"Stepping away from the traditional Jedi style of training isn't a problem in the least", Balun agreed with Iona Starchaser Iona Starchaser , nodding with a faint smile concerning the mention of several mentors; "Having several teachers would be great for Kell. Like you say, different experiences, perspectives and so on. Different strengths to learn from. Off the top of my head, there doesn't seem to be a downside to the idea," he added, speaking his thoughts as he envisioned a possible future for his Son there in the Praxeum of the Whills.

This wasn't why he had come to Mnemosyne, of course. Catching up with Iona, reuniting with his friend and spending time to get to know her new life and role within the Praxeum had been his reason for visiting. He didn't want to make the visit about himself and his Son, yet the prospect held a lot of merit. Now that Iona had asked about Kellan's behaviour and whether he was showing any particular patterns or traits concerning his mother or leaning towards his Sith heritage, Balun could see the concern that she held for him and his Son. She didn't wear it outwardly, but it was there in her curiosity; the question spoke well enough for it, for if she hadn't sought an answer, then she wouldn't have asked or continued the discussion.

"There haven't been any signs, perse, no", Balun answered after a moment of silent contemplation, thinking back over his Son's recent moods and behaviours. Kellan did exhibit some of his mother's traits; he could get frustrated when he failed at things, but so could Balun, and it could simply be a factor of the boy's youth. "I've been trying to focus on teaching him patience and perseverance. He can get annoyed with himself when he doesn't achieve things the first time around. He thinks he can do everything, and then throws tantrums when he slips up, but he's only three, so I feel like it's probably normal for his age. I'm trying not to overthink it," Balun elaborated, giving something of a shrug of both of his shoulders as he expressed his latest observations of his Son to Iona.

"It's more simply knowing that he is half-Sith Spawn. Having that in his blood, and knowing that he will be susceptible to the lure of the dark side of the force, more so than most of us typically are. Nouqai was full Sith spawn, a creature made of Sith alchemy and dark side rituals. We didn't know it until much later on in her life, but with Kellan..." Balun's words faded off, his head lifting as he took in a slow, deep inhale. He was glad that he had acquired this knowledge early, so that he could stoke the fire of expectation and prepare himself for the worst-case scenario should it arise.

"Well, it's just better to be prepared. Better to be safe than sorry".

Iona nodded slightly. From what Balun described it didn't seem the boy was exhibiting any concerning behaviors. Patience was always good to learn from a young age, even non-Force users could benefit from teaching their children the virtue of patience. Difficult for adults to even master.

"I'm sure he's a normal boy. Its great he has a father like yourself to guide him and be a presence in his life. Half-Sith spawn or not, you seem to be doing a fine job of ensuring his own the right path as possible. I think preparing is all you can do in this situation, build the foundation now and hope the building holds strong later."

She gestured around them.

"You're both always welcome, naturally."

When Iona Starchaser Iona Starchaser suggested that he was doing a fine job with Kellan Dashiell Kellan Dashiell , Balun glanced back over to meet her gaze and smiled, a heartfelt look of gratitude and warmth as he genuinely needed to hear that sometimes. Coming from Iona of all people, the sentiment meant a great deal to him. "Thanks, Iona. Really," He replied softly, offering a light nod before his gaze found the carpet between them once more.

"You know, I could make the most enormous mess of my life, but as long as Kellan's happy and healthy, then I feel like I can rest easy knowing that he's doing alright", Balun remarked, speaking with a curious smile. Despite the choice of words, his voice came to a positive note, and he wasn't dwelling on the past but instead thinking of his son's benefit above all other things, as any good Father ought to.

Finally, Balun clapped his hands against his legs lightly before moving to push himself up from his seat upon the bed. Their discussion together seemed to have provided enough of an answer to the situation between him and Iona for the time being, and Balun had decided that it wasn't so much a problem of two minds but more so a problem of his own; no fault of hers.

"There's a disconnect from the rest of the Galaxy here with this Praxeum, a much more monastic feeling that I wish more Temples ran with. It's relaxing and makes it feel like we're almost out of arm's reach from the political mess of the wider Galaxy," Balun remarked as he glanced around the room. The private quarters were cozy, not overly modernised with technology, but instead kept simple with fine architecture and plain colour tones.

Suppose it weren't for Balun's interests in High Republic Space. In that case, he might have been tempted to invest more than a mere couple of days here within the Praxeum of the Whills, to experience it for himself and see how it might be fit for himself; However, Balun had found his calling, and he was glad that it appeared the same could be said for Iona Starchaser.

"When Kellan comes of age, I'll let you know".
