The Hunt for Rood Oktober (Adventure/Combat/Exploration)

With the demand for Kolto rising in the face of Bacta shortages, criminals have started to engage in the highly profitable act of Kolto theft, using advanced stealth submarines and droids to extract the precious substance directly or steal it from established mining rigs right under the noses of the Selkath government.

The Antarian Rangers have now deployed their own fleet of submersible vehicles and sub hunting airspeeders to hunt down the thieves and end their reign of terror under the sea.

Silver will start off at Ahto City as a base, then take their subs or vehicles down into the water for the hunt.

(After people start diving, I'll introduce a few NPC craft they'll encounter during their search for the criminals.)

Renovating Ahto (Business)

Expecting trouble with the rising prominence of Manaan in the galactic scene, the Selkath government has decided to use a portion of its flood of new Kolto wealth to create a massive mobile city platform capable processing Kolto in large quantities for the galactic market, as well having the ability to safely submerge at will.

The Selkath government has called for experienced manufacturers to help provide their technical expertise, components, and even full proposals for constructing the platform.

(Interested participants should start at the office of the Interior Ministry, then a meeting will commence where their ideas can be shared. Contracts and sponsorships will be awarded to participants following the conclusion of the Dominion.)

The Lambent Strain (Science)

The Silver Circle and a team of scientists plan to engage in an unusual experiment increase the potency of Kolto aboard the hospital cruiser Boram, subjecting samples to Force Imbuement during the refining process. Success with the experiment could lead to further development of a better healing substance.

The King of Fighters (Combat)

The Ailon government has allied itself with the Silver Jedi and the ISAF with great eagerness, the Ailon Nova Guard looking forward to waging glorious interstellar campaigns against historic rivals like the Mandalorians and Sun Guard.

To celebrate this new alliance, the High Marshal of Ailon has called for a fighting exhibition between the Silver Jedi and his most elite warriors and Force Users.

(Participants will assemble at the Violect Arena, the format of the exhibition will be a Battle Royale.)

Today would be a first in Caedyn's life for his participation in anything Science related since his younger days spent at School on Commenor. Thanks to the good will of the Silver Jedi Order and the recent shortages and theft of Kolto, the boy had been giving the option to accompany other Jedi in their endeavor to help the Crew and Hospital Staff of the "Boram" in creating a much more potent strain of the otherwise known product for medicinal purposes.

So young however, Caedyn's experience in these sort of things wasn't extensive in the least bit and so he had decided to bring along Lexas, his trust-worthy and most often socially awkward Droid for their genius smarts and general company. He was after all still such a new addition to the Order and had yet to really get to know any of the Silver Jedi on a personal level as of yet.

With The Prophet docked in one of the Cruiser's many Hangars and Airlocks, Caedyn motioned for Lexas to follow as the lad stepped out into the open and wide Corridor of the Boram, turning in either direction in an attempt to find his bearings. He had of course offered to help other Silver Jedi get there, his freighter far larger than a Sixteen year old truly needed.

Truth be told, he was feeling a little out of place, and so the pair of them started to walk in the hope of being directed by a passing crewman or familiar face of their own people...

[Varindar Asyt]

"All right, this is it: the first combat sortie of these submarines in SJ service. Unfortunately, a siege submarine is not appropriate for this mission profile. Keep quiet while surfaced; these criminals will keep quiet, too. Detecting a submerged submarine is about the noise they make"

"Understood"

Sure there would be surface combatants used by the locals for this operation, such as the De Zeven Provincien, and with it, VTOL aircraft loaded with concussion missiles; but these were not within Varindar's area of jurisdiction. Underwater, even proton rockets were still faster and, of course, more maneuverable than the fastest of submarines enemies could fire, but firing even one of those would result in an opportunity for detection. As the yellow submarines began to submerge and reach a depth of about 75m, they split up into groups each comprised of one attack submarine and three submarine fighters, but remained within concussion missile range of each other since they may need to reinforce each other should the submarines detect and engage hostiles. For now, anyway, it was an underwater game of hide-and-seek for which Varindar was prepared since she also wore a wetsuit with her lightsaber attached to it. Plus it was likely they would be unable to rely on visual cues, and even if they ere, Varindar's role was to serve as an underwater distraction for the other units, and she believes the criminals may perceive a large surface combatant as a more attractive target than an attack submarine.

[Iakchi]

Objective: King of Fighters


Iakchi was of little use underwater, lacking piloting skills and the ability to use his lightsaber underwater. So instead he was assigned to Ailon, home of the Nova Guard, historically formidable warriors, for their planned exhibition. It was something he looked forward to, testing his prowess against not only these new allies, but his fellow Jedi warriors. With both his lightsaber and ryyk kerarthorr on him, he gathered with the others at the arena, glancing around to get an idea of his competition. There was certainly quite a bit of it.

 

[Asaraa Vaashe]

Location: Manaan

Objective: King of Fighters

The call for combatants had come from the High Marshal, seeking out fighters willing to stand against his Nova Guard, and Asaraa would never let it be said that the Jedi were going to be found wanting on her account. The summons had allowed them to bring any weapons they wanted, any gear and so she had come fully armed if you were going to give a good impression then you wanted to give the very best you can. The pink-haired girl sat in a corner of the arena, her shield resting in the sand by her feet as she slowly turned her sword round and round in her hands, sighting down the blade. She imagined she could almost see the molecular blade, the edge slicing through the air. It was all in her head, she knew that but it was one of those affections which she found hard to get away from. Not that the weapon would have a chance to actually taste blood, or not much of it, this was an exhibition match, not a blood duel, killing people was probably going to be a little frowned upon, but that was ok, it would be nice to get in a real work out and these guards were meant to be some of the best in the galaxy. The perfect people to sharpen her skills against.

 

[Arahael]

Location: Ahto City
Objective: Swoop Racing

Cato flipped one of the multiple switches that lay across the dash panel of a swoop bike, roaring to life. As the bike elevated to its default position, he sat comfortably down on the leather seat. Despite the majority of the world being ocean, the swoop bikes here were certainly looked after well. Cato ran his hand across the clean, metallic surface of the side bodywork, finding no blemishes.

Make no mistake, he was about to have a whole lot of fun. But as it turned out, the authorities here weren't averse to a bit of fun as well during diplomacy. A course lay ahead of him and other contestants, which would surely be a challenge, even for those experienced in this sport. Taking the course labeled "Advanced" wasn't his first choice, but he would never say no to a friendly challenge.

The racing lights all went red, signalling the competitors to prepare for the race to begin. As the yellow lights appeared, Cato gripped tighter onto the handles. The green lights were meet with a thunderous compilation of engines, racing off across the first straight of the course.

 

[Althea Becket]

Objective: BYOO – Recreation and Refuel
Location: Manaan, orbit

A rather outdated craft entered the Manaan system. In fact, it was quite ancient ship – a Hotaru Class Transport, a KSA model no longer in production. For all that it lacked appearances wise, it was a hardy ship. On the bridge, Althea Becket gave the console in front of her an affectionate pat with the palm of her hand. She liked this ship, the Stargazer, so it was named.

Heading for the nearest world, Althea had been careful to manage her fuel. Her eyes found the blue world of Manaan outside the viewport, waiting.

“Well, I’ll be…” She said aloud, “Ain’t that just a pretty sight, like a big marble.”

A ginger cat jumped up onto the console, as if to enjoy the view. Murphy was her only memento from home, her constant companion. Reaching out to scratch the cat’s chin, she smiled. Her thoughts traveled back to Taanab, back to the Becket family ranch. Homesickness prickled the back of her mind, and sadness followed. There was so much she missed – her family, her home, and of course, Billy. Murphy’s trill brought her back to the presence, and she found comfort in the sound of his purring.

“Alright,” Thea said finally, “I’ll take us down. Hold on!”

With that, the country girl guided her ship down towards the watery surface of Manaan. Thea set in a course for Ahto City and the lone spaceport.

 

[Orihime Ike]

Location: Submersible

The celeste class cruiser was well.. it was massive, white metal and armed as a true naval craft that went on the water but inside of it well there was the aquatic bays. Where sumbersible troopers were set up with aquatic tents, rebreathers and underwater weapons like the ranger's harpoon rifle. Orihime herself was suited up in one of the wet suits with pressure seals and everythign to keep her safe. She knew how to really work on it while she held her saber and it would function underwater. THe submersible itself she had access to as well where she looked around. She had a smile sitting at the controls and getting her aquatic tent itself. "Everyone ready to head out?"

KING OF FIGHTERS​

If only wasn't so warm, Manaan would have been a fantastic Beorni vacation spot.

To start with, Beorni loved the water. And Selkath cuisine was heavy on the fish. That was always a plus. Much seafood. Many fish.

The youngling gave a shake that started at his shoulders, working its way back along his body until at last arriving at the puffball tail. The wet, matted white fur was starting to see the formation of salt crystals as the cub dried out under the Manaan sun. Standing on all fours, the diminutive Beorni basked in the sunlight as he moved out into the grand coliseum where the contest was to take place.

There was a human and a Wookiee there. The cub would join them, adding the strength of the Beorni to those proudly representing the Silver Jedi.

A red cape seemed to be caught in the wind, as the crimson garment flew under it's own connection to the Force. Swooping down, the cape fastened itself onto the youngling's collar, freely flowly off the bear's small form as the cub stood beside his compatriots.

"I'm down for this, but couldn't we have picked somewhere like Hoth for fisticuffs?"

"A dead Pizza Hutt without seed money issa dead Pizza Hutt: wesa goen to Manaan so dat wesa can get oursa chunk of da food court. Disen Selkath eat like usen Gungans"

"What do yousa mean, da Selkath eat like usen Gungans?"

"Theysa eaten poodoo-loads of fish"

Since the Felacatians didn't want to buy the cooking equipment off him, it was with a heavy heart that he kept said equipment on his barge. Hopefully, after a short stop on Naboo, he would be able to get the Selkath to negotiate a lease so that he could get a Pizza Hutt on Manaan. Plus he had some food supplies, and also some Gungan staffers to go with him; the Squibs, Grans that he typically brought in tow were busy on the other projects, such as Tatooine and Naboo. But, for the purposes of sealing that specific deal, after the fourth time or so that Ahto City was sunk, the Interior Ministry was the main point of contact for this operation. And that he did, after making sure that, upon reversion, he actually landed the barge in a position where he could get easy access to the Interior Ministry's office where the meetings are held. But even that would not stop him from getting him and his staffers to review the equipment, their needs assessment, the resources at hand, as well as any specifications that can be adjusted to fit the needs of the Selkath project.

Objective The Lambent Strain (Science)

Rachel already knew her master [member="Ye Hyonu"] would want her to learn and add her own knowledge. She was carrying one of her many blasters. She had yet to build a light sabre for herself. She would when the time was right until then she would work. She ran into [member="Caedyn Arenais"]. "Oh prince arenais. My apologies, I can be a bit air headed at times." She would smile before heading toward her destination again assuming the young man was following her.

She would quickly put together a work bench for herself beginning to work on the kolto. She knew all about it's healing properties and she knew bacta was better. So she decided to spring an idea on the young man with her. "So Caedyn, bacta is a mixture of healing liquids. What if we did a kolto mixture with something else that gives other healing properties or perhaps other properties such as increase in the ability to use the force. Thoughts?"

 

[Charlie Nooran]

Objective: Battle Royal
Location: Ailon – Violect Arena

Charlie smirked as she fitted her armor over her frame. They had been assembled with the others to exhibit fighting skills against other Force users and elite warriors of the Ailon Nova Guard. Charlie had studied up, but she was ready to let her brain rest so she could work other muscles. She had recently been given twin hammers to use alongside her lightsaber and ranger pistol. Each of the hammers was lovingly named by the padawan with their names etched in Seoulian, in her right was
으깨다 and in her left, was 감자들. Giving them a shake in her hands, she got a good feel of their new grips. Placing them to the clips onto her back she adjusted the shield emitter on her wrist.

Looking around she saw several members of the Order along with faces she had never seen. Rumor was that it was a going to be a free for all battle royal. Musing about, Charlie wondered if she should start creating allies or if she should put on her big girl pants and just wait and see who was doing well. A hand rested on her chin as she looked around and spotted [member="Asaraa Vaashe"].

The Seoulian girl admired the older Jedi for a moment, and then caught herself in her day dream and patted her cheek. Asaraa was a formidable opponent and she should watch out for her. Still, that was a pretty sweet sword. Charlie stretched her arm across her body as she could feel it stretch her sides along with her arm. A slight yawn came from the padawan as she began to dig around her armor for the hidden pouch where she kept a snack.

He looked around the city, Manaan was quite the lovely planet as Yuroic explored Ahto City. Selkath were quite happy to accommodate the Silver Jedi Order and Antarian Rangers, especially when the Silver Jedi were helping them with possible pirates and smugglers hunting down supplies of Kolto, a medicine that had gone out of fashion many centuries ago with the introduction of bacta. Recent years, the bacta supply had decreased at a fearful rate. This meant that Manaan and Kolto was once again important. Many thought that the Selkath would return to their neutral position and not allowing any one faction have control over their supplies. Fortunately they had changed their minds with the recent dangers that the First Order and Sith Empire posed.

Yuroic was speaking with a Selkath before he noted the time and realised that he was late for a mission that was upcoming, they were going to leave and he rushed away after a polite apology to the Selkath as he left. Arriving at the meeting point, Yuroic noticed that Varindar had gotten there first but not many other people had arrived before he did. Walking over to Varindar, he giving her smile as he greeted her. "Hello, Varindar, how are you?"

Caedyn Arenais blinked a couple times in surprise having just bumped into [member="Rachel Taff"]. He'd met her once before when he'd first come to Kashyyyk; she seemed nice enough though Caedyn's shyness and general anxiety had kept him back from opening up on the first meeting. Smiling up to her a little awkwardly, she was only a little taller than himself being four years his senior.

"Uh, hey...Rachel huh?" Caedyn greeted her warily, hoping he got her name correct; "No it's okay, sorry I wasn't really watching where I was going" he apologized quietly and soon gestured to his Droid, "This here's Lexas" he added as the three of them turned and began to move down the hospital corridor.

Reaching what Rachel had decided to make her station, Caedyn listened as she spoke about bacta being a mixture of healing properties suggesting they might do the same for Kolto. "To be honest I haven't really learned about science stuff all that much but I figured maybe I could help out with the credits and stuff....-Like uh, funding and that sorta thing?" His words ended with an unintentional question as if looking for some sign that he might be of use.

"Do you do a lot of this kinda thing?" He glanced back to her rather intrigued. Caedyn hadn't done a whole lot in the way of Mahara Kesh, science and the healing arts hand't been his first interest back then. Now however he was wishing he'd done more in the way of this sort of thing.

With some of the other prospective participants having other services, other purposes for even being here, Ugohr knew that, for all he wanted about his piece of the food court, he had to tread lightly since others were a little concerned about ingredient sourcing. And others still who wanted nothing from the Interior Ministry than the layout of the kolto-producing equipment, which would then allow them to tailor their offerings to the specifications in use. So the Selkath hosts handed out the statement of scope for every prospective contractor wanting to participate in this large-scale project, this megaproject even. They wanted submersibility, even if it meant that submersion was to occur by segments. Do theysa realize dat issa better to build multiple smaller platforms, scattered across da planet, dan one large platform? he thought, although keeping such thoughts to himself, before these Selkath could present the actual requirements for more than simply submersibility. The ones he was most interested in were... dietary requirements. The cold, hard truth was that, to the extent his operation didn't depend on anything kolto-related, he still had to be mindful of where the fish would be sourced.

[Althea Becket]

Objective: BYOO – Recreation and Refuel
Location: Ahto City, Manaan

With the Stargazer docked, Althea made her way down the ramp. The area was bustling with folks from off world, just like herself. Before she could even take another step, she was greeted by a pair of spaceport security droids demanding a docking fee.

“Oh, um… just a moment now,” Thea nodded quickly, and fished about for the credits.

Having been paid, the droids rolled off, and Thea was left patting her pocket — it was a bit lighter now. “Well, shoot,” she muttered sadly, there wouldn’t be much left to her name soon. She was learning fast what it took to keep a ship up and running, especially a rust bucket like hers.

But, the lure of Ahto City took hold of her attention. There were beautifully crafted fountains, clean structures, and a view of the water that left her a bit wordless. The water of Manaan was sparkling blue, and she had even heard talk of the world that existed below. A far cry from the farmlands of her home, that was for certain.

“Which way?” Thea wondered aloud, tapping her chin in thought.

Turning, she spotted a steady flow of people headed towards the center of the city — to the swoop races. Brows lifting, she decided to follow along. Into the stadium she went, a spring in her steps and a smile on her face.

Objective: Swoop Racing

The swoops took off across the water, spraying droplets everywhere and on anyone who came close to each other. Their first obstacle would be a ramp. The issue wasn't that they were going to get some elevation, but it was deliberately narrow enough so that some competitors would have to give way.

Looking to see who was alongside him, Cato saw another swooper to his right and slightly behind. Weighing up the risk, he decided to zoom ahead and take a position near the front in order to be one of the first up the ramp. The move had meant Cato was extremely close to the bike in front of him, spraying water behind it. The spray was stopped by the goggles he was wearing, but it didn't stop the disturbance it was causing.

Coming up at a rapid pace, Cato's swoop hit the ramp and gained a decent height for a short moment. As the bike came down, the repulsors kicked in and the race continued.

 

[Valkren Calderon]

The King of Fighters​

Objective: Battle Royal.​

Calderon was out of his comfort zone, to say the least. He had been in hand-to-hand combat before, but that was a last-ditch effort for survival. Today it was for sport and he was curious as how he would do against his opponents. He was pacing patiently in his tiny corner of sand in the arena, twirling his vibro blade about in his right hand. On his left, rested a gauntlet. He knew with a quick aggressive motion of his wrist and hand, an energy shield would be produced from it. In the palm of his left hand, rested a makeshift-helmet for the soldier, although nothing like the one he wore with his usual katarn armor. No, this time around he only wore the chest plate and leggings atop of just basic clothing designed to make the plating more comfortable. His arms, with their relative tattoos covering both, were in clear vision to the masses.

He turned to see who all was exactly was watching. There was a mix of spectators from both parties to celebrate the new alliance. Most importantly though, a large group of rangers stuck out like a sore thumb in their BDU's. Members from his own special tactics unit and the third infantry had shown up and shown out to see the colonel preform, and he had to admit that their cheers were going straight to his ego.

In the distance he could spot some familiar faces and some others from the silver Jedi that he hadn't formally met yet: [member="Charlie"], [member="Asaraa Vaashe"], [member="Kiriko"], and [member="Iakchi"]

He'd give the group a wave with his sword above his head, smiling as he yelled out to the masses and group alike,

"A silver is going to come out on top today!" His friends cheers' were getting to him confidence-wise, and the cheer following this statement didn't help. He slipped the helmet on over his head in preparation.

"And it'll be a ranger as well!" Specialist Lowder shouted out from his spot in the stands, sitting with a group of rangers from Valkren's unit. Beside him, Konrad was kicked back with a cigar in his mouth, seemingly enjoying the 'free time' off the special forces team had been given for Valkren to attend this event.

From what I know about stealth in a submarine warfare context, keeping quiet is key, and it is also an auditory, underwater game of hide-and-seek so for this operation, we will communicate using telepathy, which does not emit noise detectable on a passive sonar, she thought, while transmitting that key information to the other Jedi assigned to this combat operation because Yuroic arrived after Varindar's pack of submarines began submerging. In fact, she was closing in on a rift in the sea's bedrock, albeit a little slow, but she hoped that there would be no need to fire too many proton rockets, nor concussion missiles. Hopefully this fight will be over by the time the smaller subs' ammunition reserves are depleted and any communications from the De Zeven Provincien and any other surface combatant would be done via tightbeam, as well as communications between submarines, such as the ones under Orihime's command. Either side's passive sonar would be very, very sensitive: whoever detects the other first has an advantage; however, the defender typically detects the attacker when the attacker fires anything. A far cry from ex-GE submarines, flak or attack; these were so noisy they could easily be beaten by airborne attacks.

[Ciana Teigra]

Location: Hospital Cruiser Boram
Objective: The Lambent Strain

Practically overnight, the former GA ambassador found herself out of a job. The Galactic Alliance was no more, only survived by tiny Enclave now hidden away within the far reaches of the Outer Rim. The Core native had no interest following them there.

She also had little interest in returning home to her old post as Panacea's CEO (but remained a board member). Panacea was her mother's creation, made to help her realize her own twisted designs for the galaxy. After steering the company in a more noble direction, she was done.

Having always lived in her mother's shadow, she wanted something different, to leave her own mark on the world.

The Silver Service Corps was a good start, the non-profit organization offering many opportunities for a scientist like her. She hoped would be like the old days as a science officer in the Spacy.

Her first assignment with the SSC was on Manaan, looking to increase the potency of Kolto to match or surpass the effectiveness of Bacta. She could think of some easy alternatives, but it was fun thought exercise to work through none the less. Ciana couldn't remember a time where she could just enjoy herself experimenting and making discoveries.

She was in one of the labs with a few Selkath researchers when bridge alerted her to the presence of newcomers. Ciana took a break from sampling to meet up with them, lab coat billowing around her as she strolled away from her station.

"Good morning," she clasping gloved hands together excitedly. "I'm Ciana Teigra with the SSC. I'm happy to have you aboard! We could actually use a few more Force Users in the mix for a wider sampling."

She gave each person a glance as she awaited responses, everyone strangers to her except for Caedyn. She at least knew of him from his as a Prince from the CSA. It was an interesting looking cast thus far.
