Satou was born into the Gokudo families of Coronet City. His particular family was deeply involved in drug and weapons trafficking, a task easily accomplished when most high-ranking men and women of the family served in CorSec and in Corellian politics as mayors or other dignitaries. They were not typically seen as a street gang but the Satou-Clan did have a presence in the poorer neighborhoods of Gold Sector, mostly hired muscle only tangentially related to the clan. These lowlifes were known as Konoe, wild beasts only good for destruction and keeping order. Getting sent to be a low-level Oyabun for these rabid Konoe was seen as a punishment. As it would be, poor grades in military school and pure incompetence led Hideki to this fate at the ripe age of 18. He made a name for himself on the streets of A-Town as a Konoe though and he thrived. He began to show too much pride in his lowly status, even tattooing the Atrisian beast onto his back.

It wasn't until he found his younger sister in a drug-induced stupor in a raid of a rival clan's shipments that he realized what a dirty place the life of a Konoe was. He returned to his father enraged at how this could happen. His mother told him then point-blank that what happened to her was a direct consequence of his constant skirmishes with the rival clans and that if he had stayed the path given to him none of this would have happened. Deflated and seeing the error of his ways, that he could never escape the grip of the Satou-Clan he returned to the family proper and went to officer school, all the while repenting and making amends to the families which he wronged.

By the time Kaito Kiyoshi and the Yokai started encroaching on other Clans' territories, Satou was a respected Captain in the reconstituted Corellian Defense Force. As a show of faith and friendship, Satou was given to the Oyabun known only as Maou as a peace offering. He served Maou faithfully, eventually even betraying his father and leading the Satou-Clan to be absorbed by the Yokai. He continued to serve them, rising through the ranks until he replaced the Corellian smuggler Ronin and took his rightful place. By then a Commodore in the Galactic Alliance Navy he fed information about troop movements to Maou and was soon brought into the biggest secret of the Yokai; The Maou was actually Corellian Senator Kaito Kiyoshi, and not only that but also that he was the apprentice of a secret Sith cult. None of this mattered. Satou had long since learned his lesson of rocking the boat and angering his Oyabun. The loyal Konoe would follow his Oyabun to Hell and back, even into the clutches of the Sith.
