The weaponsmiths of Serenno were tasked with building the new standardised weapon for the Praetorian Knights. A lightsaber no less, it was a weapon and thats about it. It lacked the pomp and connection which Sith or Jedi would emphasize on and was meant to be a tool for war, for domination. The Praetorian Knights would use it as that and would though be able to choose their preferred model from the armouries of the First Order. It was noteworthy that no saberstaff was ever constructed by the weaponsmiths.
Now it serves as a symbol of unity and order, both within the Knights as well as within the First Order, bringing stability and justice to the Outer Rim by any means necessary.
