IMPERIAL RECLAMATION AUTHORITY | BEGINNER'S GUIDE

VVVDHjr.png

BEGINNER'S GUIDE:
"I know your type. Signed the contract with dirt on your boots, all ready to play soldier. Watched too many Imperial warprop holos, didn't you. Get this now: courage is not competence. Playing hero will get us all killed. Careful, mindful work is what gets the job done." - Unknown Lieutenant

Mission Statement:

The Imperial Reclamation Authority is a surviving Imperial remnant focused on rebuilding the Empire through competence, realism, and slow expansion rather than blind conquest. The faction revolves around intergalactic maneuvering, military campaigns, intelligence operations, strong character driven decisions, and authoritarian state-building, with the Army, Navy, Intelligence Bureau, and Inquisition all working toward the same goal: reclaiming and stabilizing the galaxy under harsh but effective Imperial rule.

OOCly, the Imperial Reclamation Authority is designed to be an active, character-driven Imperial faction focused on creating engaging storylines, meaningful faction involvement, and long-term investment for its members. The goal is to build an Empire that feels competent, dangerous, and politically alive, where military campaigns, intelligence operations, leadership struggles, diplomacy, and personal ambition all directly shape the faction's direction while rewarding writers who actively contribute to its growth and narrative.

Alright, I'm interested, tell me more:

The faction is built around the idea that every branch and every character should have a meaningful role to play within the larger narrative. Army officers are expected to lead campaigns, manage occupations, and compete for strategic influence against the Navy, whose admirals control logistics, fleet power, and territorial expansion. Intelligence operatives and Inquisitors work behind the scenes to manipulate political situations, uncover threats, sabotage enemies, and create opportunities for the Authority to exploit. Meanwhile, the governmental side of the faction is intended to function as an active political game filled with rivalries, alliances, ambitious officials, internal disputes, and difficult decisions that can genuinely affect the direction of the Empire. The goal is to create a faction where members are not simply spectators to leadership decisions, but active participants in shaping the faction's successes, failures, and identity.

At its core, the Imperial Reclamation Authority is meant to tell stories about survival, ambition, and the rebuilding of power in a hostile galaxy. Rather than portraying the Empire as an unstoppable superpower from the outset, the Authority begins as an underdog faction operating with limited resources, dangerous enemies, and constant pressure from both external threats and internal politics. Progress is intended to feel earned through campaigns, diplomacy, strategic planning, and coordinated faction storytelling. Whether someone wants to command fleets, run intelligence operations, engage in political intrigue, write frontline soldiers, oversee industrial expansion, or play morally compromised officials trying to hold a crumbling state together, the project is designed to support a wide variety of interconnected stories while rewarding initiative, creativity, and consistent involvement.

A major goal of the project is avoiding many of the pitfalls that often weaken Imperial writing on the board. The Authority is not intended to be a cartoonishly evil superpower that endlessly postures while ignoring the realities of the setting, nor a faction built around metagaming, effortless victories, or pretending stronger factions do not exist. Instead, it is designed to operate like a believable and dangerous state: cautious when necessary, opportunistic when possible, and fully aware that survival depends on intelligent leadership and calculated decision making rather than empty declarations of dominance. Defeats, setbacks, political failures, logistical strain, and external pressure are all intended to matter because they create opportunities for stronger storytelling and character development. Likewise, respect for other factions, collaborative storytelling, and consequences for poor decisions are considered essential to maintaining both credibility and long-term faction health.

"Not every cadet has talent, skill, or even two brain cells to rub together, but by fire and radiation they'll graduate with discipline." - Imperial Army Sergeant

Now, how do I get started:

Getting started with the Imperial Reclamation Authority is intentionally designed to be straightforward and flexible. New writers can begin anywhere within the structure of the faction depending on the type of stories they enjoy most—Army officers leading frontline campaigns, Navy personnel commanding warships and logistics, Intelligence operatives running covert operations, Inquisitors hunting dangerous Force users, government officials navigating Imperial politics, or even ordinary citizens and support staff trying to survive within the machine of the state.

The best way to get involved is simply to create a character with a role inside the Authority and jump into active faction storylines, operations, discussions, or collaborative threads with other members. Initiative is heavily encouraged: characters who contribute consistently, create story opportunities for others, and engage with the wider faction narrative will naturally find themselves gaining influence, responsibilities, and progression within the Authority over time.

  • Create a character that fits somewhere within the Imperial Reclamation Authority's structure—military, intelligence, government, Inquisition, civilian administration, industry, logistics, etc. If you need assistance with this, consult the quick guide linked here. [X] You may also wish to gain a deeper understanding of your specific branch of the faction, if so, consult the guides provided in the BEGINNER'S HUB.
  • Join the faction Discord and introduce yourself to the community.
  • Read through the faction lore, structure, and current active storylines to get familiar with the setting.
  • Ask questions if you are unsure about anything—new writers are encouraged to engage and get involved early.
  • Decide what branch your character belongs to (Army, Navy, Intelligence, Inquisition, Government, etc).
  • Coordinate with leadership or other writers if you want help integrating your character into existing plots.
  • Jump into active threads, faction events, operations, or political storylines as soon as possible.
  • Don't be afraid to create your own ideas, operations, rivalries, or story hooks for others to engage with.
  • Stay active and involved—initiative and contribution are rewarded heavily within the faction.
  • Most importantly: focus on collaborative storytelling, character development, and creating fun narratives for both yourself and others.
At the end of the day, we are are here to all have some fun and enjoy overly posh British accents calling the enemy "Rebel Scum." So in the case you feel overwhelmed, message faction staff on the discord or directly message Cerein Aron Cerein Aron for any assistance, they will be more than happy to help!
