Hmmm?

So this is my real first go at being a force user. As a padawan what force powers and Lightsaber techniques would I have learned, or do I need to start from square one?

It depends on what kind of character you want to RP.

Some start with Force Powers and Lightsaber already somewhat trained, others start with nothing.

Lira for instance has absolutely no force training or Lightsaber knowledge. She is slowly gaining it over the course of threads, but right now she does everything instinctually. To balance this however she has a great deal of knowledge in engineering and mechanics as well as politics and the like.

In contrast, Diana(my first Jedi) was already trained in the force and as close to an expert as a padawan could be with a lightsaber from the get go, but had very little real world knowledge.

Rohlan was raised in the jedi temple since birth so I am gonna say he has picked up a few skills on the way. Thanks [member="Lira Dajenn"]

[member="Rohlan"] - I've got some input for you, since you're electing to already have some powers under your belt.

Typically, if I'm starting a character off with some training, that'll be fairly basic, as follows (for example) for someone to have gotten some idea of in... oh, their first week with the Jedi, as a 'mature student':

Control
Force Speed
Projective Telepathy

Alter
Force Jump
Telekinesis [Pull, Push, Levitation]

Sense
Force Sense
Receptive Telepathy

...depending on the character, some of this may have been discovered as due course of experimenting upon personal discovery of the character's ability as a force user - and there might be one or two other things that would have tipped the character off that they had power in the force at all, whether they were aware that's what it's called or not.

Jannik, for example, started with Force Vision, which is the scope of what he is - a powerful seer - as well as telepathy, receptive in particular... which made him believe he was hearing voices, in addition to the intense visions! These things necessitated items like Mind Barrier and Thought Shield to take the weight off of his sanity, as some of his first assumed lessons.

If you're taking on powers as already learned, discovered, or innate from the get-go, be reasonable, and make sure it makes sense for your character. Oh, and if a power sounds really freaking cool, then it might be really not for padawans.

Don't be afraid to talk your selections over with someone if you're not sure. We want you to be able to have a good time, and have people take you seriously. :)
