Hello there

Oh. Quick response here. Cool. Vizion Trozky Vizion Trozky I have the most experience with Jedi, so I'd start with one here too. However, I'm still looking for a bit of information. What time period are we playing in, or are you doing your own thing? What are the requirements (apart from age, I've already seen that)? All the things i need to know to write the background.

Ah, I mostly write Jedi too; a little bit of other stuff here and there, but mostly Jedi!

The year is 902 ABY, thereabouts, and the timeline gets advanced once in a while. People follow it very loosely for the most part, as far as aging their characters.

That said, it's fine to write flashbacks into the past (even the long past) if that's relevant to a character, but yeah, the vast majority of roleplay on Chaos runs under the assumption that the current year is what it says on the timeline.

Aside from this, the majority of people get started writing, with one of the existing factions - it's not required, but it's typically the easiest way to get started!

And as for what's required for a character's background... well, it's whatever you like. Such as for your character, if you'd like them to fit with a Jedi Order or specific planet, it's largely up to you how that looks. :)

Okay, that's further in the future than I've ever played. Interesting. What are the admission criteria for the Jedi Order? Like the old Order, and you basically have to describe your childhood in the Order in your background. Or is it more open, like it was under Luke back then?

A bit of both, really. It'll be a bit more like Luke's order for most people, but there are some characters written as if they grew up with one Order or Enclave, though those are usually orphans. Otherwise, there's no Jedi Order that takes children from their parents as babies, here, to my knowledge.

It's handled in different ways. Some characters don't start their training at all until they're in their teens, even mid to late teens, others for various reasons, might start their training at least part-time (weekends, school holidays) through a local enclave or temple, alongside their regular childhood and schooling and commit to the path full time in their late teens, after finishing school - just a couple ideas out of many.

Or like... Vizion here, for example, was given a choice, an informed decision by his parents at the age of eight - he could choose to pursue the Jedi path, or the noble and political path of his family - after a family friend who was a Jedi noticed his potential. His father believes the two shouldn't mix.

So there's various ways to handle a Jedi's past.

Thanks for your suggestions. That gives me a rough idea of what I can do with Teanna. I'll write her background tomorrow or the day after. It's already 11:30 PM here, and tomorrow is a full day. Weekdays are always quieter than weekends, somehow :D

Yes, on weekends I always take care of my parents, who are very ill. Cooking meals, doing small repairs, bringing things down to the basement or bringing them up. All that sort of thing. They always have a to-do list. And their dog feels like I only come there to play with her.lol

Sorry to hear! That would keep anyone busy! Goodness! Aww, the dog, lol - that's cute even if said dog might be getting in the way at every turn.

Again, welcome to Chaos. I look forward to your character writeup. You have a good night. :)
