How much Would a Lightsaber wound or Blaster wound hurt?

Always wanted to talk about how Wounds in Starwars worked, I only bring it up because after i watched Darth maul get cut in half i thought about it some more and if a lightsaber was that hot wouldn't it cause 3rd degree burns. Killing Nerves in that area and thus the ability to feel pain in that area. Im sure it would burn and fester up into a deathly infection but the Question of how much it would hurt still makes me ponder...

I'd expect it would hurt for about a millisecond, until it instantly cauterized the area. It would destroy the nerves, so you couldn't feel the pain. Though when they regrew...

It would keep burning so long as it is touching the flesh, that why blasters don't seem to have lasting effects. So basically it would hurt a ton, but pretty much only for as long as it is touching you. But healing would take a long time, that's why fighters get tired but never seemed too injured.

For a normal human, a blaster or lightsaber wound would not only cause a three-degree burn, but a fourth-degree burn, instantly charring and cauterizing the entire area, burning any nerves away and, as Mit said, probably only hurting for a imperceptible few millisecond.

However, if I read your bio correctly, your character is some sort of mutated sithspawn-Gen'dai. Gen'dai are specifically described as "walking nerve clusters," there may be some possibility of him perceiving the pain anyways, especially when the healing process starts and the charred nerves are slowly repaired.

So yes, it would probably hurt a-lot for Kezeroth.

I imagine low-powered weapons like hold-out blaster pistols and lightfoils would hurt the most, since they're likely to only cauterize int eh center of hte wound, leaving exposed nerves and horrible wounds around it. Lightsabers and heavy blaster weapons would likely cauterize most of hte wound, but there will always be a ring of burned tissue that wasn't cauterized. Which would hurt like feth.

There is a misconception that there are only burns to the third degree, third being the worst. There are burns called a fourth degree, however (I can personally attest to this, I've recently recovered from a fourth degree burn on my hand) which destroys muscle tissue, nerves, bones, etc. A lightsaber would easily achieve this, as would a blaster. So, in some ways, it would hurt in an indescribable way, but in others you wouldn't feel a thing. The issue with pain is, unfortunately, the sudden lack of nerve endings causes excruciating pain, perhaps greater than with the nerves remaining intact.

All of this, of course, depends on where the burn is located, how big it is, and so on. So in some instances it means death, others it could simply be losing a limb.

Yeah, but the issue with nerve damage is that pain tends to radiate i.e. depending on what nerves got burned/destroyed, after a while that pain would move along the innervation to wherever that particular branch was leading. :S

Say, for example, that you got cut w/ a lightsaber somewhere along your forearm; that'd spread upwards and at least as far as your brachial plexus, if not further. Nerves are a queen.

This question makes me think of the duel between Obi-Wan and Count Dooku.

A single blow to the leg dropped him to the ground. It didn't look too deep, but it was enough to bring a Jedi master to the floor in pain. Likewise, when Anakin and Luke get their limbs chopped off, they are both obviously in pain. (Gotta loved pained screams, right?)

So...in essence, lightsaber wounds probably are some of the most painful in existence. Instant fourth degree burns, instant cauterization, and instantly being dropped to the ground from a single blow.

It'd be weird to write an RP where you got shot or cut by a laser and didn't feel the pain. You'd have to like... Write up some science'y mumbo-jumbo to explain to the audience that your nerves made the damage imperceptible to your characters brain because of nerves and nerions and protons and electrons and science and stuff. ...Because then you've lost your audience. Or worse yet, they start asking smart questions. Like: is there really sound in space? How does a blaster work? Wouldn't a lightsaber made of plasma be impossible to build? Why is Anakin such a whiny bby?

Or you know. Whatevz. :p

To reference [member="Darth Metus"]' point RE Obi-Wan/Dooku - Obi-Wan took a glancing blow, not a cut, and he was out of the fight. It wasn't a serious injury, little more than a nick. It's a huge amount of damage because it's, what, a million degrees Celsius?

IMO, with lightsabers, not getting hit is usually okay in my book because a tiny hit will probably end the fight unless you've got hella Control Self or are, like, Ashin. Take a hit eventually, or get hit by surrounding punches/kicks/telekinesis/etc.

A blaster shot would hurt considerably less. A single shot to the arm almost put Leia out. Honestly, equate that to being shot by your standard RL gun. It'd hurt like crazy, but you could keep going, depending on where you got hit. Just add burn damage to it.

By nature lightsabers are extremely painful weapons as everyone described with the burns and all. The force definitely has something to do with the Jedi/Siths ability to stay in the fight longer after suffering one or numerous wounds in combat. Lasers are extremely hot and as we know, like a hot knife through butter when it comes into contact with flesh. I completely agree, you can equate it to that of a gun wound in normal times as well.
