Intent: To create a lightsaber-resistant set of gauntlets that house Ket's lightsabers

Development Thread: http://starwarsrp.net/topic/38556-reunion-tour

Manufacturer: Ket Van-Derveld

Model: Hidden-Hilt Gauntlets Ver. 2

Affiliation: Personal Item of Ket Van-Derveld

Modularity: No.

Production: Unique (Personal)

Material: Cortosis-Carbon Alloy (Main Body), Durasteel-Carbon Alloy (Lightsaber Hilt Holster Casing and Springs), Leather (Straps)

Classification: Multi-Purpose (Anti-Lightsaber, Anti-Blaster, Holsters)

Weight: .7 Kg per Gauntlet

Quality: 9 (Against Lightsabers), 4 (Against everything else)

Special Features: Due to the Cortosis content, they are highly resistant to both lightsaber strikes and blaster fire. Spring loaded holsters for one lightsaber per gauntlet are located on the underside of each.

Description: Ket has had durasteel versions of these gauntlets for ages, since he was a teenager. He used them primarily as hidden holsters for his twin lightsabers, and that was their only main function. In this new time, far removed from his own, he has seen the conflict and turmoil to the galaxy escalate into something even he never could have imagined. Realizing that even an ancient Sith Lord such as he would need protections other than the Force itself, he set about forging these gauntlets. Having helped his apprentice Marek starchaser fend off a pirate attack on his cortosis mine on Katanos VII, Ket was given a few chunks of Cortosis ore as a reward for his swift efforts. Using hydraulic rams to forge the cortosis into an alloy with carbon to keep the weight down, Ket formed the outer shells of the gauntlets slowly, and carefully, mating them to the leather under-structure once completed.

His gauntlets are more for the primary use of being hidden hilt holsters, but double as a deterrent to lightsabers and blasters within reason should the need arise. He does not rely on them, as they are still prone to being cut through should they suffer too much damage too quickly. But in the event that Ket is cut off from the Force, he still has a way of deflecting both blaster bolts and lightsaber strikes until he can get his own lightsabers into his hands. Due to the carbon content, they also make a useful bludgeoning tool, though again, whilst lightweight, they are not impervious. The leather, while tough and durable, is still leather, and with a precision strike, can be cut through with ease. However, Ket has taken that into account, and the leather, while able to be cut, is quite hard to get to due to being on the underside of his forearms. One must remember, that these are not relied upon for their special abilities, but more as a way to keep his lightsaber hilts hidden from the naked eye.

I could find nothing untoward about this. I have debates as yet unresolved on the nature of Cortosis but that has little to do with this as it is being used.

Peeeeeending SECONDAAAAARY!
