Technological Terror
OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
One of the trademark weapons of a House assassin, these small, semi-opaque orbs are carried in moderate numbers whenever an operatives fears that discovery or open battle may occur on a mission.
Typically, these explosives are thrown right at the user's feet, immediately enveloping a sizeable radius (nearly 20 meters) in thick, silver-iridescent smoke. In truth, this substance is mostly semi-vaporized Shiftsteel, and if viewed under a microscope is revealed to consist of countless molecules of this substance.
As Shiftsteel is a chameleonic metal, this smoke can obscure the area far more heavily than most such weapons can manage. The air becomes filled with thick, shimmering, semi-translucent fumes, creating odd shadows and reflections to further obfuscate the position of its user.
What's more, this substance is highly irritating to most humanoid tissue. Shiftsteel smoke is damnably irritating to eye and nose tissue, potentially causing uncontrollable weeping, runny nose, and occasionally temporary blindness as the eyes attempt to clear away the cloying, gritty substance. Nor should the substance be inhaled, as it can potentially cause uncontrollable coughing fits, or in extreme cases nausea and vomiting.
Thanks to their natural resistance to poisons and protective garb, House assassins typically do not need to fear the effects of their own weapons.
While an excellent tool for covering an advance (or more often, a getaway) these weapons are markedly less effective on foes using gas masks or sealed armor, though this equipment still doesn't make the user any easier to see. Nor can they block scanning tools, or other senses beyond sight.

- Now You See Me: House operatives often use these grenades to "disappear". House Smoke-Bombs immediately create a cloud of abrasive, cloying metal dust and fumes at the target area, obscuring vision.
- Tear Gas: If it is inhaled or gets into the eyes, the "smoke" from these weapons can cause eye pain, disorientation, nausea, and dizziness.
- Non-Lethal: House Smoke-Bombs can temporarily sicken and dismay, but virtually never cause lasting harm to their victims.
- Smoke And Mirrors: These weapons are purely a tool of theatricality and misdirection, and cannot fool sensors.
