MISCELLANEOUS EQUIPMENTDESCRIPTION

As it is often stated, one must look to the past in order to find the keys to the future. This philosophy defined the Techno Union project spearheaded by the reborn Czerka Arms, whose aim has always been the production of quality weapons for the Galaxy. As such, the design teams delved into the past of the corporation and found the golden egg that was the HK-series Assassin Droid...and began to create anew. Such were the origins of the HK-series Commando Droid: one of the most advanced battle droids ever produced. To begin, the first factor which sets the HK-series Commando Droid apart from the other droids saturating the market is its CZ-HKD Droid Brain. This exceptional piece of technology, driven by a Gabonna Memory Crystal, affords each unit extraordinary processing power and enough capacity for an exceptional sum of weapons programming. By default, each unit is programmed to effectively utilize the weapons produced by the Techno Union's member corporations; a fact that grants the Commando droids an excellent sum of versatility.

In terms of overall composition, the HK-series Commando Droid was wrought from a choice selection of materials. The first of which was duraplast, a metal renowned for its strength in comparison to other materials. This material makes up for the vast majority of the unit's frame and is intentionally reinforced for additional durability. Upon the frame are mounted a series of plates wrought from armorplast: the ceramic cousin of durasteel. As opposed to selecting durasteel, which is the go-to metal whenever the construction of practically anything is involved, Czerka Arms decided to utilize armorplast for a variety of reasons. First and foremost, it has an exceptional talent for the deflection and reflection of blaster bolts. Second, it is significantly lighter than durasteel whilst offering comparable protection. While it is noted that the dimensions of the armorplast plating reduce the overall effectiveness of the material's ability to deflect/reflect blaster bolts, the design teams thought armorplast to be the best choice for constructing the droid's armor plating.

When employed on the field of battle, the HK-series Commando Droid fulfills the role of leader exceptionally well. Due to the modules installed within its CZ-HKD Droid Brain, each unit is capable of effectively coordinating and communicating with troops (both organic and synthetic) whilst employing a wide variety of stratagem. What's more, between its durable composition, its gyroscopic stabilizer, and the additional servomotors included in its design, the HK-series Commando Droid can quickly and efficiently maneuver itself about numerous terrains. In fact, when compared to the "staple" droid utilized by the Separatist Droid Army of old, the B1 Battle Droid, the HK-series Commando Droid can literally run circles around them. For added maneuverability, especially when faced with those "tough to reach" spaces on higher elevations, each unit is also equipped with a grappling spike launcher. With these, transitioning from the ground to higher positions becomes an elementary task.

As a whole, these features pale in comparison to its keynote trait: the ability to remotely control other droids. Inspired by the Lucrehulk-class vessels utilized to command and coordinate the droid armies of old, a series of specialized antennae were installed upon each unit's frame. These broadcast an encrypted signal that is immediately recognized by droid units pre-programmed to accept this feature. Upon recognition, the Commando unit takes control over the droid and can issues order seamlessly whilst maintaining combat effectiveness; all through communicating via antennae. The maximum number a single Commando can control without sacrificing processing power or overall combat effectiveness is four. In dire situations, such as when the unit is damaged, additional units can be controlled in exchange for combat effectiveness. (It is to be noted that the highly-encrypted signal is only effective in taking control of droid designed to be deployed alongside the Commando unit in this capacity. This signal cannot be utilized to take care of other, enemy droids for example.)

From durability, to maneuverability, to weapons versatility, to leadership; the HK-series Commando Droid has it all. However, it is not without its drawbacks. To begin, despite measures take to harden each unit against ion, electro-proton, EMP, and General Electric damage (Such as its duraplast frame and an agrinium mesh about the droid's internal components), the HK-series Commando Droid is still very much a droid. As such, while it enjoys a moderate degree of protection from these threats when compared to an unhardened droid, the units are still vulnerable to these sorts of measures. What's more, the unit is also vulnerable to exceptionally talented slicers; as are the vast majority of all droids. What's more, while the HK-series Commando Droid is built to last, it is not supernaturally durable. Mines, explosions, and vehicular ordnance will decimate this unit just as they would any other droid or organic soldier. In addition, while the unit can operate effectively in wet conditions (such as during rainy operations), it will completely cease to function if completely submerged underwater.

However, despite its shortcomings, the strengths of the HK-series Commando Droid are poised to see it become one of the most combat-effective units in the Galaxy.
