IMPERIAL FAILSAFE CIRCUIT

SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Monitors circuit and cuts a circuit if malware or viruses are detected.
STRENGTHS
  • Can cut a circuit if it is compromised by a virus.
WEAKNESSES
  • The cut circuit becomes inactive - while this may prevent spread of the virus, it certainly disables the immediately affected system.
DESCRIPTION
Upon losing a star destroyer to code infiltration in the Battle of Bastion, an immediate call went out for a new anti-virus technology that could be installed in Imperial devices to avoid similar losses in the future. Members of the 'exiled' community of House Mecetti Nationalized Industries operating on Voss quickly came up with a solution: They created a droid logic circuit that could be placed atop of critical network chipsets, monitoring their activity by induction without actually being tied into the circuit. Minute energy changes within the monitored circuit represent data transfers which induce a miniscule current in the monitoring chip, allowing it to monitor the data being transferred without having to be soldered onto the board.

If harmful code is detected- they detonate a one-gram micro-explosive to cut off the impacted segment of the network from other systems. The mini-explosion is just powerful enough to cut the impacted systems from other systems by breaking the circuit. This prevents the further spread of code and stops a virus in its tracks. It does have the unfortunate effect of disabling the systems already infected, but this was deemed preferable to losing an entire vehicle, base, or starship to a viral attack. Easy to design and easy to implement, the Imperial Failsafe Circuit is expected to see widespread implementation within one month of the Battle of Bastion.

It is interesting, but I have to ask are you sure do you want this? Because the electromagnetism destroys what you are trying to protect, so this sub is completely inoperable and only good for firing the circuit. I'm saying this as an IT engineer, and not to mention this method isn't good to find and recognise any viruses.

Good Morning,

I am not an IT engineer, so having an IT engineer help will be useful.

The goal is to contain a virus before it corrupts an entire system. For instance, if the virus is introduced in the communications system, the circuits connecting communication to other systems would be shut down before the virus can spread.

The dramatic cost of this is meant to be the loss of the system where the virus was introduced.

In this way, the slicer implanting the virus still achieves some success, and the defender prevents the loss of an entire network.

Cheers.

I understand what you want, but you've made it very complicated. It's mostly an anti-virus or anti-malware program, which the moment it detects a virus/malware it disconnects the computer/system from the network. It is the easiest solution. :)
