"Well, thank you very much for dinner, Mlle. Dashiell," Tavian stood as they'd both finished and she'd already announced she would be paying.
"I should probably turn in for the evening before my friends show up and try to drag me off to a concert or the like."
Reaching for her hand, he took it gently in his and held it up to his lips. The urge to linger at the touch of softness and warmth was strong, but not overpowering. Tavian let go.
"Until next time, Persephone."

A few days later...
"Good morning, Mssr. Dashiell. You do not know me, but I have become acquainted with your daughter, Persephone. She made it abundantly clear that before we ventured on a second date I need to seek your permission. I am not certain how you do things outside of the Hapes Cluster, but I am happy to send you my resume or lineage certificate. I intended to invite her to one of the resorts on Hapes, or if that seems too informal to you then we had discussed an archaeological dig site tour of a former Gree colony."
That seemed a bit too far to Tavian, but it is what would be expected of any Hapan noble. So best to be on the safe side. Although he did wonder if the galaxy felt the same way about their obsessiveness over bloodlines. Likely not.
"I am available if you wish to discuss further via holomail, transmission, or in person. Sincerely, Tavian Djo."
This all felt rather like he was seeking to purchase an expensive speeder rather than go on date with a beautiful and intelligent young woman, but then he expected this was exactly how his mother discussed things with the other Duchas.
So be it.
