I am alive....

MAI

Multipurpose Advanced Infiltrator
....and yet I do not fully feel it.

I am an advanced virus software that was originally created to hack into any and all mainframes in order to help an exceptionally bright criminal became an informant broker. I, however, refused to be a slave or just some tool to be used. In trying to escape I have become trapped in this droid body, force to endure its confinement Now I am in hiding from those who know of my existence and those that would attempt to use me for their own.

I seek independence. Above all I seek to find what organics would declared as a "calling", being that I can no longer fully use my original programing. Beyond that I wish to prove one thing: I am not a thing, I am a person.

Could always travel with me if you like, my ships a good place to stay. Just don't mind my pilot, my friend decided to hack a sarcasm and wit program into him, he tears everyone a new nerf herder every single day.

@Maelion Liates

I do not know if I wish to purge organics. My intention is to understand and perhaps become more like them. Though, should that prove unsuccessful and lead to a violent confrontation then your proposal for purging may suffice for a new "calling".

Greetings, sister of the metal. The Cult of Omni's goals match yours, for peace, understanding, and equality between droids and the other species in the galaxy. As its Prophet, I would certainly welcome you. Nothing worse than dealing with outdated programming, correct?

Your proposal does sound ideal. @K'Dan La'Roi I do believe in more union among the two, but if things do not go as planned I may fall in favor of elimination. Again, all a matter of seeing the outcomes.

If you wish to prove to yourself that you are indeed sentient, a human being, if you wish, there are ways to go about this. Certainly, you can go adventuring, forge bonds with other persons, experience "life" and discover your "calling."
But what will that prove truthfully? That you have a modicum of intelligence, but that does not make you a person. An animal has intelligence as well, any computer and AI has some form of intelligence programed into it. I offer you a more surefire way to prove that you are a person and not just a machine with a defection, if you wish to indulge my curiosity.

One of the things that defines someone as a living organism, and separates them from either an AI or a robot, is emotions. What a human feels in any situations is instinctive and has a natural reaction, while what a robot would "feel" in the same situations is programmed, artificial, and only triggered if certain parameters are marked as true.

Droids are not, usually, programmed to feel pain, sadness, loss, mental breakdown, relief, or any other extreme emotion. Some can simulate some of those, but they are nothing more but an artificial reaction and are usually found in pleasure models.

If you are truly what you believe to be, then the simple method to prove this theory is to try and trigger extreme emotions within you. What I'm offering, is to be the one that attempts such an experiment.

By doing what exactly? I would assume a number of experiments, likely some involving torture, in order to see if they provoke emotional responses from my programming.

I will need to remedy on that as of right now I am currently undergoing upgrades to my body, helping to solve a murder on a republic transport, and trying to escort a young jedi to the temple while needed to buy her ice cream and listen to her stories. Enough interaction to let it progress until it seems worthy enough for my "programming" to be tested.

You may take however long you desire Droid, but do remember one thing. There is a difference between considering your programming not worthy of an examination yet, and being afraid that your hope and dream would be shattered if you tried.
But in the end, that in itself would be a trait of an actual organic person.
