STRENGTHS
  • Low Recoil: The heavy construction and the addition of an advanced recoil system has lead to the AR-01 having a rather low recoil compared to contemporaries
  • High Stopping Power: While most slugthrower assault rifles use the traditional 5.56x45mm cartridge the AR-01 uses the much harder hitting 6.8x49mm cartridge
  • Reliable: Unlike most slugthrower assault rifle that use a direct impingement gas piston system the AR-01 instead uses a short stroke gas piston that has shown to be much more reliable in adverse conditions
WEAKNESSES
  • Heavy Weight: Like all other Hekler'Kok weapons the R&D used their lightweight Titanium-Alusteel alloy but due to increased thickness for reinforcement in key areas and to help reduce recoil
  • Limited Capacity: Like any slugthrower rifle the AR-01 has a limited capacity compared to its contemporary blaster rifles
DESCRIPTION
After finishing their work on the SMG-01 the Hekler'Kok R&D team began work on what they hoped would be the cornerstone of the Hekler'Kok armor, the Assault Rifle-Model 01 or AR-01. As always the team began with deciding on the materials that would be used in the construction of the rifle. All metal parts of the rifle, including the upper and lower receiver, barrel and internal mechanisms, where made out of Hekler'Kok's patented Titanium-Alusteel Alloy. The barrel was then lined with Chromium to reduce wear and tear on the barrel. The grip, stock and handguard were made out Plastoid to help manage weight while still making the rifles furniture durable. Finally the rifle was plated in CeramiCoat to reduce wear and tear on the outside of the rifle.

After the materials and design were sorted out the team began work on the features they would include in the weapon. As always ambidextrous controls, a universal feature on Hekler'Kok weapons, were added. A telescoping stock was added, to allow the rifle to be more conducive to shooters of different statures. An optic rail was added for the mounting of various optics, accessory rails were added on either side of the handguard for various accessories, a grip rail was added on the bottom of the handguard for various foregrips and a threaded barrel was included to allow the mounting of various muzzle devices. The last two features added were new proprietary inventions that the R&D team had been working on for years. The first feature was a new recoil buffer system that reduces felt recoil by at least 25%. The second feature was a new short stroke gas piston that allows the rifle to be much more reliable in adverse conditions.
