In The Aftermath Of Sociopaths

Copero City; Copero.
Complete and utter devastation.

Almost an entire city brought to ruins, the result of an uncontrolled, unhinged and completely overzealous military force from the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Entire city blocks reduced to charred rubble, disregard for civilian lives, a blatant act of callous and spiteful war-time criminality. Thousands upon thousands of corpses had been removed in the aftermath of the invasion of Copero, following the evacuation of the Jen'ari occupying force. So many were innocent, caught up in the fight that they didn't want part of, murdered by forces that had no self-control or restraint. Just pure destructive and pathetically narcissistic-focused rage, applied like a blanket to a population of people amid their own civil war, in order to enact some barely conceivable - or even remotely relevant - attack on another Empire. When had these forces even interacted? When had such hatred spouted from previous engagements and acts of war? It was almost like the attack was little more than a knee-jerk reaction to some unquantifiable slight the Confederacy felt from the Jen'ari.

Unfeeling sociopaths, much like their droids, it seemed.

Each and every one of the Confederacy seemingly incapable of basic sentient feelings, such as empathy, regret, and remorse. Clearly, the Confederacy military and leadership had stunted emotional and maturity growth themselves, remaining ignorant to the plight of innocent men, women and children who did not accept the Jen'ari as their rulers. There were numerous holovids, security footage, personal recordings; they showed the tactical skill and power of the mighty Confederacy against the old, the infantile, the fleeing and the inculpable... oh how impressive their armies were, their Generals and Commanders of Murder.

One particularly callous act was the completely intentional destruction of a hospital filled with Chiss in varying states of health while also housing those that were fleeing the battle. That particular display of war crime would be thoroughly investigated.

Meanwhile, the Jen'ari who had forced their boot upon the necks of millions of disagreeing Chiss, simply left. The carnage sustained, but the effects forgotten, because they no longer had use for the planet. Those who were responsible, the Chiss ruling houses, had been dealt with. And yet, somehow, the Chiss still suffered the most for actions beyond their control. Perhaps it was a failure of government structure, or simply basic greed and lust for power, as the Ascendancy had been successful within itself for countless generations. The answer wasn't immediately apparent, not without considerable time spent to analyzing, however one thing remained clear:

No wonder the Confederacy didn't seek communication with the CEDF who stood against the Jen'ari, Mitth'orn'eruod thought. They simply didn't care. They merely wanted to react, without conscience or responsibility... what a plague they are. Each of them. Spiteful beings.

Even now, some months after the attack, the Admiral of the Second Fleet walked through the ruins of Copero City, his boots and pants covered in dust and particles. All around hundreds of thousands of Chiss worked, endlessly, to do what they could. The CEDF had blockaded the planet, while marines and vessels capable of atmospheric travel had begun assisting in rescue, clearing and rebuilding efforts. The Chiss were a logical, emotionally controlled, pragmatic people; and this was in full effect as portions of city were removed to ground-level, foundations laid bare, in order for reconstruction to begin. The dead, so many non-combatants, were put to rest as determined by wills and wishes of families that survived.

Those loyal to the Jen'ari had been removed, sent into exile. Others, the true Ascendancy, had volunteered assistance and support, opening homes and credits to those who had somehow survived, but were left with nothing. Families had been torn asunder, children had been burned by Confederacy soldiers in their apartments, one of the orbital shipyards had been destroyed, causing considerable damage to the atmosphere in that region of the planet. The fallout of such raining radiation and poisoning other innocents nowhere near the battle...

And there had been more personal losses, also.

Mitth'orn'eruod stopped at the location where his familial home had been. Now it was little more than debris and broken things. His immediate family had been killed, his mother and siblings in this very spot, his father in space on the shipyard. It was a difficult time for the Admiral, not least of all because of the controlled emotional responses, but also because of the ramifications his house would suffer. House Mitth had been working endlessly to earn their place in Chiss society since their downfall centuries ago. They had managed to maintain the ownership of the Copero shipyards, earning small influence through service to providing the Ascendancy with vessels for generations. He would also inherit the shipyards, as the remaining claimant of his father's house. Now, a large portion of that shipyard had been destroyed, of which Mitth'orn'eruod understood it had been a military-specific target, even he couldn't begrudge the Confederacy that... but this also meant considerable resources would be required to reestablish and rebuild, of which House Mitth would once again suffer a heavy cost to bear.

Not to mention the billions of credits it would take to rebuild the capital, support those injured and homeless, not to mention atmospheric cleaning efforts.

"This battle between the Jen'ari and the Confederacy has cost the Chiss far more than either side," Mitth'orn'eruod muttered, as he crouched down and took up a handful of powdered duracrete. His home, now, held like dust in his gloved hand. "They are cancerous parasites siphoning the life from those around them..."

Releasing the powder, Mitth'orn'eruod stood. He looked down at the destroyed foundation of his family home, out across the ruined city in a state of mid-repair. His crimson eyes narrowed, ablaze, as he gripped his hands at the small of his back, leather gloves threatening to split the seams around his palms.

There will be a reckoning.

But now, now it was time to help those that couldn't help themselves. Mitth'orn'eruod turned and walked toward some rescue workers, as he removed his gloves, rolled up his uniform sleeves and nodded...

"What can I do to help?"

She had come with aid, for empires allies the chiss ascendancy. The planet of Copero was utterly devastated by the CIS, this was how @darth taticus explained his all out war to her. She did not approve, it was effective for moment, but not long term. Now the people hated the CIS, and that was useful for her. So she had come with aid, not just to help the Chiss Ascendancy but herself as well. As if their was ill will here to exploit, she would consider doing it. As she not resolved the issues she has with [member="Adron Malvern"], so if there was a chance to get people on side for long term. She was up for that, as she wanted allies eternal.

She had come with food, droids and building materials, as well as gift of freighters she brought ten of them with her. They had everything in that Serenno could spare to help these people. This was in hopes to foster good relationship between her and Chiss. She waited to be given clearance to land, and who to meet.

CHISS SPACE

Copero City; Copero.

"Never in my time as a Black-Ops commander have I ordered the death of so many innocents. There were times where it was unavoidable. But this." As [member="Thorne"] had set out to work he'd find none other then the newly appointed Aristocra in commoner clothing toiling away with a sledge to break down an already destroyed wall. No, she shouldn't be here alone, but Dezoti couldn't sit idly back while the Chiss people, her people, worked themselves ragged to fix what had been so mercilessly destroyed.

"This is inexcusable." She of course, wasn't truly alone as she thought. Another figure stepped up beside her and gave a stiff salute. Well, so much for undercover assistance. The Chiss frowned at the man for a moment of awkward silence before waving a go ahead.

"A representative of the Sith Empire has entered orbit, waiting permission to land."

"I've no patience for outsiders. Admiral Mitth'Orn'Eruod, what do you think?" There was an anger in her tone as she glanced to the Admiral. It was easy for the outsiders to parade around their worlds and wreak havoc among her people. Even if the Empire was an ally, she truly had no desire to speak to them in this moment.

The Battle of Copero had left the Chiss world of House Mitth devastated beyond belief as the Confederacy of Independent Systems had not only taken out the Jen'ari Empire that were occupying the planet, but also the Chiss population without thoughtful discrimination between the civilians and military targets of the Tyrannical regime.

The reports that had crossed the recently promoted Chief Medical Officer's desk had not been frank enough. Only Brask'ari'sabosen's own eyes as she arrived ground side on one of the many transports and evac shuttles deployed with more assets from her flagship the CNS Vun'ruti stationed in orbit could bring the truth of the matter to bear for her.

The Battle Surgeon took a deep breath to calm the inner rage within herself before calling out orders for the medical personnel with her to begin setting up the additional CMSU or Cimsoo for short; to be fully operational within the hour. The state of the art mobile field hospital would be erected near where the previous hospital stood in the city center district as that building had been destroyed by CIS troops. Hundreds upon hundreds of patients as well as innocents seeking shelter inside from the raging battle outside had been killed and injured severely leaving many horrifically burned and maimed. It made the Sabosen sick to even think about, but one treated what conditions were put before them without question.

The Confederacy and/or individuals who sanctioned as well as carried out the horrendous act would have to be brought to justice for their war crimes committed no less. Hospitals like churches in civilized cultures were considered sanctuaries and/or off limits, therefore not to be targeted within fair rules of military engagement.

Obviously, CIS did not have a moral compass, and seemingly only cared about victory at any cost for their own glory and without thought for those that they were supposedly there to aid. This would not sit well with the Chiss Ascendancy. Actions had consequences. The Confederates chose poorly, and the Chiss had long memories.

This was not her homeworld, but Deanez was present regardless. What good the Intelligence operative was going to be, she did not know or understand. Her first steps off Csilla and they had brought her to Copero, a world attacked by the Confederacy. The people that had been their target had left the world behind in ruins and now it was up to them to pick up the broken pieces and recover.

Who was at fault here? Those that attacked or the ones that left the ruins in their wake of fleeing? In the young mind Deanez, she felt both were to blame. A day of reckoning would come, but not right now.

Now was the time to get her hands dirty and do some work to help. Perhaps this would open the door for her dreams. She wanted nothing more than to get better than her parents. They had disowned her when it was learned she could use the Force. Having prevailed and made it through some rough times, she was an accepted member of society and had a place among their numbers.

Following in the steps of Mith'orn'eroud, she waited silently for an answer. It was not her place to repeat his question and only waited for her orders to go out.

CHISS SPACE

Copero City; Copero.
"Aristocra Prusde'zoti'lore," The Admiral said in greeting. "I can accept the communication, yes. Forward it to my comlink."

The call came through on Mitth'orn'eruod's comlink, once it was rejected by Aristocra Prusde'zoti'lore. The Admiral nodded to the ex-Commando, before he activated the call and spoke in a low voice.

"Hangar control? Allow the Sith Empire entry," He said simply, wiping the sweat from his brow. "If our allies seek to assist in the Copero efforts, we won't turn them away. Admiral Mitth'orn'eroud out."

Despite the situation, and how much of an impact it had, there still remained alliances to watch over. The loss of Chiss life was inexcusable, but Mitth'orn'eroud still wanted to remain civil; the last thing his society needed was to begin returning to those isolationist mentalities, by shutting out the rest of the galaxy out of reflex to attack. It would only cause more issues in the long run and further confuse a people that were trying to adapt to more accepting views.

Still, there was work to be done. Nearby, dozens of Chiss used machinery and brute force to clear sections of debris, while rescue teams scoured any spaces they could fit to try and find survivors or remove the dead. It was a trying time for everyone, as a city unified in the effort of recovery, putting aside differences for the greater good.

"The military carelessness from the Confederacy is appalling," Mitth'orn'eroud said as he turned back to Prusde'zoti'lore, before he noticed another Chiss standing nearby. "Even though Governments are not the same, there tends to be universal agreement between rules of engagement and non-military collateral damage. Those two concepts were completely ignored here, the loss of innocent life... unacceptable, by every means."

Mitth'orn'eroud crouched down and tried to lift a duracrete section that had been toppled. It was a little too heavy. Looking up at the two Chiss nearby, both Prusde'zoti'lore and Tenge'deanez'zoza, the Admiral raised an eyebrow.

"Let us lift this together, there is much to be cleared away and rebuilt," He said, before smiling at the latter. "It is good to see you again, Tenge'deanez'zoza. Thank you for assisting. Have you been well?"

Mitth'orn'eroud wasn't usually one for small talk, but at this point it was a relief not to think about the destruction of his homeworlds capital...

The CMSU was set up and fully operational well within the one hour goal. There was motivation behind the Chiss Medical Corps to help their brothers and sisters of Copero in the devastating aftermath of the battle that was waged there so the extra effort was put into it. The devastation was horrific. Structures could be rebuilt, things could be replaced, though the loss of innocent life could not be brought back. Only through swift justice would their sacrifices be not in vane.

The Sabosen family was not the only one present to support those of House Mitth in their dire state of need. Other families were as well. Csapla had placed their food distribution center right next to the Cimsoo on a cleared spot as the Corps of Engineers did their best to facilitate that. Together they would see that the people of Copero were fed and cared for until they could do so for themselves. Portable housing too was being erected nearby for the homeless too, and an orphanage. So many children were killed outright, but just as many were left parentless.

Of course this was all temporary. The new Chiss Ascendancy would not settle for the upheaval to last for very long. Piece by piece, Copero City would be rebuilt quickly and even better than before. Chiss were a resilient people and most resourceful. Working as a team for the whole would see them through as it had time and time again through the millennia in the Unknown Regions. Nothing would best them for long especially if Admiral Mitth'orn'eruod had any say about it.

"Of course."

Giving a brief and serious nod, she moved to help lift the large section of duracrete. With the combined help, they were able to get it shifted to another location where it could be properly disposed of and recycled. What was currently destroyed, its pieces could be picked up, recycled and turned into something else. Some things would never quite be the same, but that was the fate of areas struck with conflict. That is exactly what happened here.

The people that lived here could only do so much on their own and now the Chiss were here to help complete what had been started.

"I have been doing well. Hoping to work more with you and gain more experience in life."

She wore the red that indicated she served in the military like any good Chiss would do. In that aspect, she had followed in her father's steps. In the end, her parents had disowned her all because she could use the Force. What minute ability she had was enough for them. Now all Deanez wanted to do was gain acceptance and grow beyond the desires they had for her originally.
