that wasn't dark or wrong, but still there. Her eyebrow raised slightly and she wondered what it was that she was feeling, her eyes focusing in on the temple's location that was currently hidden from her sight.

It wouldn't take her long to come into sight of the entrance, and even less time to see what she had felt. Her eyes focused in on the person and she scratched at the bridge of her nose before nodding with her head. A small white furred wolf would dart forward, a slight distraction that would jump onto the ruined form of the ship that made up the temple and ran across until it ended up coming infront of Barrien, the creature making what could be considered a smile as it rested in the place above the temple's door.

Soon Alexandra would come to follow it, but instead of coming infront of the man, she walked up behind him and inspected the man for a while as she came closer. He didn't seem to be a threat, and was certainly no dark being, that much she was certain of. The other questions she had would need to be answered by the man rather than by observation, so while Daeda moved to sit infront of the man, she came up behind him and tapped his shoulder.

"Wonderful weather, no?"

He hadn't waited long when he felt something approaching through the storm. Not a bad something. In fact, he was certain that it was a someone, but as he was currently sheltered from the storm where he stood, and not interested in venturing out further, he chose to pay no mind. Undoubtedly it was another Jedi spending some quality time in nature, which he had to admit felt kind of stupid to him given how dangerous it was out there, even for a Jedi. He'd only done it out of necessity.

It wasn't but moments after he felt it that a wolf appeared above the door, a big sloppy dogs grin plastered to his face. Barrien couldnt help but smile at that. He didn't have the affinity for animals that some people did, but that didn't mean he disliked them. He was actually rather fond of canines. There was something about their grace and motion which had always interested him. Plus they were excellent companions and always knew how to bring cheer to the downtrodden.

A moment after it appeared, a voice spoke behind him and he turned his eyes to fall upon the speaker.

"I am assuming you speaketh sarcasm," he said, some of the dialect of his home slipping through as it did from time to time. "Though it could be worse, I think."

It wasnt but a moment after he spoke that he heard the door to the temple opening, revealing a young woman of good stature. He could tell that she had strong training, and apparently a place of import within this band of Jedi, or at least the temple itself. He dipped his head in greeting to her and stepped aside so that she might see the other who had approached as well. It wasn't polite to stand in peoples way when it wasn't necessary.

"I bid you both fair greetings. I am Jedi Knight Barrien Siegfried, Baron of House Siegfried of Oaken Dawn, and student of former Grandmaster Corvus Raaf. I come seeking the Jedi once more."

Lilla felt as though they were trapping the newcomer in a pincer movement —she from one angle and Alexandra from another. It was certainly not their intention.

Lilla smiled as the man introduced himself. It was a welcoming smile and radiated warmth.

“Looking? Found someone you have, I would say?” she said, the humour no doubt wasted pretty much everyone, but she understood the joke, which was half of the battle.

She rearranged her face, to wipe the silly grin off her face and bowed formal. “Greetings,” she said, "And welcome to our Temple. You are welcome here as a guest or as a member of this Order. It is an interesting choice of accommodation for a Temple and could do with a bit of work here and there, but it’s the people that matter, not the structure, right?’

Lilla looked past the newcomer to Alexandra. “We’ll have to get a more absorbent door mat I think. Now, come in properly, both of you and let’s find ourselves a nice pot of tea to warm you through.”

Sitting in the pilot’s seat of The Talaria, Aten clasped onto the steering yolk with one hand while in the other he held up a datapad. In the viewscreen, before him, the lines began to form into spheres of light as with a violent jerk and the creaking of metal the refurbished ship shifted back to normal space. The safety harness became uncomfortably tight as Aten was pushed forward into it. The first time he’d been subject to the sensation the air had been knocked out of his lungs with how it caught him off guard. There wasn’t even a hitch in Aten’s breath now. The elderly YT-2000 had been on its last leg when Aten had practically begged his Master Kol if they could have it. Now… It was still on its last leg but the leg was a bit sturdier. Aten had nearly lost track of how many days they’d spent sputtering across the galaxy in the vessel. He and Kol had traveled many places, some in attempts to help civilizations and families torn apart by the ongoing war between the dark and light and other times bringing criminals to justice. Two years Aten had been under the tutelage of Master Kol, two years since the day the aging master had found Aten near lifeless beneath rubble. In those years Aten had honed some of his skills in the force and saber ability, however, he had never truly been a part of the Jedi. That is why he and his master were approaching the aquamarine orb that sat before the viewscreen.

On the datapad in his right hand, Aten read off the coordinates that they’d been given and what little information that had been provided. “Storms? How bad could they really be?” Aten asked aloud tossing the datapad into the copilots’ seat. His right hand grasping the steering yolk firmly Aten dived the ship towards the planet, once again there was the slight jerk and pressure on his chest as they penetrated the planet’s atmosphere but no sooner than it happened Aten found himself fighting against the controls. Leaning back Aten felt the ship being knocked to and fro by the wind, with each motion he pulled the controls in the opposite direction attempting to keep the ship balanced. The clouds surrounding the ship were a dark black, violet lighting jumped between the clouds quickly followed by a raucous explosion of sound that made the entire ship vibrate.

“Um…. Kol?” Aten called over the intercom hoping his master would wake from whatever trance or meditation he was in. Aten considered himself a talented pilot but not enough to fight such a storm in a ship as worn down as The Talaria. Gritting his teeth, and putting all his strength to the task, Aten pulled on the steering yolk pulling the vessel out of its nosedive and straightening it. Less than three meters of space was between them and the earth below. Reaching out Aten flipped the counter thrusters in an attempt to slow them down just a bit more. Preparing himself for the recoil of the vessel Aten soon realized there were none, looking at the displays it showed that the thrusters were inactive. “Well, Fu-“

Aten didn’t get the chance to finish the phrase as the bottom of the starship began to scrape against the ground jerking him around in his seat, dirt piled up on the viewscreen and after a few seconds, the ship came to a halt smoke filling the cockpit and stinging the young padawans eyes. “He’s never gonna let me live this one down.” Sighing Aten walked to the back of the vessel slapping his hand on the cargo bay hatch allowing light now into the dark interior. Not too far in the distance Aten could see the gleam of sunlight off the dulled and rusted metal of the ship they were looking for. Fist hammering on the ship. “Master we’re here!”

Alexandra watched as the door opened and smiled a bit more widely, happy to see someone that Alexandra knew quite well in the recent weeks. She hadn't gotten to get a good conversation in with the woman but from what Alexandra had gathered, she was someone that Alexandra would have no problems with. A great deal of jedi made her antsy and uncomfortable around, those that thought her to be too unorthodox for the order especially annoyed her as that echo chamber only clouds thought within the order.

She wouldn't advocate the use of the darkside, but going against doctrine isn't the same.

Either way that was neither here nor now, that thought nothing more than a distraction from the current scene infront of her. Barrien was interesting, already speaking in a tone and accent that is altogether strange to her but after living in the galaxy for as long as she had, it wasn't hard to follow along,

The greetings came first, and she let them go first when it came to that. There was Lilla who introduced herself, the name was already know but her introduction was a bit more worded than Alexandra thought necessary. Small talk wasn't good for her, far from it as she had issues with talking to people idly. It was quickly followed by the joke, her being a inadequate doormat. Alexandra couldn't help but smile at that, knowing it was pretty true how she tended to greet people.

Then Barrien's introduction, which was quick and to the point. She liked that and could appreciate it well enough.

It was her turn now and she smiled at the two of them, letting the small Ashlan wolf jump onto her shoulder as she moved around Barrien and stood next to the temple, looking at the two with soft eyes. "A pleasure to meet you Barrien, I am Alexandra Feanor. I don't get to meet many of those here and appreciate being able to meet you. I hope you find our home to be yours quickly, if you are intending to stay that is."

She smiled at him once more before her eyes twitched and turned to the side, feeling the flow of the force become disrupted once more. The forest is hurt, and she could feel it quite well, curious what had happened and curious to find out the cause for the change in the flow of the force. Her hands crossed behind her body as she continued to look in that direction for a few moments longer before finally speaking up. \

"Lilla, if you do not mind showing our friend here around, I have to check on something."

The woman would turn her head back to Lilla, hoping the woman would understand.

Lilla sensed a disturbance. It was minor, but one of her brows wrinkled to reflect what her mind was thinking. Today was going to be a day for visitors – and maybe some gardening!

Lilla nodded politely as Alexandra at once introduced herself and departed. They’d sensed the same thing. The benefit of such a secret location is that it attracted few visitors. This meant the order of things was stable. It did not take much to throw that out of kilter and whoever had caused that ripple in the Force? Well, Lilla expected Alexandra would find out who dropped the pebble.

So the recently knighted Jedi turned her attention back to the newcomer. “Right…tea and a chance to dry off. And we’ll find somewhere for you to put your…lance is it? Can’t say I’ve seen one in action before. In fact,” she put a finger to her chin as they walked, “I don’t think I’ve seen one at all. What made you choose it? If you don’t mind me asking.”

Barrien hadn't quite sensed it so much as felt it. He was more in tune with how things moved than with how they grew. So while Alexandra ran off to investigate the crash, he looked off in that direction wondering what had caused the ground to shutter. In the storm there was certainly no way for him to make out that something had crashed in the forest. It felt more like an explosion to him. Then again, a random explosion wouldn't exactly be normal in the woods, and given the ship the temple resided in, crashed ships were probably abundant.

He turned back to the other Jedi and then stepped inside the temple. Getting out of the weather was a welcome reprieve, though growing up as he had made him more than accustomed to doing things in the rain. The Empire wasn't keen on allowing days off just because of weather, and he lost track of thr number of times he had rushed to fires caused by lightning strikes. It was a common occurence.

"Thank you," he said as he took a look atound the Temples entrance hall.

It really was an interesting choice for a Jedi temple. A guant crashed ship that was partly reclaimed by the forest seemed an odd choice. On the other hand, the storms made it a good place for them to hide away out of people's sight, and allowed them to study in solitude. Plus, for those nature loving types it was probably a utopia. For him it was just a new home in another strange place.

When she asked about his lance, he pulled it free and held it out for her to take and inspect if she wished.

"On Oaken Dawn we do not have the level of technology that you do. The remnant of the Empire that resides there keeps it so. We wear armor and have lands, and pikes are a traditional weapon type, though many prefer the sword. I like the pike because I don't always have to worry about it being deadly. Unactivated it acts more like a staff."

Lilla listened as they walked. Often newcomers would be nervous and getting them on a safe subject was often a useful tactic to put people at ease. Although, to be fair, that was more often the case with Padawans and Younglings.

Barrien seemed comfortable around them and took the odd surroundings in his stride. Maybe because there was something for everyone here - and in part because nothing was pristine and perfect and so there was less pressure to behave in a certain way. Lilla had visited temples, academies and other Jedi buildings where they felt more like a church than a school - which is what she viewed their temple as. Yes, it was in many ways a headquarters, but principally it was a place of reflection and learning - which suited Lilla very much.

"Technology can be overrated," LIlla said, unsure if he saw that as a positive or a negative. "I wear robes and carry a saber. No special armour or fancy gadgets - at least not yet. A space ship is my only nod to significant technology, getting around the galaxy as fast as possible is not a luxury, it's a necessity."

"So tell me, why do you seek Jedi?"

Trails of sweat fell in jagged lines across his forehead....almost at the beat of the hum frequent throughout the ship. The ridges in his forehead allow for the stress he encountered in his trance to come to the forefront. Situated in the center of the room, he collided with the durasteel floor awhile ago to try and center himself...

That task had been trying nowadays; those close to him knew first hand...

His mind drifted into the empyrean; where his memories collided with the varying aspects of the Force.

He suffered in silence and cold sweat while a familiar voice scream through his head; the one of a young boy.

Soon it...it transformed and sounded much like his own apprentice Aten.

"Kol!"

"Kol!"

"Kol!"

His eyes broke open, the dim lighting bouncing off his own brown eyes. "Uhm...Kol"

Turbulence

.......

His figure cut through the smoke, but a twinge in his eyes; you could barely see the iris in his eye.

He glared at his apprentice, followed by a low raspy grumble. "...blasted boy. You just got this thing...."

He gestured with his head, breaking eye contact with his Padawan. "Grab your things...lets move."

Standing outside the ship taking in the scent of the surrounding plains, Aten felt calm despite the recent crash landing. Looking back at the refurbished YT-2000, Aten surveyed the damage. The hull of the ship was dented, scratched and sported enough carbon scoring to make one think it had seen every battle within the past twenty years. It was only by the will of the force that the vessel had managed to hold itself together and supreme craftsmanship of course. Hearing the heavy footfalls coming from within the vessel Aten’s head lowered, hands on his waist. He was ready for the scolding and as he looked up his eyes meeting the individual that stood an entire head taller than himself. Aten’s master wasn’t what one thought of when they first hear of Jedi Masters, the expectation is usually a calm, centered individual. Yet since the day, Aten had met Master Varad all the assumptions and beliefs he had about the Jedi had been changed. Even then Aten wouldn’t trade his master for another.

“I know we just got it, but before we even set off to come here I said I wasn’t finished with the repairs!” Aten whined trying to defend himself. “Though… I may have been a bit too overconfident when combating the storm. I should’ve called you earlier.” Eyes glancing away and to the soft earth below Aten tried not to think about just how long they could end up stranded on this planet it would take days if not weeks of repairs to get the vessel fly worthy again. Aten’s cheeks flushed with embarrassment and his ears burned as he waited for the rest of the scolding but none came. Instead, the command to grab his things came.

“Yes, Master Varad.” Entering the vessel, the smoke once again stinging his eyes, Aten moved through the frigate his hand pressed against the walls to guide him once more to the cockpit where he grabbed a bag filled with rations, changes of clothes and the common hygienic supplies one would need to care for oneself. Once again exiting the vessel Aten felt the rain grow heavier, his blonde hair matting down. “Out of all the times to not wear those robes…” Aten said a hand reaching up and slicking his hair back and away from his face. Instead of the typical jedi robes Aten had settled for a coat golden in color, a black undershirt and matching pants.

"I don't know if you consider my armor fancy or not. I consider it more practical," he said, tapping against the plates.

The temple seemed a little quiet to him. He was used to seeing a rather high number of Jedi filtering around and about, but this place seemed much calmer. Perhaps the fact that there were so many different Orders now was the reason for the lack of bustling activity. The Jedi were so divided, and they all had their way about things. Some were more militant than others. He had heard that the Republic Jedi were a bit more mild mannered than the rest, though.

He returned his lance to where it had come from and turned his attention back to her. They hadn't met before that day, so he was pretty sure she hadn't been a part of the Council back in the Galactic Republic days. Perhaps she wasn't biased against them either. Time and conversation would tell if that was the case. Bith of which they had plenty of.

"My home is with the Jedi. On Oaken Dawn I would be an outcast if others knew what I was. Thus, I have resigned myself to following in my fathers footsteps. Though I do not believe this to be a bad thing. There are plenty of people in the galaxy who need help. I came here because I had heard that this Republic was not trying to control us."

A passing youngster caught his eye and he smiled his way before turning back to Lilla.

"Is that the case?

Lilla smiled. “If it serves the purpose it was designed for, then it is, broadly speaking, not fancy in my book. My robes,” she plucked at her cloak as she spoke, “Are a good example. They keep me safe from the elements. They have no special qualities – no resistance to anything Force related, no unexpected features. Much like your armour I suspect. Entirely practical and nobody needs to have any attributes explained to them.”

Lilla listened and replied quickly, there was no need to be careful about her response, she simply shared what she’d seen and experienced.

“I would be disappointed if any Order allowed itself to be controlled. We serve of course, but that’s not the same thing – at least not as I see it. As I see my role as a Jedi, I follow the Code – it’s not any more complicated or clever than that. If the Republic needed me to serve them and go against the Code, I simply would not do it. Yes, I believe in democracy – but I do not have an affinity for results that come at any price.”

“Would that stop me being a Jedi? No. I would remain a Jedi, but would reconsider my role as a servant of the Republic. Does that suit every Jedi? From what I have seen, I don’t believe so. Some believe their role is to make the sort of decisions that governments would in my understanding. Others wish to be warriors, that happen to use the Force. Do either of these viewpoints fit into my definition of a Jedi? No. Does that make me right and them wrong? Similarly, no. The Code had changed over the millennia.”

“I know which version I adhere to and I am faithful to it. It’s like saying one saber style is the absolute best. You know what works for you and accept the strengths that are in accord with your own gifts.”

“Do I believe in the Code that I follow? Absolutely, and I don’t look to sway based upon my needs or wants. I follow the traditional Code. Almost all of it is not negotiable in my opinion. Maybe a handful are debatable – having attachments, material wealth – these sort of things are not central to the tenets. To be honest, I am traditional here too. But that’s my way of being, and not one I would ever dictate another Jedi follows. But I would explain why they were considered an extended part of the Code, so anyone who chooses to act differently is clear as to the potential pitfalls.”

“So, given your armour, what is your view on life as a Jedi? What’s your philosophy.”

He listened to what she had to say and he was pleased with what he heard even though he didn't really have a right to be. She was not his student and he couldn't grade her based on what she said. It was more that he approved of her way of thinking and the fact that it seemed this iteration of the Republic had its head screwed on more squarely than its predecessor. Considering he had seen how it had failed, he was glad that this time things seemed a bit different.

She asked about his armor and his way of thinking, but before answering he motioned to a bench off to the side. He figured if they were going to talk then they should move away from the door and take a seat. Walking over, he slipped his pack and lance off, setting them beside the bench to lean against the wall. Then he settled in.

"Where I come from, the Jedi and Sith were believed to be equally bad, just for different reasons. The Empire instilled this in us when they came. I grew up knowing my father had been a Jedi Master that snuck onto the world, impregnated my mother, and then left. Don't take that the wrong way. He and my mither just had what you might call a fling, I think. He had no idea that she had gotten pregnant as a result and ahe had no way of telling him.

"I digress, though. When I left my world I discovered that these notions of the evils of both sides weren't far off, though solely because of the nature of some people purporting to be Jedi. Sith are evil. Their code mandates they be evil, more or less. The Jedi are meant to be good, but as imperfect beings we sometimes fail to live up to the standards we have set for ourselves. It's not uncommon for Jedi to become just as bad as Sith. Even my father has at times been this way.

"When I met Grandmaster Raaf I saw what we were supposed to be. She trained me and I brcame an astute pupil of her philosophy of being the Jedi we should be. I am not perfect, of course, but I try. In ancient times Jedi were broken into classes. I would be what you would call a Guardian. I specialize in combat, but I dont really fit into the specialties associated eith the Guardians. I fit a different role, that of the Protector. In a sense it would be similar to the Peacekeepers, but while I do help the local police forces, my focus is more on protecting the civilians than in hunting down bad people.

"My armor serves to protect me while I serve to protect them."

Lilla took deep and serious conversations in her stride – as happy to engage in a serious debate on an interpretation of the Code whilst exercising on a treadmill as in a classroom. But she also knew others preferred to sit and talk – and so took Barrien’s lead and wandered over to the bench and sat – and listened.

It was in a sense odd to hear that the Jedi and Sith were considered equal in an entirely negative context – but it was not the first time Lilla had heard this. There were so many variations of Jedi Orders and individuals, that some would be considered some way short of good.

And even the ancient Order itself – back in a time when there was only one – was not above reproach. The genocide of the Vahla was a dark time for the Jedi.

“I have not been a Jedi for so long, but one thing that I believe is core to my beliefs is a capacity for tolerance. I am clear in my own mind about what constitutes acceptable behaviour. But I will not judge others. I may remind individuals about the core aspects of the Code, but not to find them wanting – but rather to remind them of the written word.”

“My master encouraged me to perform all Jedi roles, in order to choose one once I became a knight. I chose, initially, to train Padawans. In time, I may become a Warden, or Ranger. But who know what might happen before then?”

“So, is there anything specific I can show you?”

Alexandra Feanor

The Lady in Silver/Grey Historian
Alexandra patiently waited for the two to leave from eyesight before letting her body shift and modify it's stance, dropping to the ground as it shuddered. Her shoulder's popped and moved, dropping into a very inhuman location and her arms moving to fit the change. Her body shuddered as it shifted further internally and changed. Her illusion dropped as her white hair turned ebony black, eyes turned violet with dark rings around them from sleepless nights, and her tail became very much visible. She grinned and pulled the force in behind her feet and launched herself into a headlong sprint, taking only seconds to vanish from sight as she moved along the underbrush and followed the disturbance to its source, being fed information by the forest itself.

She had gotten good at using her Zorren body, especially in its more inhuman form, running on all fours and darting among trees or buildings while away from her home or the temples. Her smile grew wide as she enjoyed this sensation of the wind blasting past her and the forest speaking to her as she moved among its tall wooden towers. The problem was that she knew it would not end long, [member="Aten Ramses"] and [member="Kol Varad"] would likely sense her presence coming close and quick. She would not appear to them like this though, only using the inhuman form as a mode of transport, as she moved much quicker like this.

Once she was within a few hundred meters, and hidden by a hill that pushed up and covered her approach, she stopped and let her body readjust itself once more. Her form became more human, shoulders moving back into place, spine straightening out, and legs resuming the original positions that they had before. Her hand reached up and ran a hand through her hair, the strands turning white and silver once more, eyes returning to an icy blue, and tail disappearing from sight as she resumed the illusion she preferred to carry while around the Jedi. Her hands made sure that the sabers were still at her side and she reached down to let Daeda, her Ashlan companion, leave her clothing and disappear into the woods, operating as a second pair of senses that was far more tuned for observation.

She relaxed and touched the strings of life in the area, feeling them and smiling. Time to see what had caused the disruption in the flow of the force.

She started walking, moving towards what she could now see was wreckage and soon the sight of a man tipped her off that the crew had survived. She waited a moment, releasing her physical view of the world and closed her eyes, letting the force take over. There were two lifeforms, each seemed to be docile and not hostile or showing any darker emotions, and seemed to be moving in anticipation to leave. Maybe they mean to find help in fixing their ship?

She breathed out and let her vision return to a physical one, and moved behind a tree to look out and see how damaged the ship was. It didn't take long for the woman to realize it was not going anywhere, remembering her days when she made droids and craft for Taeli Raaf, and all the... jolts she got from crossing the wrong wires from time to time.

Well, time to say hi, they seemed like there was no danger about them.

"You two seem to be having a bad day, have you tried calling your insurance?" She moved out from her hidden place and smiled, crossing her arms behind her as she stood there in the same trousers and shirt that she had been wearing before, both soft grey in color and at her side rested two sabers. In her hand once more was the same collapsible staff, that she now used to lean on as it was extended to its full length. She looked more like a padawan than anything else, both due to the appearance of her age and her clothing, but she did not feel like one in the least if her signature in the force was prodded at.

"That is a trying task," Barrien said, chuckling. "I had an apprentice once. It was a very difficult thing."

He wondered what had become of the girl. So long had it been since he had seen her, it seemed likely that she had finished her training and moved on. That would be for the best. He just wasn't really cut out for teaching anyone alone. No, he had done best when he wastrying to teach people saber skills or the philosophy that he held of what the Jedi were and what they were supposed to be. It was easier to teach a group than an individual. Groups seemed to listen better.

"Is there anything in particular that you think I should see? I know this temple is not as traditional as some, which is actually nice, but I'm not really sure what that means."

To be honest, he just needed to get brouggt up to speed on what was going on. He had been away long enough that he didn't feel comfortable just jumping into temple life.

"Probably also where the living quarters are. Might be useful."

“Trying? Difficult? Let’s be honest, were we any different ourselves as Padawans? I want to be the best teacher I can, but suspect I’m exactly the sort of instructor I had, when I came here.” There was a wry smile on her face.

Lilla shifted on the bench slightly, to get more comfortable.

“Yes, this temple is not precisely traditional in terms of construction — but it has everything you would expect to find, so in that regard it is entirely standard. Which may disappoint? So, we have nothing obvious to see that is out of the ordinary. Classrooms, dormitories, labs, a refectory, a gym — the usual stuff.”

Lilla produced a small flimsi from her pocket. It was a map of the Temple and folded out, each flap a different floor or section of the ship.

“Living quarters are…here,” she said, and indicated them with her finger on the map. "I’ll take you there…follow me.”

"I was an older padawan so I doubt I was as difficult as the younger ones," he said before giving a chuckle. "I had lots of questions, though."

She went on to explain the intricacies of the temple and he nodded as he listened to her. Not much of a difference, according to her, between this temple and others. He imagined there was some difference given that the place was an overgrown starship. Undoubtedly there were nooks and crannies that hadn't even been explored by the younger students as of yet. There was also the matter of death that came with fallen ships. There were probably still some skeletons in the closet.

That would be something to work on figuring out at a later time, though. Places wrought with Force activity that experienced desth tended to develop negative consequences. He had his concerns about the temple, but until something happened because of it, he wasn't going to make a big deal over it. Besides, there were more important matters to tend to. Like following her to where he would be staying while he was there.

As he followed her, he made sure to watch where they were going. He wanted to make sure he got a good lay of the land.

"How many of us are there within the Republic? How many serve in their forces?"
