In Case of Emergency (Galactic Alliance Dominion of Thyferra)

[member="Nubica Felidae"] [member="Meeristali Peradun"]

Getting past the security - which was comprised of another two burly houk seemingly from the same mould and lump of muscle and gristle as the last – was relatively easy. The club was already heaving and it took them a few minutes to reach the bar, even with Jacen gently reaching out to those minds around him and coercing them to step aside.

“Over there,” Jacen whispered. The slightest brush of his mind – so that he wouldn’t have to point - would draw her line of sight to the tall man engaged in a drinking match off to one side. “With us,” he explained as they neared the bar.

Meeristali was the kind of man who intimidated his peers. Well over six foot, with a chiselled jaw line and stunning eyes. Jacen considered himself straight as an arrow, but he had to admit to himself, he probably would.

Finally they reached the bar. At least it was early enough that there wasn’t a crowd surrounding the bar to get through. Jacen got the attention of the bartender and ordered himself an ale and whatever Nubica wanted.

“This is to fit in,” he explained with raised eyebrows. “I’m drinking this to fit in and not a word to Rhen!” Turning around he leant back on the bar, eyes scanning for signs of their targets.

She’d been on enough missions to know something about protocol — but this was the first time in plain clothes. And to be honest, she found the jump-suit annoying. She’d spent more than half of her admittedly short life in robes.

So once he indicated the man in question, she didn’t instantly turn and look. Instead she kept doing what she was doing before finally checking him out. But given his antics, he was already drawing a lot of attention, so glancing over wasn’t going to tip anyone off.

She sensed the aura of the Light-side. There was a feint hint of recognition too. His face wasn’t mainstream and she was sure she’d seen him back on Ossus some time ago. And she was sure there was something she was supposed to remember about him. But she was pulled out of her thoughts by the task in hand.

And the concept of drinking. Because she didn’t. Hadn’t. Wasn’t allowed to given her age. But to order blue milk here was going to draw more attention than the drinking competition she’d just witnessed. And water would fare little better given the nature of the clientele.

So she quickly scanned the bottles in the chilled cabinet behind the bar

“A bottle of Admiral Akbar,” she said. The glass container was brown and nobody would be able to see if she’d taken a drink or not. She turned back to her associate and lowered her voice. “Rhen? I’ll remember that name. And I’m Nubica by the way.”

Jacen - you’re putting on a few extra pounds there…

“Have you not met Rhen?” he asked idly as he scanned the bar. There was security and then there was security. One group wore bright arm bands and watched the punters carefully. The other group was only marked out by their observant demeanour and the small bulges under their arms.

It looked like they were mostly gathered around a VIP mezzanine floor made of a transparent polymer and bathed in a red light. Very fancy, but it would also give then a good view of their gadgets when they entered the club. They would attempt to make the first arrest, whilst any others secured the location. There were squads of armed police just a few blocks away ready to finish the raid as soon as the signal was given.

“I'll just join you in pretending to drink then!” Jacen replied, before promptly downing half his glass of ale. With a military background he had a relatively relaxed attitude to underage drinking which sometimes chafed with his new role. He sighed, knowing he hadn't had a decent drinking session in years.

Felicity was scared. And she hated so much how foolishly frightened she was. Of herself, or her abilities. How stupid, to be afraid of herself all the time. She bit her lip and nodded in response. Jannik said there was only a tiny sliver of a chance she might trigger a vision. That was enough to still scare her though. Still, she had to take a risk. Star somewhere. She wasn't going to learn without trying.

"...Alright, I'm ready," she sighed, "How do I do it?"

That was the real trick. She really only knew a few skills, and most of those involved a lightsaber. Of course she was nervous.

Nubica felt like the new kid — the one that didn’t now half of what she was supposed to. But she wasn’t stupid with it, and invariably owned up to her shortcomings.

“No, can’t say I have.” He sounded like someone you would know if you’d met. She watched him as he scanned the bar. She temporarily closed her eyes — only for a second — and using Force Sense did a quick take on the area around them. Her range wasn’t great — a dozen feet or so in each direction — but she took in how many, who was carrying a firearm, and the fact that none were Force Sensitive.

She smiled at his joke. “That’s an impressive trick,” she said. “Looks just like you really drank it.” She nursed her bottle, occasionally putting it to her lips. Even just the hint of taste on her lips was bitter, but she refrained from pulling a face. She was not about to take a swig!

“So…first things first. What do you want me to do when it all happens?”

Aeron was never the sort to simply stand back and let the rest of the Pyre Forces have some fun. Granted, this was the same philosophy the former Lady Protector Cira and Prex had long ago - even if the majority of those who fought alongside her were not aware of it.

Fighting alongside her was Commander Mao, a Fierrero of good standing and fighting skills that could over look her Nar Shadaa guttermouth. Snarky and a smart ass, the tall exotic soidler would constantly be shadowed by her elite SpecOps forces. These boys were armed to the teeth and just as easy to lash out if provoked. It was only Mao who held them in line, her Second in Command holding up the rear. His name was Harlock, and Aeron never really did figure out where he came from. It didn’t matter. As long as he did the job, the forcer could do what he damn well pleased.

There was no judging of the past in the Pyre once one signed the dotted line to do their job.

The shuttle swooped through the atmosphere of Thyferra, clouds of white creating an iridescent condensation as it cut through them at full speed. She passed over grasslands, canyons and aqua clear rivers, their size growing larger by the second as the shuttle finally maneuvered her way towards their destination.

They had a lovely welcome waiting for them.

"Incoming fire!"

Both shuttles were now about to face troubles of their own. Although the Pyre forces managed to distract the majority of the fire from the shuttle, Hunt had to conduct a series of fast moves to try to avoid being hit by the spray of stray laser bolts. Key emphasis on the 'try' as another red bolt caused their shields to send vermillion tinted waves throughout it. Yet for her Zeltron pilot Deagan Hunt, the dire nature of their mission didn't seem to affect him as his voice dripped in arrogance.

"I am a leaf in the wind! Watch how I soar!"

The form that walked through the door behind Rook and his friend was something that rose out of a nightmare and was given twisted life. Into the room it strode, and in a guttural scream of power was poured it's obvious rage and anguish. Something was not right with it, at all, in any way. For starters, it moved inhumanly fast and beyond ken, like the storied Jedi, but any Force-sensitive would sense nothing where it stood. In terms of sheer size, it defied human proportions, being over seven feet tall or more, and broad of shoulder to the point that as it charged through the door-frame it dropped a shoulder and tore part of the jamb off it in splinters. The jamb was cheap durasteel bolted into wood, granted, but still... A spin to the right showed a fist shoot out from the oily, burnt rags covering it in the form of robes, shackles and broken chains clinking around it's wrists and ankles as it moved, the folded iron plain for all to see being forged beskar.

First target... Move... Engage and eliminate

The beast in rags' fist collided with the helmeted head of some mercenary in rough-shod armor and a clunk resounded as the blow dented the helmet and shattered the skull beneath it. Gore rained from the sudden pressure increase, and the recently-deceased corpse flew across the room, slamming into a wall and sliding down it, leaving a wet streak from it's ruined cranium, blood and vital tissue steadily dribbling through a ruined face. The ragged breathing of the thing increased as it turned again and this time reared back, spartan-kicking the stunned slaver in front of him, sending the man careening back. A table flipped as he hit it, cushioning his blow somewhat, but as it impacted the wall the wood splintered with an audible crack. The slaver, already doomed to die, gasped ragged breathes as his chest slowly filled with air and blood, suffocating him whilst he gaped and gupped like a fish out of water.

Next Target...

The one thing that comforted Kelghast these days was the fact that he had others to care about him, someone to remember his name. He wasn't just a loner without a cause, for he had the brotherhood of the Dreadguard to forever support his broken mind and his torn spirit. Part of him died back in the Netherworld, a part of him he'll never get back. He could tell by Rook's tone of voice that he was worried. Worrying only caused more problems than it fixed. Just like old times, Kelghast found himself at the side of his brethren charging into an open field of eager targets and gunfire. But something about that seemed a bit more dull now. Like less of a thrill and more of a routine that wouldn't change unless something was forced.

Rushing in behind Rook, they both sat behind cover with plasma chipping away at the numerous crates. The gunner was starting to truly irritate Kelghast, and he would demonstrate just what it meant to get on the nerves of a war machine. The slaves didn't matter at this point, there was a rage burning deep inside of the Dreadguard's heart that told him to kill without reason or thought. He wanted blood.

"I see it."

He stated monotonously.

With a quick gesture, Kelghast told Rook to push forward while he was to take care of the nuisance. Readying his assault rifle, the maddened soldier popped out of cover with shields online, he took quick aim and popped three-round bursts at a few of the hostiles. Blood sprayed against walls and crates, the gunner's head literally exploding from the high-impact. Kelghast didn't care that his shields were failing due to heavy fire, he wanted them all to die. He wanted to watch their world burn into ash.

The Netherworld's hold was tightening.

"Indeed!" he replied, as he watched very carefully as two more security guards came in. This was starting to get a little too dangerous. He hadn't expected things to play out this way when he'd agreed to having a seventeen year old along. There were a lot of civilians around, a bolt deflected in the wrong direction could be disastrous. "Not a word!" he added with a sly grin, masking his current concern.

“Fair point, that’s pretty fundamental as matters go. I’m going to go for a little chat. As I do so some friends will be arriving to keep the party safe. You keep your distance and play my wingman. Don’t let anyone take a run at me!” he said, having to raise his voice above the volume. Instead of communicating telepathically he simply used language that wouldn’t arouse suspicion. A good trick when you could do it right. Thinking back he thought on his first bumbling attempts to aid real police officers in their undercover work as a Jedi Investigator. He’d spent a lot of time sitting around staying quietly and reading people, or taking up arms if things went south.

Another made himself known. Clad in rags, and larger than any warrior Rook had ever set eyes upon, the monster tore apart the mercenary defense. He'd passed Rook and Khelgast up -- it seemed this one was an ally. Rook could work with that.

He made a mad dash across open land a moment later. The whir of the gatling laser spinning up sent a chill down his spine, but that anxiety melted away at the sound of his brother's rifle. The gunner fell in a bloody heap, and his allies followed shortly thereafter; as they observed.

"Where is the Nikto?" The High Lord boomed. The few mercenaries that survived had surrendered once the gunner was killed. Unfortunately, none of them provided an answer. Rook leveled his rifle at one of the unarmed man, and pulled the trigger. He fell to the ground in a a mist of red vapor.

"D-down the hall! To the left, he's holed up in his room! You can't miss him!"

Rook made a clicking noise with his tongue. "So easy," he shook his head, "If you leave, we will find you. Do you understand?"

The slaver woman nodded. Rook turned his attentions to the stranger.

"What are you creature?"

"You're going to be fraking rancor fodder if you don't get this fraking ship to the drop zone Hunt! Even your pheromones won't be able to save you then!" Mao's heated voice crackled over the headset comm of their helmets. They had just received orders from the Prex to search for the brigandes of Stratus Sphere at the rendezvous hot drop.

Hunt banked hard to port and pulled down as he pushed the shuttle's engines hard. The Zeltron male guided the shuttle to increasingly lower altitude, flying through thick pale pink clouds. With a quick tap of his finger over the blip of their objective on his sensor computer, the young mauve skinned man gave a satisfied grin. "Don't worry angel… we will be at the hot drop before you know it."

Either way, plan of attack would be the same. To hunt down the Stratus Sphere perpetrators towards the last known location of activity, search for any survivors, and as Mao put it "Kick some void-breathing sith-spawn arse."

It heard Rook speak, but shouldered past him into the room at large, not bothering yet to reply. Kneeling, the creature showed almost surprising gentleness as it walked to the slaves. Each one, whether caged, chained, or otherwise, was freed. Chains were separated by the form grasping them by their links and just pulling, tearing the cheap iron from the walls. Cages were undone by a means just as violent, ripping the very doors off it's hinges. With a momentary hesitation, the form grabbed the minigun that had been so much trouble for the other two and hefted it from it's mount, carrying it with only a little awkward shrug, and turned again to face the two Dreadguard and nod.

Whatever it was, or whatever its' motives, the form stood, absent a target, and so absent a thought at current. The rags it were clothed in wrapped around its' face even, concealing visage from any gaze, excepting a bare slit at eye level, revealing two deep honey-gold eyes that glanced about nervously. Muscles twitched as it seemed ill at-ease and uncomfortable with standing still, but it remained. Thoughts race through its' head, but finally it came back to the voice, naturally coded to command and words it seemed.

"Warrior"

The voice was full of gravel and grit, and deeper than most human forms like it would produce, but it was not altogether unpleasant. The tone was full and rich, a deep rooted bass rather than harsh screeching. The one word seemed to be all it would speak as it lapsed again into silence.

While Rook was busy with interrogations, Kelghast kept a close eye on the creature. Its strength was something to be admired, but could such a beastly thing be trusted not to compromise the mission? These were things Kelghast took very, very seriously. The mission always came first above all else, not people or things. Out of being typically tensed up and now somewhat crazed, the Dreadguard kept his finger on the trigger with only a hair a of force needed to unleash a torrent of slugs. His eyes never once left the figure.

"We need to move on, I don't care what this creature is or why it wants to assist. It can end the rest of these pathetic maggots for all I care."

Kelghast looked at another one of the slavers and opened fire on them. Their body slumping to the floor, blood oozing out and creating a crimson pool underneath. The others stared in horror at the cruelty of the Dreadguard, wishing to only escape with their lives intact and to run back to whatever scummy poor family they had. Such was the dreadful, miserable life of a slaver.

"We need to complete this objective. Now."

There was a grim sincerity in Kelghast's voice. This was not the same man Rook once knew.

So it was.

Rook paid the behemoth a moment's thought. In their new armor, the Dreadguard too taller than the warrior, but without it, they would seem demure. Surely this beast of a man was here for reasons other than blood. Then again, as Rook watched the man go about his grisly business, that might not be the case. It was only when the stranger began to open the slaves' cages that Rook allowed himself to relax the slightest bit.

"We're eliminating the keeper of these slaves. Join us if you wish," he took a step down the hall and looked over at Khelgast, "Come brother."

The Nikto's office was not far. One turn to the left, and there it was. Rook had no intentions of knocking. With a well placed boot, the wooden portal cracked and splintered. The warlord's massive form barely managed to clear the doorway. With his deece raised, Rook charged into the room, only to find it empty. Desks were overturned. The smell of burning ozone was in the air. There had been a struggle here.

Narrowing his eyes, Rook looked on. A small hatch was open in the corner of the room. It led below into the city's sewers. The Nikto was trying to make an escape! Grumbling a string of curses under his breath, Rook slid through the hatch, dropping down with a thud to the sewer below.

"We move quickly and we'll catch him."

The form took another way through, since the hallway was blocked by his newly gained companions. He simply backed up to one wall and began an odd bounding-leap run, thudding heavily to the floor with each foot fall. Suddenly the wall to the next room loomed before him, and cradling the gun in both his arms, he dropped his shoulder like he did with the door frame for entry, and the cheap flimsi-wood of the ramshackle building walls just exploded into splinters with a splintering crunch and puffs of sawdust. Screams were heard, but ignored, as it clomped through the distance between itself and Rook with a sort of callous ease, pulling up short of Rook as he dropped into a space rather obviously tiny for him, but the gun and the warrior dropped through easily.

Stepping up behind Rook, the beast seemed to wait for his cue, hooded form staring this way and that. Whatever its' motives were, it was obviously searching the way behind the group, to suss out any rearguard left behind or prevent ambush as well, the mini-gun still cradled in massive arms. Finally, it nodded, as if satisfied and stepped back into the light below the hole, and directly behind Rook. Oddly enough, the form coughed and wiped at it's nose as it sniffed the air around Rook. Something didn't smell right to it, obviously.

This objective could have been rather simple, but for one reason or another the bloody bastard had escaped. Kelghast dropped down with his brother of war into the sewers. His HUD flickered as lights turned on to illuminate the darkened tunnels. Sewers... a place that not only smelled of excrement, but funnily enough where this Nikto truly belonged. Sooner or later, he would be found. And Kelghast would force him against a wall and stare into his eyes so that he too may feel the stigma of the Netherworld's mark. Kelghast would become the ferryman to escort the abortions of the galaxy back into the womb of decay and hate where they belong.

"I want his head under my boot heel. First one to catch him gets the privilege." He looked back at the beast. "This includes you as well."

Kelghast began walking off into a random direction in thought, looking around the sewer tunnels.

The Dreadguard were made for more than petty trafficking crimes. More blood needed to be spilled, the blood of the notorious.

Objective: Be grimdark

Location: Sewer

The bastard was on the move. These sewers stretched far below the city, and the worm could find a place to escape in any number of areas. Rook was not looking forward to tracking this man down through the whole city; he needed to die now. With grumble, the soldier began to make his way through the sewer, eyes narrowed as he peered out into the darkness. This was no place for his kind. The Dreadguard had returned, more or less, and their place was the battlefield. They were children born of war, torn apart and rebuilt for the purpose of bringing carnage to the galaxy. To do good, one must be ready to destroy; the Dreadguard more than qualified.

Wading through a sewer was a reprieve. Rook was growing used to the cycle again, something he had broken away from when he joined the Galactic Alliance. It was a meat grinder: men went in. Viscera and broken bones came out. The few that survived the crucible of war were the ones history spoke of, for who decided what history was remembered but the victors? The first step was to destroy this slaver. If it were up to Rook, he'd set this Nikto's head on a pike, use its scaled skin for those new gloves he'd been wanting, and offer its bones to the victims. They would decide its final fate.

That was, of course, if he were the one to find the man. He set off in the direction Khelgast went, but unlike his brother, he chose to sprint. He could make out the faint lines of the Nikto's fingers trailing along the walls. The soot and detritus was brushed aside by the mongrel's clawed fingers. He wasn't far.

The nikto was running, that much was clear. And so, in response, he did the only logical thing to his still awakening mind. The only conscious thought was he needed to get the barrel of the gun pointed forward, and to watch as he surged in front of his comrades easily, legs creating founts of water as they splashed into the calf deep water. His run was again the odd not-quit-run and not-quite-leap that he had used inside the building, a blurring of his limbs and the rags around him as the creature they were pursuing caught sight of the hulk gaining on him and squealed, hurrying faster in a vain attempt to get ahead. It would fail,as did all attempts to escape him and his singular minded purpose. Such beasts as him were forged for only one purpose: to wage war.

Suddenly, with a flying pounce, he srpung even and caught the squealing creature they pursued. Though none could see thanks to the mummy like mask wrapped around his face, he grinned ferally and grabbed the target by its head in one arm, and hips by the other. There was a tensing of muscle seen only in how it stood and the movement of it's shoulders, as if preparing for some great strain. With a grunt, the creature pulled its' arms apart to opposite directions, and with a sickening series of pops and gurgles, the spine of the nitko was separate from its now lifeless body, pleas for mercy cut short as it merely dropped the torso and flung the head, spine still attached, at the feet of Rook.

"Done"

Again, it's verbosity was unmatched even by it's ferocity, and the form turned this way and that, obviously scanning for the weapon it had perhaps impulsively discarded.

Coren glanced her way, but did not acknowledge Chevu's hail, which mean one of two things. He was either still karked off at her or trying to remain inconspicuous. She chose to go with the latter. She took a seat at the bar, a few people over, purposefully putting herself between Gabe and Coren. Like Gabe, she ordered a water. Chevu had never been much of a drinker, but now she had even less of a reason to imbibe.

The Mirialan smirked at Gabriel. "No holes in you yet. That's a good sign." She jerked her head in Starchaser's direction.

"Maybe he's come around?" Chevu added hopefully. Somehow she doubted it.

They needed to move on the news. Whatever Coren was doing, she was willing to bet that what she had was a bit more urgent. Knowing that mentalism wasn't Starchaser's strength, impatiently she pressed herself into his mind.

I have some news about a slaving ring not too far from here. It's being run by the CRC. Apparently they've begun to branch out from Coruscant.
