STRENGTHS
  • Bigger Bangs for your Buck: The Hokk-Class is essentially a Heavy Missile Cruiser designed with long-range Ion Cannons to incapacitate enemy ships and defenses before finishing them with a barrage of firepower. The Assault Concussion Missile Launchers are designed to destroy enemy Capital Ships and to be used for Planetary Assaults and their payloads can be modified to deliver nuclear strikes, virus bombs, etc. Advanced Targeting Systems ensure that even at range accuracy is reliable.
  • Thick Hide: The Hull of these ships has been reinforced with Carbon-Durasteel Plating to augment its defensive capabilities meaning it can take more direct damage to its hull than would be otherwise allowable. A Damage Reduction Component further augments the ships hull and assists in minimizing energy damage.
  • High Output Core: The Power Core of the Hokk-Class is very high out ensuring that the Long-Range Ion Cannons of the Heavy Cruiser can fire with a minimized power drain on the rest of the ship.

WEAKNESSES
  • Power Drain: Despite the High Output Power Core the Hokk-Class still suffers some power drain from the use of its Long-Range Ion Cannons. This essentially drains the ships engines, reducing its speed from low to very low in times of combat. It also weakens the ships shielding but doesn't outright drain it.
  • Substandard Shielding: The Shielding of the Hokk-Class was never intended as its main defense in combat, heavily reinforced armor plating plays that role and as such the shields of the Hokk are somewhat underdeveloped. Deflector Shields suffer drain from the Long-Range Ion Cannons just like the engines reducing their effectiveness by half.

DESCRIPTION
The Hokk-Class was designed for intimidation. Large and lumbering but with a massive amount of firepower built into it when the Hutts need to quell an insurrection or revolt on one of the planets under their jurisdiction the appearance of a Hokk Heavy Assault Cruiser is usually enough to do so. If the appearance alone is not sufficient the threat of a massive planetary bombardment usually suffices.

Designed as both a Planetary deterrent and a Combat Ship the Hokk-Class is outfitted with a multitude of hard hitting armaments made primarily of Assault Concussion, Concussion and Proton Missile Launchers. Quad Long-Range Ion Batteries and Heavy Turbolasers round out the rest of the offensive capabilities with a high compliment of Point-Defense Lasers for Starfighter support and engagement.

Reinforced Carbon-Durasteel Plating and Damage Reduction Components outline the hull of the Heavy Cruiser ensuring it is battle ready and can take a hit while also remaining able to dole one out. Defensively a focus was placed on armor and hull reinforcement rather than the shielding of Hokk, it is outfitted with deflector shields but the drain from firing the Ion Cannons effectively reduces these by half at the onset of combat ensuring their defensive contribution is something to be desired.

These Ships are also designed with High Output Power Cores which accounts for the Heavy Cruisers being able to fire their Long-Range weaponry while remaining mobile (at a reduced speed) and with active, though diminished shielding.

Other systems of note the Hokk-Class is equipped with are Holographic Tactical Displays on the bridge, advanced targeting systems and long range sensors.

An average assortment of Fighter sized starcraft also compliment the Hokk-Class ensuring it can drop troops into planetary engagements, engage other ships and screen itself, etc.

These Heavy Cruisers carry a hefty price tag to create and while the Consortium values them their production has been limited. Most Fleets will only have a half dozen of these vessels at any given time and individual Syndicates may only boast one or two of them for personal enforcement of their territories. When seen in combat they often make use of smaller Corvettes and Frigates acting as a hammer while the other vessels attract fire, etc.
