- Varied Amount of Ammunition: Like its smaller single shot cousin, the UGL-01, the AGL-01 has access to a large variety of grenades from traditional fragmentation to smoke to even nonlethal options

Seeing a niche in their weapons lineup that wasn't filled the design team at Hekler'Kok got to filling it. The basic design they came up with was a modified HMG-01 meant to fire the same 40x46mm used in their UGL-01. While originally the thought was to create simply a semi-auto launcher but they instead decided to make the launcher automatic to give it the ability to blanket a larger area more quickly.
With this all sorted they began to choose the materials to be used in the AGL-01's construction. To keep the weapons weight down as much as possible, though it still requires two to three people to carry the entire system, the design team used Hekler'Kok's patented Titanium-Alusteel Alloy to construct everything from the grip to the barrel to the internal mechanisms. The barrel was lined with Chromium to reduce wear and tear and lastly the entire weapon was plated in CeramiCoat to reduce external damage.
The last step of the process was to include the features for the weapon. The typical ambidextrous controls were added that are included in all Hekler'Kok weapons. A recoil buffer system was added to keep the recoil as low as possible, a heavy barrel was also added to reduce vertical recoil. A flash suppressor was included to reduce muzzle flash; adjustable iron sights able to account for the arc of fire of the grenades; an optic rail for the mounting of a wide variety of optics; a quick change barrel to prevent overheating and lastly a tripod/pintle mounting system for mounting the AGL-01 on a tripod mount or vehicle pintle mount.
