STANDARD FEATURES

ADVANCED SYSTEMS

STRENGTHS
  • Blockade Runner - With the use of the shield generator and regenerator, the Hawk can withstand heavy damage before its shield fail, allowing it to punch through heavy defensive formations.
  • Speed - It is FAST. It made the Kessel Run in less than 13 parsecs. Its heavily modified Ion engines allow for responsive thrust and vectoring.
  • Good Defences - The redundant and overlapping shields make the Hawk able to withstand tremendous damage. However, once the shielding is depleted, she is just a durasteel hull with some fancy paint.
  • Good Smuggling Ability - LOTS of compartments for...things.

WEAKNESSES
  • Not a Dogfighter/Ship combatant - She's fast, but she's not built to go toe to toe with purpose built star-fighters. While she can handle her own, a good Captain with a nimble star-fighter will give her a run for her money. You'll have to utilize your speed to stay ahead of your opponents.
  • Temperamental Hyperdrive - Sometimes it works, sometimes you need a mechanic.
  • Shield Toxicity - While the normal shields will stay up and keep you safe like normal, if you want to engage the Rapid Shield Generator, you will quickly overload the system. Your powerful shields will regenerate and keep you safe for a short amount of time. Once they are burned out, they need time to recharge, or possibly to be repaired in port.
  • The Orange Menace - Rumor has it a rusty orange droid is on the lookout for you.

DESCRIPTION

Clan Warnel bought the blueprints for a cargo ship from a black market dealer somewhere on the lower levels of Coruscant. The dealer told them the ship was an ancient design, and had a history about it, but that it was easy to manufacture. Therefore, the price was higher than just a normal freighter. After purchasing the blueprint, Clan Warnel set about building a small manufacturing facility within their territory to build these ships. While construction is still slow while the Clan deals with the troubleshooting of building a new facility and ship, they are making terrific progress.

The Hawk was a purpose built freighter, but Clan Warnel has made some updates to the design to warp it into a Blockade Runner. It still has its secondary motive of transporting goods for Mandalorians and being a home away from home, but now its been upgraded to have advanced shields, pack a decent punch, and carry a purpose built fighter/interceptor/basilisk with the newly installed hangar bay door. This has also made the ship larger than its ancient predecessor.

One of its major strengths is the modularity within the hull. The high ceilings, hangar bay door, and detachable roof armor allow the ship to have different modular improvements to its interior. Do you want a forge, or armory? Unbolt the couch and install it. Do you want a bacta-tank instead of just some first aid pouches? Open the hangar bay door and wheel it in. Do you want easy access to the engines and/or hyperdrive for upgrades? Open the newly installed engine bay doors for quick access to both to upgrade. Do you want to switch out the weapons and customize the ship? The hard-points along the hull allow for easy access to switch weapons.

The Hawk is well tuned for smuggling as well. Several compartments within the interior can be removed and goods can be stored within the empty spaces of the hull, shielded from scans with special alloys. Also within the interior you'll find an HK Assassin Droid for security. Pre-programmed for ship security, it can be re-programmed at will by the owner.

She's quick, but she's not the most maneuverable. Dogfights are not the Hawk's forte, but she has the shields to hold her own for a time. You have the firepower to destroy most fighters, but you have to be a keen pilot to be able to outmaneuver them and survive. While one fighter may not pose the most tremendous threat, several will overwhelm you.

The Hawk has two manned quad-laser cannons on the top and bottom of the ship. Small glass domes and targeting reticles allow the crew to target enemy ships with pristine accuracy. There are also automated turrets that dot the hull, their targeting computers linked to the ship. Concussion missle launchers are installed on the forward portion of the Hawk, and seismic chargers can be released from the rear of the ship. There is also a newly installed droid rack on the belly of the ship. Holding (2) Recon and (4) Combat drones, they can be remotely deployed from within the ships cockpit. With overlapping shields, shield regenerators, electronic countermeasures, jamming devices, areas for the forge, a medical bay, and an armory, the Hawk is a well rounded Blockade Runner perfect for a Mandalorian and his crew.
